Fire and Sword Version 1.141 is ready

Really love the new sounds!  Its a small but really meaningful change in terms of immersion.

Economy tweaks and the cost of food has me scrambling to keep my army on the go but everything looks promising.  Yet to mess with a caravan, we'll see how that goes .

Stuff I have noticed that's still weird:

Party Fire on my command followed by Party Fire at Will seems to be a little inconsistent, sometimes I have to remind my marksmen to fire directly.
Have also notice some enemies get stuck aiming and won't fire even though it seems like they have viable targets.
    Enemies also aim while fleeing.
Enemies continue to not despawn along eastern edge of wagon camp maps.

    The 'renown' system dilemma

Can the troop value be calculated from the units XP value and be fairly comparative?  I've never payed much attention to that stat but I think it should be a fairly legit barometer.

I would also like to see a separate comparitive check for number of lords on each side.

Strapped for Thaler, Need Some Ideas

    Thanks guys.

I'm hip to the caravan system.  Also a big fan of raiding a village to find good resources as a seed for a caravan.

But, we're at war with everyone but the Muscovites... =/  Not a lot of good trade goods between there and Sweden.  So, I think I have to take a city I can find spice in to start caravaning.  My problems not how to caravan, its from where to caravan, and I think I have to make options.

Strapped for Thaler, Need Some Ideas

Rolling with Sweden.  Have been quietly garrisoning up Lublin and roaming around sieging towns for fun.  Sweden recently declared war on the Cossacks which has both the Black Mace and my caravaning on hold, but I've stockpiled almost 200,000 thaler in a few Sweden controlled towns that never get...

    cultural recruitment

I would really like some sort of scouting reports/preview/descriptor tags for units in the future, especially under the WFAS recruiting system.  I spent a lot of time not knowing what weapons/troops were and how they should function on the battle field, which didn't feel very in character or fun.

Looking at a given units character sheet is very helpful, but also very information dense.  And its not accessible at the time of purchase from a town.

Some shorthand tags might be the easiest and most user friendly way to find out a little info about a unit from the quest log menus, but being able to get there from the buy screen would be best.  The same applies to custom weapon/armor purchases.

Specifically regarding cultural recruitment I think it would be acceptable to send militia veterans to a commander/academy and for a fee (and a few days) have them trained.  A portion of these could graduate to a few different mid-level troop types, the remainder could become "elite" militiamen.  This doesn't radically alter the troop training landscape but gives you a chance to spend a little more time to milk a few more quality troops out of the fodder.

    how to disable wagon fort?

I find I end up spending a lot of time waiting during the wagon for battles.

There's a slight rise to the right of the wagons you can use for cover to advance on the enemy.  The NPC's walk so slow I spend several minutes just waiting for my men to get in position.  Half the time I do this the enemy will line up outside the wagons for no clear reason...

Don't get me wrong I like the idea of this feature but the execution is a little disappointing.

    Best weapons, armor, horse,...

I am really dissappointed by not being able to see the handcrafted items before ordering them =/.  In a roleplaying game where you might want your dude to look a certain way that seems like a misstep to me.

I also ran into the hiccup of ordering the black armor and not being strong enough to wear it.  Now for the next three levels I have to sink pts into strength =/.

Kingdom of Sweden Unit and Nation Guide (Now with unit statistics)

Thanks a lot for the right up!  I'm playing Swedes myself atm and the info is super helpful.

Lord AI is killing me though, we almost had the Polish Republic wasted and then the NPC's went on a rash of "sieging" the last few cities, hugely outnumbering the defenders and then just riding away...

Fire & Sword Better Than Warband ?

I'm sticking with F&S and am starting to find the fun.

I really feel the economy is whack atm and really needs the curve reworked.  I also desperately miss the tournaments, and wish I had an equivalent money making alternative to running all over the place with spice and oil to get the caravan train rolling.

And how many releases is it going to take to design a battle on the streets or keep assault level that isn't horrible?  All they need is one other room or a short hallway.

Also, am I missing the XP and cash notes post siege?  Or is there a bug and joining an assault doesn't give me anything?  Atm I seem to be only getting 1 renown every victory...

Fire & Sword Better Than Warband ?

My biggest gripe is the art...  Why is the menu art terrible?!  I feel like a lot of the textures aren't very well put together either.  I've loved the gorgeous illustrations in previous M&B releases.  Instead we're treated to "programmer art" =/.

It really feels like an alpha state to me.  The art doesn't look done, the game doesn't really feel complete yet either, but I will give it time to grow on me.

I would have preferred Calradia + Guns to a historical setting... but that's just a matter of preference, as long as the designers didn't get hung up on the idea of user made empires, etc while clinging to historical accuracy.

    Getting more Estates

I find about 60 troops with a decent size group of highest teir guys you can start taking castles from the Khergit pretty easy.  Asugan Castle is incredibly easy to seize.  Try to take castles with lots of prisoners early so you can recoup any losses quickly.

Check what is garrisoned in the castle against what your army consists of, you can eyeball it pretty easy with some experience.

    Food.

It usually depends on how much coin I have on hand.  If I'm following the Marshall around (i.e. just waiting all the time) I'll get as many types as I can afford to keep morale up while we wait on the NPCs.

Is it me or is WB far harder than M&B?

Raiding for me is always what has caused 5-6 enemy lords to appear and squash me.  Last time it happened they took my sword, killed my horse, and stole my boots, lol.

The Rhodok Sharpshooters are out of control good.  They went from effective in droves in MB to slaughtering hordes of my Mamlukes in melee during sieges, which is a tragedy.

I agree peace can be a bummer.  I've found myself hunting down EVERY tournament when the truce starts.

Is it me or is WB far harder than M&B?

I'm finding similiar "problems" getting started in WB too, despite having played a LOT of MB.

I really like how enemy lords seem to size up your force better.  The Khergits tend to attack my Sultinate force even when outnumbered because they out-horse me.  However, friendly npc lords remain worthless. They still stand outside very siezable castles for weeks and then ride away.  When friends/enemies will join a battle is also a dice roll.

What I'm absolutely mind numbingly frustrated with is the "leave these friendlys to die" option.  IT DOES NOTHING!  My pursuers are not delayed at all so I am immediately confronted with the same choice.  I don't think this works as intended.

Now I find myself just surrendering when I can't get away.  The experience I get slaughtering a  handful of opponents isn't worth the risk of injury.  As a player this makes me feel helpless, which is not good.

As the Sultinate Desert Bandits are either overwhelmingly powerful (against a small force of recruits which much be made of q-tips) or too fast to catch making it hard to farm the area around any early holdings.  It's not unlike the problems Steppe Bandits presented in MB.

    Raid goof ruined me

I was playing through Custom for the second time; first attempt ended horribly when I assumed I was could attack the adventurer parties since there wasn't much else around to kill...  This time I was a month away from my first settlement upgrade, was doing very well and off raiding Falconpass...
