Thank you all for your relevant comments. I'm surprised the change hasn't been done yet, seeing how many PWers agree with that.I guess we'll just have to wait for the change

A few answers though:

I think the 70% of people doesn't want engineer because this class can't have the heraldic mail with tabard (for example), for this problem I think you can put plate armor only for man at arms and sergeants (theese class will have 16 strengh for example, just a little difference)
-I dont think the armor is the issue.For example, miners have no armor whatsoever, and they still have some relative success.It's all about money making in my opinion.

Craftable armor sounds good, but to give some authenticity some things like skinning would be needed to be implemented in the game.
-Let's not go too far yet, I know how slow and difficult a change can be in such a game

I have better idea... Add admin command to add 20+ stock to all weapons or to a specific castle if no engineers are present.. but the whole idea is to actually hire an engineer or post a poster ingame saying your hireing engineers to work for your faction... i personally play engineer most of the time for combat and just general money making.
-We can't rely on such a system if we want players to be autonomous and classes to be balanced. My philosophy is, the less admin intervention in game, the better, assuming that the whole game balance is right.
The idea is not how to maintain weapons everywhere by the mechanics, the idea is to force people to craft weapons they want to use, aka "preparations for war", a little more then pressing F once at least.
I mean adding an option ofr admins to mass spawn things things, why not, but not for the reason to make admins able to restock armories.
That's the ******** engineers job, if you got non, you can't just cry for an admin
==> You got it

Then why not cancel armoury from every castle? Why not build shops in city instead? Weapons inside shop, counter (or weapons on counter, if we want to make it more automatic). More realistic, town will be living, etc. Eventually weapon stocks with price of zero and players selling weapons to warriors.
Good thing is, you'll be able to pick up weapons directly as you spawn as a commoner, yes. I always find it frustrating to not be able to get a decent weapon as soon as I spawn in a resetted server.
However, this means we will get much more armed commoners, which means more randoming and less wars, as they do not feel linked to a group rule and will probably kill on their own as they won't be able to participate in wars, wars which themselves will be shrinked because of the loss of faction members caused by the town shop ( hope you can understand

).Little changes, but that can have a big effect on gameplay, and the idea I fight for right now is to have organised,roleplaying and correctly warfaring factions rather than the actual commoner guerilla.I believe town shops will lead to the latter.
