  1. The limitations of current armor system and damage types

When it comes to armor, things are super simple right now. We have a general armor type that applies to every single piece of equipment and the only difference between peasant clothing and lord plate is the magnitude of the armor number. On the weapon side, we have 3 types of damage, and...
  2. Can I use Enterprise inventory for storage?

You can actually store horses in the enterprises inventory. There is where I keep my collection of swaybacked horses that I promised I would fix one day.
  3. Difficult Dillemma

Your current  faction is at war with 3 other factions?

What the hell are you waiting for? This is about the best possible time ever to declare independence. **** relations, recruiting via "join me or rot in my dungeon" is way easier than the talk them into joining you anyway.
  4. I Don't Even Know Where to Start

The early game is fairly grindish.

What I like to do is practice in the arena till I get my proficiencies to at least 100 in the weapons I intend to use. Not only you increase your proficiencies but you also make some decent money to get some stuffs.

After that is companion searching time while soloing any small bandit party I can find and kill with a lance. You could use this time and the fact that you'll be moving from town to town to play the merchant game and buy low and sell high, but I've never bother cause I find it extemely boring.

After that I usually have enough renow to actually join a tournament and enough proficiencies to win on a regular basis, so it's money making time (about 20k per tournament). I use the money to buy decent equipment and start setting up enterprises.  By the time im done with the enterprises I'm usually high enough level and have almost all my companions to consider mercenary job.

Don't bother with village recruits this early in the game. Just recruit every single noble you manage to find in the taverns. They eventually turn into Adventurers and those are the Swadian Knights equivalent in Pendor.
  5. Army Select Bug

Perhaps it is not a keyboard problem like he has been saying since the start of the thead and it's actually some kind of bug or corrupted save problem? Not every single user with a problem is a retard, y'know?

Shields are always a welcome adition to any troop, specially top tier/hard to train ones.

The thing about Scorpions Assassins is that they take forever to train, and in this game everyone an their mother pack some form of ranged weapon capable of murdering your poor Assassin, and you will feel like part of your soul and time dies with him. Specially during a siege where all the ranged fire is concentrated into a small area you are more likely to lose and Assassin than a Blademaster. Think of them like the D'Shar equivalent of the Fierdsvain Berserker or the Empire Gladiator, only better armored and a lil better overall. The beauty of those kind of troops is that they are heavy hitting and disposable, so if you lose one it's not a big deal since most of the time they go down after taking down 3+ enemies and you can easily replace them. Assassins can and will take down 3+ enemies easily, but it will take you a very long time to replace a dead Assassin.

Unless you already got to the point where you can efficiently train 10+ toop tier D'shar troops a week, you are much better turning most of your Bladesmen into Blademasters to help you stockpile them.

If they weren't that stupidly hard to train then I would happily turn more of my guys into Assassin, but given their huge training time and how vulnerable they are to ranged fire, Blademasters are the way to go.
  7. Help! i cant seem to hold my castle!

If there is no way to stop the incoming army you might as well just empty the garrison, let em take it, wait for them to focus on another target and then recapture it. The new garrison should have about 100 men, with very few top tier troops. It should be fairly easy to recapture.

You could also try luring an hostile army to them to thin their numbers and force them to retreat. Or if you have good relations with the other lords you could ask them to help you.

Another option would be trying to defeat their marshal if you manage to find him alone, or even force them to leave him alone. More than once I've been lucky enough to end up in a situation where an unlucky caravan gets caught by the main army, making all the lords join the battle and leaving the poor marshal riding alone towards the castle. If you can defeat him 1v1 then thats a perfect oportunity. That way you'll buy yourself some time to plan your defense or even wait for peace.

Retaking the castle would be the easier option tho, just wait until they are far away and if possible already riding towards a new objective
  8. What are the best and worst factions in PoP? Gives us your opinion!

No matter what or where, 90% blademasters- 10% assassins is a pretty good number. You just add them for a lil extra DPS and the ocassional dagger to the face from across the map. If you really like the assassins you might even push them to 80-20%, but any more than that is not really worth it, Blademasters are way more useful and have better survivality.

Knights fought more often than not dismounted in battle. You should enlighten yourself and reading up a few of the more well documented medieval battles for details before you start assumptions. The trained warhorse of a knight was almong his armour and weapons his most precious posession. Trained warhorses were pretty expensive. A knight would keep such a horse definetly around.

Consider it parked and well treated in a stable in the local vicinity of the walls.
Apart from that, Knights of the Dragon are - just like most other honor troops - awesome foot knights. And they are manly enough to wear a skirt.

Following that line of thinking there should be no pure foot Knight Orders in the game then when there is already a mounted equivalent. No need to have Shadow Legion Centurions and Empire Immortals, or Pendor Knights and Pendor Foot Knights. Just keep the mounted version since they are already awesome foot knights when dismounted.

I know how Knights worked back then, but gamewise we have a separation between mounted Knigths and foot Knights, and foot knights always have better stats/weaponry than their mounted counterpart to justify training them.

All I was saying is that given their lore it would have been a great oportunity to implement either another kickass Foot Knight Order or a badass dragon themed Archer Order that would make more sense lorewise.

But thats just my uneducated opinion.

On another topic, I still don't get it why the well hardened northern man of Ravenstern can be so weak. Kierguard is basically some shiny guards with no real skill. And you can't get those strong Highlander(Ravenstern one, not mercenary). It's against nature for northern man to be so weak on foot, simply because they have good archery.

Mostly for balance purposes I'm guessing. They already have the best archers in the game and access to non noble cavalry. They gotta have a weak spot.

Realistically  theres really no point training awesome warriors when you already kill everything from 100m away. You just need something to hold the line. Some might die to friendly fire due to your OP archers, so no point spending a lot of resources on their training. Just give them some decent armor, a quick training and hope nature has made them strong enough to survive . If they die, salvage the armor and give it to another poor fool. At least thats the logic I see the ravenster using in their infantry. That would explain their quick training time and why are they so inexpensive.

The only thing that doesn't make sense to me is the fact that their Order of the Dragon, the one that was founded in honor of the brave men that defended Rane in a siege are mounted Knights. They should be either awesome foot knights or glorious archers, hell even mounted archers would make some kind of sense. Horses are the only thing that you never see in a siege defense.

  11. Gaining fiefs around towns when you go rogue?

    flyguybc 说:
    1. When I rebel How do I regain the fiefs around my towns back? Is it possible? Or do I have to let them take the town. Then retake it?

    2. If the latter it almost seems better to just be released from my oath and start fresh?

    3. If it is possible how do I get ravenstern king to not give me a town so I can rebel. He likes me a lot so he gives me anything I ask for.

    4. I've seen lots of threads on making CKO so I can look that up. Any tips appreciated.

    5. Like I've said I usually use pendor for base troops. I like Calvary so I would go knights of griffon, with clarion call and silvermist rangers. How is Sarleon overall?  I think they've got good balance between cav/archery. Ultimate goal is to let CKO units be my army with the sergeants being range capable.

Thanks for any help and sorry if some grammar is off. Typing on the ipad in a hurry haha

    1. When you rebell you keep all your towns, castle and their villages. Villages are linked to their respective town/castle, whoever controlls them also has control over them.

    2. It's always easier to just rebell. The only penalty you get is the relations hit, which shouldn't be a problem by then, and the insta war. You still need to go to war with them to reclamin your lands if you are released from your oath, so you might as well save yourself the time and just fill the garrisons and then rebell. That way you'll have a lot more reinforcements than if you were release from your oath and left all your towns with 1 troop garrisoned.

    3. Just keep asking for more and more land. Eventually he will refuse. It's much easier to start a kingdom with a lot of land that with only a single town or castle. The AI takes its sweet time to gather an army and siege a town. If you have a lot of towns they can buy yourself enough time to build your army and recruit lords/turn companions into vassals while they are busy sieging all your towns.

    4. Look at the sticky. It has all the info you need. However, to make good use of them you need enough time to train them and equip them, so plan ahead. We are talking about 150+ days to make them decent.

    5. The only downside of Sarleon is their somewhat lackluster archers. Their cavalry is top tier, and their infantry while not the best is sure decent enough to hold their ground. They are no Blademasters or Huscarls, but they are stupidly easy to train all the way to Man-at-arms, and those morningstars sure help them. Their halberdiers are good enough with proper shield support.

Their archers are just average. Not as good as ravenster rangers or empire armored xbowmans, but not as bad as d'shar dervishes or fierdsvain archers. If you really want powerful archers who decimate armies from a distance you should get them from other kingdoms or train your CKO to fill that spot. Otherwise just use a less archers heavy strat and focus on the strenght of your cavalry and infantry.
  12. [LEGACY] Quick Questions // Quick Answers

    1. I appointed Donavan as my minister (Not sure if its minister, but the guy in your castle you can hire mercenary company's from) anyway, is this a good choice? or should I appoint a random citizen? or another companion? what is the better option?

    2. Should I make more of my companions vassals in the future? would this be a good thing?

    3. How do I get a lord from another faction to join mine?

    1. In order to access all the minister options, the minister should be either a companion or your wife/husband. I personally always make my wife minister, thats the only thing shes useful for. If you are not married, like others have said, make a useless companion minister instead, someone you never use and is not in your party.

    2. Some companions make really good vassals, specially early on when you don't have many lords and need extra men desperatly. What you want in companion vassals is Martial personalities and if possible Special Troops. Boadice (Veccavian troops), Alistair(Knights of Eventide), Donovan (Barclay troops) are all good choices.

You can check their personalities and troops in the wiki:

    http://pop3.wikia.com/wiki/Companions

    3. There two ways. If you have high enough CHA and Persuation you can talk them into joining you. They need to have low relations with their liege in order for this to work tho, your relation with them must be higher than their relation with their current king.

The other way is have high relations with them, defeat them in battle and capture them. If you have enough relations with them you can offer them their freedom in exchange for them to join your kingdom.
  13. I have a town! What next?

Now that you have a town youn can start stockpiling troops for future use. Start thinking where do you want to start your empire and aim to claim those town when you get marshall position. Try to keep the Empire in line, don't allow them to grow stupidly strong or you'll face a lot  problems when you rebel.

Also, start saving up more money. You'll need a lot more than 50k to start a kingdom and succesfully defend it. 250k sound like a decent number.

The perfect time for rebelling is when your old faction is at war with the second strongest faction on the map. That way they will be left fightning 2 wars, giving you enough time for building huge garrisons for when they attack and recruit lords or companions.

So basically stockpile troops and money, and make good use of the marshall position to either claim your desired towns or keep them busy fighting armies so they wont claim a lot of land and grow too strong.

  15. What are the best and worst factions in PoP? Gives us your opinion!

The worst, for the player at least, are the Fierdsvain. The only thing they have going for them is the huscarls, that you wont be getting in big numbers till very late in the game, and to a lesser extent the AA.  The rest of their troops are absolute garbage, even zerks who are only good at autocalcs.

I actually injoy D'Shar runs. Even tho they share the same problem with the Fierdsvain of beeing only good in the infantry department, the rest of their troops actually server a purpose. Even their pitiful archers are useful for absorbing cavalry charges and dehorsing riders, and dervishes are decent lancers and general annoyance for the enemy archer line.
