Black Screen upon exiting game with Diplomacy Mod

Hey all, Real quick down and dirty on this. I freshly installed 1.125 and upgraded with the 1.126 patch. Then I installed the latest Diplomacy 2.4.2 The main issue is when I quit the game. Once I exit the screen just goes black. Cntl+Alt+Del doesn't work. However, when I hit the power button...

Why is this game so addictive even though it's not perfect?

For me its definitely the "mount" and "blade" thing. I tried playing some older good RPGs again (Gothic, Morrowind, Bloodlines and the like) but it was impossible to bear the bad combat system/fighting mechanics. There is no game that I know of which comes even close to MBW in this aspect. Beating enemies and having a good fight was never so awesome.

 Yes! This one was very cool. I still love the music and have it in my head sometimes. Did you manage to win jousting fights or rescue a lady? this was so hard.

I never did compare it to mount&blade, though. Would rather compare this part of the game to Pirates because of the freedom to move around, the big map and the adventurer feeling.
EDIT: Re-reading your post again I think this may be simply another aspect of the game.

    Lol Glustrod,

I think I remember that one time I won a raid where you had to have the sword fight. I really had no idea what I was doing in that game, but it was the only medieval game around.

For me it was to "live" a medieval lord's life and they've done that to a point. You can own a castle, improve it and garrison it. Build an army with many different unit types. Hire Companions (or Generals) and build them how you like. Not to mention the massive battles!

This is the game I've been waiting for since Defender of the Crown!

Bug reports and known issues (< v3.0)

    Hey all.

I just upgraded to Warband 1.25 and installed the newest Diplomacy. I got a Guild Master quest to drive 81 cattle from Uxhal to Narra. Yet now every time I move on the main map, the game crashes. I reloaded the save and rebooted the computer. I have confirmed that I can drive cattle in Vanilla. Could this be to the size of the herd? Thanks for all help

Also forgot to mention that I am also running the battle resizer. Diplomacy and that are the only mods I'm running.

Does loot skill increase the quality of looting as well as quantity?

I think it points to your "Skill" at looting.

Your ability to identify richer targets for looting and having better time management. Which should result in higher quality items found.

Don't forget that in Medieval times you had camp followers and local residents that would descend on a battlefield. Looting and stripping the dead. I would imagine that your looting skill would allow you to get the goods before anyone else did.

    Giant amries not engaging?

What I do is try to engage the enemy if they are close to you. Generally most of your lords will join you in battle.

    When is 1.106 coming?

We need more of these threads! I am sure that none of the devs are aware that there are still bugs in the game so we should flood the forums!

    review from ChristCenteredGamer.com

I don't see why anyone would need to bash the premise of his site?

There are millions of Christians out there who would like to be able to monitor what their kids are getting involved with. I could imagine many parents and Christians who would like to limit the amount of exposure to violence their children experience. Sure the Bible has it's tales of violence, but do you think that most people would read to their children the more gruesome tales if their children aren't ready for it?

Think for a minute...would anyone really care if it was called Black Centered Gamer or Canadian Centered Gamer?

And just for the record before anyone wants to bash me for coming to his defense, I'm a failed Catholic. I'm just tired of seeing poor Christians bashed for their beliefs when they weren't even preaching in the first place!

    [SUGGESTION] Setup formations BEFORE battle

    Rad,

So that's how it is? I haven't played this game for years so I don't rate to have an opinion on the current state of things? And in case you missed it...they didn't implement alot of things in this release due to the deadline.

You have your opinion and your entitled to it. You've played this game for years and you've come to love what it is. Roger that. So why don't you let those of us here with a fresh perspective discuss what could make the game better and more accessible to the new generation of players.

The new tax system is simply bull****

    nijis 说:
I can't think of a game like this that hasn't had that option!

...which is a big problem with "historical" gaming, imho. Gaming conventions proliferate that have no basis in history.

There are some problems with the tax system, but I do not intend to add a sliding "tax rate." No "tax rate" existed in medieval Europe, as there was no way to estimate revenue without a massive Domesday Book-scale census. Moreover, kings could not change taxes at a whim, and expect any degree of compliance. A ruler could levy special taxes to fund wars or other large-scale expenditures -- but this usually required some degree of consultation with the subjects, and could have unforeseen consequences.

The 2k+ incomes are due to uncollected back taxes.

I agree with you in terms of the simulation part for adjustable tax rates. However, like you did point out. A lord had the option of levying war tax or special taxes for projects or payments to the king when needed. And yes there were potential consequences but the option for an increase was still there.

I would like to see a "Set Tax Rate" option. I can't think of a game like this that hasn't had that option!

Of course higher taxes decrease popularity, but at least you have more control over the influx of money.

    [SUGGESTION] Setup formations BEFORE battle

    Rad 说:
OK, our opions on this matter are different but it's  life. I was never compel to use some high strategy in this game and even if it would be possible here I would probably didn't use it, but maybe yes, because who knows it beforehand.

How can you tell someone what this game is to them?

You view it as an action game, while others can view it as a medieval political and economical simulation. Some can view it as a representation of small scale medieval tactics.

Personally I would like to be able to arrange my troops in a organized matter. You want to run headlong into the enemy...go for it. Some of us would like other options.
