    Bannerlord in VR?

So just to say it in light of the above... but looks like he just released Beta of (optional) unlockable Tiered Spells/Magic into the game and RNG loot-chest system into dungeons (with campaign XP, gold, secrets). :coffee::unsure:

Some thoughts on why i think bannerlord should become VR compatible

Just try playing the game in first person and understand how much of a cluster **** that is, then consider what VR will be like the other 50% of the time when you're on the campaign map.

Overall doesn't sound like that great for an experience for the time it would take to develop.

Agreed "as-is" with Bannerlord, the way combat works etc... it would be MUCH cluster **** ... you are essentially looking at a brand new game/combat system that is built from the ground up to make the concept work, which is why I recommended Tales of Glory as an option because someone has done this already haha.

They did the campaign map quite well and very simply (NOTE: you don't need to actually be in "first person" wile in VR to add some depth & immersion), it's still birds-eye view where you can rotate/pan around freely and use trackpad/joystick to move party -- it's still very much "as it's always been" in perspective and control but adds a nice touch of depth/scale & immersion to it by viewing it all in VR. ... Campaign map is not the challenge -- reworking the entire combat, damage, (everything physics) system to be VR suitable... this is the challenge! haha

    EDIT:
I noticed their store page doesn't actually show anything about the Campaign map... so here's a "Let's Play" from TheBaron going through it to get a feel: -- WARNING: Don't judge the combat gameplay, this video is from 2019 before all the physics reworks and such -- looks like a joke compared to what it is today

    Bannerlord in VR?

Its amazing. Does Jay sleep? The amount of improvement he is making to the game, in addition to seemingly always being on discord engaging w the community and taking feedback makes it two, maybe three full-time jobs. Very dedicated to the game.

Tales of Glory is not without its flaws, but dev is aware, responsive and constantly working to improve it.
I seriously don't think so lol ...I think this week is as a close as he gets, announced on Discord he's "OOH until Sunday so won't be any new Beta updates" (literally has to be drawn physically out of his home to cease working on updates -- not sure its a break or not, but he does deserve at least this one if it is haha)

    Virtual Reality in Bannerlord

Another old post I'm late to, but if anywhere here is still intrigued by the concept, see this post chain (so I don't have to spam the same message to all VR posts lol) --- TLDNR: Bannerlord VR, not likely -- but the concept exists in full physics already and worth checking out!

    Bannerlord in VR?

Very intriguing. Hope people will support this game. Now more interested in this VR clone than Bannerlord. Their discord is active and apparently THE dev is adding procedural caves to dungeon crawl mode.

Made by ONE dedicated dev, show this good man some love.
Procedural dungeons are already out (beta) and literally within the week he's already added two new biome segments (caves and open-air ruins) as well as a new ruins hold-out map --- the Dev (Jay) is incredible honestly --- he hears feedback on Discord and acts on it almost immediately (and to think he's doing this for his two games simultaneously as well, and without either community feeling cheated in any way) ... never seen someone so efficient and proactive with their work! -- I think last weekend, I was workign with him on physic feedback and he blasted through I think 5 (solid) Beta updates in that one weekend lol

I honestly wish I had money to literally just give him a team of developers, more resources/SDK access to support his work and commitment! (most of his limits are in access to resources/tools - not a lack of will) ... hoping modding community here will pick up on it soon and play that roll to a degree

What if Bannerlord pulled off a Fortnite?

Most want a good SP game like we had in warband but expanded on with more features.
I want both actually... SP was great for sitting back and slogging along in a time sink, and in warband, of all MP experiences, honestly most of my time was in CRPG for the sense of progression and community that was built around it (sort of semi-campaign map as well was neat/desirable -- but still a distant dream).

M&B has always been a "sandbox", not for the game, but for modders and my god the modders were/are great ... that being said, I think by now TW could/should have the resources and talent to pull off such things as a MMO style campaign map, especially since a modder was able to do so with their own time/resources (even if I, myself was never able to make it past the launcher lol) --- This is a dream, but I can also somewhat agree with you that there is always a chance its "meh" when dreamers like actually "get there"... won't know until we try, but it is/has been my dream for a while at least -- add progression, sense of achievment and growth into the MP setting for that same feeling of "rising to glory" in SP which launched the game off in the first place.

The flat out "Skirmish-based PvP" is muted nowadays thanks to the earlier release of Mordhau (quite successful "filler" waiting for M&B2 -- still doing well seemingly) and soon Chivalry 2-- to keep it's distinction I think some risks/development on getting those MMO/RPG, "rag to riches" feels into a MP setting, like the SP, would be still vastly unique and impactful compared to other games out there.

I vote: Worth a try to keep up the value/momentum Mount & Blade offers truly at its core (in SP), and expanding this into something that can be enjoyed in groups & communities as well, as we have a pretty darn good one here.

I also vote because it's "being done", like the Bannerlord Online mod, thus proved to be not TOO far out of reach than forever thought with Warband, and TW simply has to reach out and interact with the modder(s) involved … maybe even hire them and I think they could have a Beta in no time. This is something a lot of Devs miss, is that there is so much talent out there, people making THIER game awesome, for FREE even, but could/would be super willing to chip into a profession level production I'm sure if they were reached out to, and can thrive so much higher than on their own, making an even better experience for ALL players (and the developers success) in the end [at pretty low risk]

Some thoughts on why i think bannerlord should become VR compatible

Awesome, a recent post on this! (I just posted on a 1 year old VR one... oops lol)

As @Terco_Viejo above mentioned, and with more words, less smoke bomb...

Well... my point would be it IS awesome in VR for those that doubt it, and its already been made by a single indie Dev, see below!!
(PS: there is a free trial)

I think you're looking for this game:

recently updated with huge physics overhauls and feels great -- has a M&B campaign map (significantly reduced compared to the real thing of course, but it's there!) -- tons of quests/missions types, stealth mechanics, etc. Honestly closest & best thing you'll find for a VR M&B fix!!

ALSO: I should also mention TOG already has framework for MOD Support in place, full release and access to code coming (within the month?)

I would like for formally ask any Modders passing by the post, interested in VR and M&B modding alike, that there is a TON of potential for modding this game, and honestly the ONE developer can't do it alone -- we need your support to make it incredible!!

Resolved Clan Role lost forever after companion death

I had a doctor companion assigned as clan surgeon. He was slain in battle, and since then, when attempting to assign a different companion to the surgeon role as a replacement, the option is no longer available. (basically stuck assigned to the dead character, and inaccessible to set for any...

    Replenishing Grenades

I like the idea of non-replenishing ammo, it makes it a bit more fair/realistic. But when you only have 2-5 grenades in a stack and its costing like 5k each, its rather annoying. Really what Taleworlds SHOULD do, is make all ammunition consumable, but theres 1) a limited based on weapon to how many you can bring into battle/ in your hand at one time, 2) the stacks consist of much greater quantity, more so leaning to them being "reserves" per-se. So like a bag of bullets will contain 100 bullets for the cost, each battle you can bring in 16  or w/e depending on the type, and are consumed from that stack. Same with grenades, make it like.. 20 bombs per stack, but you can only bring in 2 per battle/in your hand at one time. So you can still replenish at the chest if need be in terms of fighting, but you can potentially run out of ammunition, but not at a rate that is incredibly annoying and limiting.

Its a thought...I think this would be ideal and make everyone happy in regards to getting rid of endless spam, but still maintain some sustainability and ridding the annoyance of costs etc. (personally int he campaigns i've played i've only bought grenades once, because I have better use for the gold than to spend 5k on bombs that will kill maybe 5 enemies work 10xp ea. I don't like the system as it is at all)

    Expansion / Multiplayer suggestion thread

Personally I think its more than doable to make a multiplayer campaign map. You can make it so you start off just like campaign, choose a town and whatnot... but instead of having pauses every time you stop moving/go into towns make it so its always in real time with server chosen game speeds. keep all the NPC lords and quests roaming..basically make it the same world but you can have more than one player running around, choosing a faction fighting against or with eachother, etc etc... have character saves because obviously it would be annoying to start from scratch every time you join in a server... in my opinion just building my char, army etc would give me months of entertainment. It adds that extra competitive aspect to the campaign world by trying to be better than everyone else

it would take a little work, really all that would need to be done is add npc interaction characteristics based on realm at peace/war etc work properly when engaging and the towns make it so if a player is in a shop or anything, it counts them as "staying the night" for the time they are in the town,  just so you dont get attacked by something you cant see and have nothing to defend yourself...

If you could pull this off it would be most epic in my opinion. Hope you consider it.

(Oh and battering rams to make the gates a bit more significant in sieges would be good )

Also sprinting for being on foot... use a stamina meter or that and for attacks too would make a bit more sense, you can make the strength stat increase the stamina meter to add this extra aspect... its just i find foot soldiers too slow generally and should be able to make a quick headlong rush for those brief opportunities where an enemy is vulnerable... plus for battles in general in SP when the soldiers charge in it would add effect.... ALSO, there can be a moderate speed bonus for attacks when charging much like as on a mount, but less significant of course.

Experience bonuses for harder difficulty settings would add some extra insentive to challenge oneself: like on easiest settings you get like 60-80%xp, on hardest you get 120-150%xp

and a final thing (ill shut up after this):

for MP you should generate some kind of squad based system (for at least battle mode) where before the battle starts you can join a squad (ie: cavalry, archers, etc just like in SP) and the first person on this team can have the commands like in SP to order charges and whatnot... if anyones tried savage 2, pretty good idea there but a commander option is really necessary unless some battle field artillery could be implemented like in BF2. (this would take some work tho),. The idea of this is to basically add some tactic to the game and a bit of strategy so players will be inclined to stick together in formation instead of just randomly run in and do whatever they do... would also improve player communication and teamwork. (voice communication in game probably isnt a bad idea either for anyone who wants to take the game a bit more seriously )
