To be frank, this forum redesign is ass

Just like how Reddit decided to "modernize" their website by clumping everything in big plushy buttons and hiding what could have been a simple action behind 2 different menus, the only thing that stopped this from being as crap as Reddit used this as an excuse to implement more advertisements...

[For Imperials] What Imperial Sub-Faction will you play and why?

Sorry for the slight necro but this topic is just too interesting

I don't really think the 3 factions represent significant changes in the way the government would be structured.
No matter which faction wins there will always be an Emperor/Empress at the top and a Senate as advisers/influencers.
Tell that to Charles I. And Louis XVI. Civil wars change governments.

No they don't. All they do is just change who gets to sit on the chair.

The "righteous cause" that movies and books love to portray rebels as is stupid, and rebellions in reality is a stupid idea to begin with. We even have a the Syrian war right now to look at the effects of what happens.

It seems like recent medieval games are generating a following of undesirables

    The article in question https://www.pcgamer.com/rampant-racism-and-toxicity-are-driving-players-away-from-mordhau/

Interesting bit for the TLDR people

It’s clear that Mordhau's developers are unprepared and unwilling to meet the problem head-on, and some players have had enough. Alongside the posts described above sit those lamenting toxicity in the game. "Chat was today an overflowing septic tank of personal insults, racial slurs, and general vitriol and hate. Not a single person was kicked," says a post from this weekend. The same is true on the game’s subreddit, where toxicity is a common discussion topic. "There's such rampant racism in this game and it's really making me not want to play it," reads a post from last week.

Is it possible to introduce more meaningful relationships with Companions?

It does not make sense when you are only allowed to marry the rich noble ladies, all pf them the same stock copy paste ladies, only varied by which poems they like. Its not a dating simulator sure, but the marriage section can be vastly improved further than what we currently have.

Is it possible to introduce more meaningful relationships with Companions?

So far from what I seen it looks as if companions are still fufill the same role of fighting alongside you, but now with the new addition of them acting as meatshields for you in the event of an assassination against you in the streets or taverns. My proposal goes as this: We need to be able...

Proof bannerlord will release late 2019/early 2020.

I wonder if you even know what the definition of "proof" is.

Will we have more advanced ciplomacy and poltics options

More is not always better, most of the mods I seen trying to add more options talking to lords usually are often copy pasted, do the same thing every time, often just flavor text, and don't even take into account the personalities of the lords in question. Like in floris where you can join a lord's army even if you are a nobody, and the lord threatens to cut the throats of peasants barging into his presence. Immersion breaking.

Firstly, different parties in the same army pool their food together, with those that run out of food spending influence in exchange for supplies.

I'm going to have to echo this sentiment here. Seems like a cheap game mechanic to try and introduce a currency to spend, instead of taking the time to write out human interaction. I am so far not a fan of this.

Will the game have more focus on lore, worldbuilding, and story?

I am not completely against more open quests, I am just saying that more drama or action is needed to spice up what would otherwise be a "move from point A to point B" quest, to make them more memorable. I sitll can't remember a memorable quest in my time playing Warband, other than one where I had to deliver cattle to my marshal party, halfway across the map, before they fought a siege and took over the castle, right when I was about to deliver the cattle, forfeiting my quest rewards. What a terrible quest, not a good way to remember a game.

[For Imperials] What Imperial Sub-Faction will you play and why?

They need to come up with better names for the split Empire factions. Imagine how dorfy the name Western Empire would sound if say, in one's playthrough the capitol was taken over by Battanian, and they relocated their land to the south, and other such possibilities. Not to mention its harder to remember.

What else remains to be explained?

That is an interesting theory, but then you have to explain why suddenly the native Nords and Vaegirs split up, and adopt completely different tactics(ie why only Nords have round shields and focus on heavy infantry, Vaegirs focus on archery and bring kite shields to battle). I reckon the lore of Warband will be retconned some point in the future and be written by more expert writers.

    A positive thread!

I do love the setting, roleplaying possibilities set for this game. Although you can probably say this for many other games.

Where are the strong female heroines?

That is only 1 example, out of a couple thousand years in history in Japan.

And another fun note, the wikipedia article to Uchida, only contains 1 source, which is, https://kotobank.jp/word/%E5%86%85%E7%94%B0%E5%AE%B6%E5%90%89-1057909. It never even mentions how he died, only who he served, which clan he is from, and his legacy.

The source itself, mentions no historian, no references from historical written, so I find it really hard to believe that he died to a slash from a katana, when polearms, muskets and bows dominated the Sengoku battlefields, much less the existence of an Uchida Ieyoshi in the first place.

In response to OP, there won't be women in your standard recruitment form armies, but you may see companions, leaders, and important NPCs who are female, and it should stay that way, to represent the rare role women played on a medieval battlefield. You can still choose to play as a female.

Will the game have more focus on lore, worldbuilding, and story?

If I want to read about lore or stories I would buy a book, not a video game.

Similar to how we moved from scrolls to flipping pages on a book, video games are a new medium to help experience stories at a much more immersive pace, and this is an extremely far righted mind to be taking over a revolutionary technology. Video games are not just about mindless enemy killing.

I'd love if Bannerlord would have a more in depth lore side to it. It could be in the form of "books" (like in Kingdom Come Deliverance or Elder Scrolls), snippets in conversations (where you can eavesdrop interesting lore, or where an old enemy faction member scolds you out), maybe even have some unique monuments or historical buildings in cities that already show the lore themselves.

It is extremely hard to weave lore into gameplay with just having books and conversation snippets, there needs to be interaction with the gameworld, and the MC. This route would simply only make the lore less interesting to read.
