  1. Who commands sieges?

It seems that in beta 1.1 whenever allied army arrive at siege they take over command from me and will then sit and do nothing for ages, I am guessing they are still waiting for for me to order attack but I cant. I am still able to build siege equipment though. They will not attack even with...
  2. The new method of discovering weapon parts in smithing doesn't work well

I think it's a sensible improvement. The old RNG way was not very immersive. It's still easy to unlock 2H swords without buying anything but wood. Also, for the impatient, just buying a few javs will allow you to unlock all jav parts in a few minutes. Best bang for the buck.
Amount of unlocked parts depends on weapon price, so unlocking 2H sword is tedious but doable as you have expensive orders available early. 1H swords on the other hand, are quite cheap so you smelt and smelt and smelt and 1 in 4-5 swords give a part. And there are at lest 400 parts for both sword types.

I have to say I do not understand why you have to unlock so many parts. Blades are the most important while rest are mostly cosmetic, so buying for 16k sword worth 3-4k that when smelt produce 1-2 pommels...
It would be better if one "lot" wasn't a single part but rather either a single blade, 2 handles or 4 other parts.
  3. In Progress Somehow Our lords are prisoner at our own castle

Noticed this in my campaign as well - first I noticed multiple occasions of strange reports of various lords captured by their own kingdoms, but assumed it to be problem with reporting until I captured Khuzait castle and released no less than 7 !!! Khuzait lords held prisoner in the castle. I had option to release or to capture them.As if they were from other kingdom our was also at war.

I also seen reports of lords released "due to peace declaration" despite reported kingdoms had not signed any peace treaty at that time.
  4. The problems behind undead factions

The more I play, the more I feel this game was made by people who worked on "free to play" microtransactions games, say WoWS or WoT. Everything here is based on grinding - XP, money, smithing parts etc. And now you have to grind encyclopedia too!
The game is full of great potential but it takes so much time to do something and much of that potential is left in half baked mechanics.
  5. some dumb stuff about companions

The newest beta has companion assignment fixed - you can attach them to any group and they stay there. But it also introduce other problem: companions are invisible until you meet them.
  6. [v 1.1.0 BETA] Hero FoW was a bad idea

Another example just how bad the implementation of this feature is: When you encounter an army, you have to click through dialogue of ALL lords one by one to "meet" them. 10 minutes or so wasted on useless clicking. An that just give you some of the lords of one faction.
  7. [v 1.1.0 BETA] Hero FoW was a bad idea

I think the concept of characters being hidden, while interesting in theory, is terrible in reality in a game with so many of them. Especially as you do not have any way to meet them as a group - you have to literally chase them on the map. I am pretty sure the one who designed this haven't...
  8. Narfs amor pack and update_troop_location_notes_prisoned

    I had the same problem.
When I copy-pasted Narfs changes to txt file (copy-paste armour descr between two last horse entries and end file entry + changed number of items from 603 to 625) the error disappeared, but now Serranid/Vaeygr/Khergit cataphract horses turned invisible.
Does anyone know how to correct this?
  9. Six peasants versus one dismounted knight, revisited

One well trained, thinking swordsman against 12 novices with swords - they stand no chance.  :!:

  10. What do you want in the expansion

    Shire 说:
Timeline is pretty weird, it takes hours of play (months of ingame time) to build a watch tower, yet I can somehow gain experience and become Calradia's most famed hero within a week. How does the news even travel that quick?

Why is archer so overpowered? I'm no historian, but were the bows really THAT accurate, I thought it was more about shooting into mass formations than sniping someone's head from a moving horse at full gallop from 100 meters wearing a full plate armor?

First one: Calradia is kind of small... you can traverse it in 1-1,5 day if you use full cav army - this is about 100-120 km wide.

Second: you cant be that accurate when you use plate armour. You barely could shot a bow if in plate armour. But mail or scale or lammelar is perfectly ok. Horse archery is portrayed accurately - it was THAT deadly. At Carrahe Partian army of HAs and few heavy cavalry defeated 4 times larger Roman infantry/cavalry mixed army.

  11. Rewriting Roman History

Romans were perfectly able to defeat germanic tibes, over and over again. The problem is that germans when defeated could just flee to the woods and regroup to strike later. The biggest problem was capturing and defending taken land. In germania population was scattered in many small villages and no large fortified centres that may serve as garrison. To capture the land it was needed to colonise on huge scale, and romans were not able to protect colonies.
On the other hand, to defeat and capture organised state, Romans usually had to defeat it's army in one of few battles and then take main cities. Later ability to threaten population in the cities was usually enough to keep peace. In germanic forests such threat policy simply didn't work.
  12. SP Medieval New Mod: “Europa - 1300 AD” (Updates, see page 39+40)

Very good that you plan to add Poland!
If you are removing Teutonic order, maybe make special troop tree for HRE to show them?

I may try to provide some info on Polish and Teutonic armies of the period, although not now, but in about a month time, as I have to finish few things.
  13. Heavy cavalry absolutely dominant?

Well... in high medieval period that game more or less try to recreate combined arms were not that much neccesary and knights were dominant. In reality response were deep, well drilled formations of infantry, but AI rarely uses those in game. You will find info on this forum explaining how to use infantry effectively (I like cavalry!)

I never played as Roddock or Nord, but group of Vaegir archers and marksmen with small cav support is quite deadly! Esp if placed on hill.
  14. Carthage: A first look of 268 B.C.

I had meant Sacred Band Inf not cav.
You are using this shield: http://www.macedonian-heritage.gr/HellenicMacedonia/en/img_B1243b.html
And this is Macedonian royal parade weapon

    ealabor 说:
Concerning the shield, it may be that Libyan pikeman might have had larger shields, although I would find it rare to believe seeing as Carthy mainly modelled after Greek. I opted instead to go with a phalangite size shield, which makes more sense considering they will be wielding the same length sarissae. It's also easier for modding perspective considering I can use the same size template shield for them as I do with successor phalangites.

The problem is that phalangitai used 65cm (or maybe even larger) shields. You use size similar to shields portrayed in RTW, but this portrayal is completely wrong. What's more, phalangitai shields used by Hellenistic kingdoms were uniformed within army, covered with bronze plate with relief decoration using specific motifs and name of the issuing king.
There is comprehensive study "Der Makedonishe Shield" by Liampi, published in 1998, should be available from good university libraries.
  15. Carthage: A first look of 268 B.C.

    Looks very nice!

But pikemen shields are still way too small. They should be at least 65cm in diameter.
Also is there any particular reason to use Macedonian parade shield as carthaginian battle shield? (Sacred Band 3rd and 4th pics) This was extremely delicate object, with high relief decoration, that will be completely destroyed after first or second strike.
