URGENT: DDoS of all major NA Servers

While this thread has served it purpose to bring attention of developers and community to this DDoS attack, I feel as of now it only serves as a goldmine for any attention whore like Daniel Tosh. I'd suggest instead doing things now through private TS conversations and PM's on the forums/steam, and locking/deleting this so Tosh doesn't know about our plans and can't get the attention he so longingly wants.

The purpose being served is greater than the risk of any damage. What more can be done to this community than already is being done? Rallix's thread has served a good purpose here, and may in the end be extremely effective in helping bring a solution.

URGENT: DDoS of all major NA Servers

Rallix hits the nail on the head.

On a more practical (economical) note, USA Central POM and my clan, the Golden Kingdom (GK)'s Siege, Team Deathmatch, and Deathmatch servers garner the bulk of North American Native Warband traffic, and thus opportunities for new players to play, and encourage more people to buy the game. Without servers on which to play, new players either play single player or forget about the game, and then they do not possibly buy and traffic mods, nor encourage friends of theirs to do the same. Thus do the dominoes fall, and do the customers dry up, especially the built-in customer base for the upcoming and long anticipated BANNERLORD.

I don't know what Taleworlds can do, or if they can do anything, but if GK can be of any assistance, we're more than willing.

Regardless, we're not prepared to raise the white flag, and will soldier onward.

[UNAC S4] The TFM/TMW incident thread (formerly Announcements & Suggestions)

    Greetings, gentlefolk.

I have not replied here previously on this issue largely due to being one of the several hundred thousand lucky people to lose power with sub freezing temperatures last week in the state of New Hampshire, and further issues when power was restored. I simply did not go looking for work when I was online, preferring to relax. Little did I know Green Knight was taking so much abuse alone for a joint decision. My apologies to Green Knight.

Some of the criticisms levied, and the manner in doing so, have surpassed the comical. It is fine and dandy to disagree, but personal attacks and questioning of dedication are preposterous. Some of those posting could easily ask their clanmates as to the amount of time the administrators have put into things.

Regardless, here follows a full accounting of our actions as seen by myself on this particular matter.

This was a joint decision on the part of both Green Knight and myself. This decision followed more investigation and consideration than likely occurred after the Kennedy assassination. It would've been essentially impossible for Green and myself to have been better informed on what had occurred. Accounts on the spot were received by me from both captains and the referee, which were saved and relayed to my fellow administrator. Logs were retrieved and examined to see how they matched what had been told by the captains and the assigned referee. With all of the information in hand, we then considered the merits of what had occurred and who was responsible.

We knew once we made our decision how it would be received. I had already gleaned that TFM expected us to rule in TMW's favor, for obvious reasons. For that same reason, the conclusion arrived at was sure to cause awkwardness with our coworkers among the administrators. Neither the expectations of personal attacks nor the accusations of bias (from both sides) nor personal concerns were considerations. We saw what we believed was right, and followed through on it despite it being the more difficult decision and one sure to result in more drama.

It is every individual's right to agree or disagree. But realize: our cause is just, our motivations are just, and we're doing the best we can for this tournament. It gave us no personal pleasure. Someone was bound to be displeased, and if you feel that, given the same information we had, and an impartial point from which to utilize that information, you would've ruled differently, then good for you. That is your right to postulate. Whatever else this decision was, it wasn't easy. We stand by it.

What shouldn't be at question is the dedication or motivations of my fellow administrators, and, I daresay, myself (if only because I think the 13 hours total I and at one time or another all 3 of my peers spent in captain's interviews show our interest in how the community feels about tournament issues). It has been an unexpected pleasure to work with all 3 of these gentlemen, and I have no gripe nor criticism for any of them. I've learned much and met people I never knew existed, and found some of those I knew of to be completely different than anticipated.

So, gentlemen, let's now please focus on the culmination of week 7, and the coming of the Single-Elimination phase.

[UNAC S4] Week One Results, Discussions and Predictions (include screenshots!)

Allow me to take my UNAC administrator hat off for a moment.

The west Knights have treated the Golden Kingdom with respect and vice versa. It is unnecessary to sully that by twisting peoples' words.

As for discouraging people, the Golden Kingdom has 200 members, over 100 of whom are active at any given time, and runs the most populated servers in North America, as well as the most professionally administered. Our scene is fine, and not easily discouraged. We're not going anywhere. I think that similar can be said about the resilience of the greater North American community as well, with new teams springing up from unexpected places, and rising faster than expected.

Most of us in the greater community are better off looking inward rather than outward when it comes to our shortcomings, and in this context, the shortcomings of our teams and clans.

I know that applies to both myself and my clan, and I am acutely aware of areas that have needed improvement.

                            An average experience

                            A worse than average experience
                            An average experience
                            A better than average experience
                            A great experience

    8. I think this tournament (UNAC 3), was harmed by (choose any/all that apply):
                            The attitudes of the community
The teams participating in the tournament
                            The admin team (Be Specific)

                            The rule set (Be Specific)
                            Other (Be specific)

The attitude of several of the teams we scrimmed was poor. We've got better things to do than be trolled on the duel to delay its beginning by non-duellists riding horses into the ring. And certainly better things to do than wait 10 minutes and then have our opponent "fail" to get their full 7 players in on the swap. As happened REPEATEDLY, against one of our opponents. A team lead by a tourney admin, no less. Disgraceful.

The unwillingness of the admin team to enforce rules was a huge problem. This flies in the face of what some others have posted, but the facts are really that the admins stopped doing their jobs to a large extent. Rules about player addition and eligibility were ignored, admins' teams personally benefited from decisions, and the whole thing became a joke. This point really would've been driven home if KoF had pulled a Deathwatch and dissolved, then all joined DoG, instead of just kidding each other about doing so. I realize the tourney admins probably would've endeavored to stop that, but that would've shown a wholly different problem. Selective enforcement is little different than non-enforcement. There must be rules of some kind, or there is chaos. And the people in authority must have the integrity to enforce them, along with the willingness to say no to participants. These qualities were lacking. UNAC 4, if there is one, will need more leadership than this.

    9. I think this tournament (UNAC 3), was benefited by (choose any/all that apply):
                            The attitudes of the community
The teams participating in the tournament TMW, Wappaw, and GK each contributing 2 teams really helped the tournament.
                            The admin team (Be Specific)
                            The rule set (Be Specific)
                            Other (Be specific)

    10. To the question of whether I think someone else could have done a better job adminning this tournament (UNAC 3), my answer is:
                          Yes (Be Specific)
                            No

I did not see anyone besides Zaffa with the fortitude and willingness to put in the time and effort required. Doesn't mean they weren't there (for instance, I do not know Eternal), but it sure seemed like the tourney was in bad shape even before it began, when William had to resign. However, Zaffa lacked the respect of a significant segment of the constituent community, and was effectively undermined due to this by mid tournament. Ultimately, this meant the job wasn't fully done. Anyone in authority needs both competence and respect to accomplish objectives. Could someone else have done a better job? I am unaware of a feasible person who could've combined both competence and respect. Doesn't mean they weren't there. So, the answer is, your guess is as good as mine.

    Future Tournament Questions
    Specific, Rule Related Questions
    11. Tournament matches should be played between:
                            Monday to Sunday
                            Wednesday to Tuesday
                            Some other time (Be Specific)

Don't care, weekends have almost always worked best.

    12. If future tournaments keep the round robin -> single elimination system, teams should be able to add players to their team (who haven't already been on a team) until:
                            Two weeks into the tournament
                            The round robin is over
                            Some other time (Be specific)

    13. If future tournaments keep the round robin -> single elimination system, teams should be able to trade players to their team (who have already been on a team) until:
                            Two weeks into the tournament
                            The round robin is over
                            Some other time (Be specific)

    14. In the case of spectators, they should be:
                            Locked to team member
                            Locked to team member view
                            Free

    Up to the captains involved.

    15. As to who should be able to spectate a match,:
                          Everyone should be allowed.
Only streamers and participants should be allowed.
                            Only participants should be allowed.
                            Other

    Up to the captains involved.

    16. The next tournament should have:
                          Random Divisions
Divisions based off seeding (UNAC 2)
Divisions divided equally based off seeding (UNAC 3)
                            No Divisions
                            Other (Be specific)

    17. The format of the next tournament should be:
                          Pure Round Robin
Round Robin - > Single Elimination (UNAC 1/2/3)
                            Single Elimination
                            Double Elimination
                            Ladder / Swiss system
                            Other (Be specific)

    18. The person(s) that should determine the map pool for the next tournament should be:
                          The admin team
                            Team captains
                            Other (Be specific)

As fun as multiple multi-hour meetings which may or may not decide anything in the end are, I'd just like those in charge to have a firm grip. This would require the captains to choose someone competent and respected.

    19. The maps for each week should be chosen by:
                          Pre-set fixtures (UNAC 3)
                            Weekly Map Pools (UNAC 1/2)
Elimination-Map-Pool*                              *A team can only pick the same map so many times
                            Other (Be specific)

    20. The factions for each week should be chosen by:
