A S*****ist versus a Communist

Users who are viewing this thread

So yesterday i was playing in the siege server in between crashes. People were chatting away and i could fill in the usual gaps when people were slinging cusses back and forth like motherf***er etc. At some point somebody typed a word which came out like so****ist. So after reading back i figured the word was supposed to be socialist and wondered if communist would be ok. So somebody explain to me why on earth would a socialist scale as a worse person than a communist.

Tldr : profanity filter is working great

We haven't tried real communism, so it's still on the table still, whereas we already have socialism and it's poopy.

Enlighten me about the Turkish flag and socialists and communists. Give me a lecture about the Kemalists as well if you please.
then get a college degree on sociology, you will understand your own question. contrary to common believe, in university no matter it's oceanic origin or continental origin it all study Marxist work very thoroughly.

The profanity filter is based on a list of words we deem unsuitable for a civil discussion - these words get replaced with stars (****) even when part of longer words - for example, "assist" used to be "***ist". We do, however, have a whitelist of words that we continuously improve by adding words that shouldn't be filtered. If you see any words filtered that shouldn't be filtered (f.e. "assist"), we would appreciate it if you sent them to me and we'll add them to the whitelist.

Simple question, you guys are using your own list of words / system for this? Why not use a pre-existing list or system? Seems like a lot of work to continuously add to this list and it is not even working properly.

Presumably they didn't start from scratch but started with someone else's list (though they created their own white list because somehow they didn't know they would need one.)
Having said that, there are readily available commercial solutions that handle evasion tricks and even cover the most used languages (like this one).
Why didn't Taleworlds set this up professionally from the beginning is a very good question.

You know you can just put *s and have fun with unnecessary c****rship.

Convoluted like this entire game basically.

Do that with every words you filtered, it will be much faster than waiting for people to complain about their word being censored.

You can thank me by making good updates.

There gotta be a place on the internet where you can find a comprehensive list of offensive words. I refuse to believe otherwise
Unquestionably the most appropriate way address this matter is by employing a comprehensive list of these words. Whichever way you go about this, people will always be able to find workarounds. Namely, writing a s s instead of ass. If that is blocked too, they will use @ s s, and so on. The amount of possibilities to go around offensive words are endless. Therefore I will repeat myself, the best way to deal with this is by using pre-existing lists of words and adding to those lists if absolutely necessary. My guess is that there are indeed firms selling such lists in numerous languages.

With all that being said, it is rather hard to grasp any of TaleWorlds' exasperating vision. Allocating resources to matters such as the latter would strike me as something more suitable for a later time. At some point in time, it is hard to say when, we will have custom servers. There, people can manage their own servers can they not?

We already have a comprehensive list of both filtered and whitelisted words - any additions to these are minor in comparison to the number of words already filtered/whitelisted. I was simply saying that if you catch anything odd, feel free to send it to me and we can add it to the lists.
