As I said before, I like the idea of interaction between companions. I brought up the Baldur's Gate series earlier. Part of what made those games (the second especially) was the wide variety of interactions between player and companions and between companions themselves. M&B simply does it so 1 dimensional (this is not a critique of the PoP team at all). That one grievance is enough in the system to make a companion leave even when everything else is to their liking just feels a bit shallow.
One thing I would encourage down the road in PoP when and if it gets another big update and if there is time is to overhaul this system from the ground up (within the allowances in the engine). Rather than the "I like one person, hate two people, and everyone else is a grilled cheese sandwich" approach of the default M&B system, do a bit more to spruce it up. Add some extra flavor dialogues on occasion and the like. And you know its alright if there are some companions who just CAN'T be in a party together (there are truly major grievances). However, not all of them need to be this extreme and mixing it up a bit make the characters feel more real.
(And I do enjoy what some of the PoP companions say already and don't want to give the impression that I'm criticizing the dev team.)
And for the record, if you ever want some help with fleshing out characters even more in the future, let me know. I enjoy that sort of thing.
