An open letter from the Kingdoms of Arda team, and the total-conversion mod community

What a mess. Modding is the only thing that makes this ****ty game playable.

It should be an absolute priority in every step they take. Every addition or change to the game should have the modding community in mind. A lot of big talented modders have stepped away and the few that are still trying are being frustrated.

What a ****ing mess.

Any plans to do a reckoning overhaul for bannerlord, if modders would be support appropriately by Taleworld? I really enjoyed you mod in warband.
I would potentially, definitely would like to create something for bannerlord but yeah waiting for it to come out of EA at least. I think I might be a little less ambitious to begin with this time though - The Reckoning was way too big a project for me to do on my own (I was also only 16 when I started it) - hence why it was full of bugs. Glad people remember it/enjoyed it though!

The frustration and the reasons why this letter has been written are completely understandable; I deeply empathise with its creators. However, I support the argument that Bloc has shared with us; quite reasonable and plausible.

The one thing I want TW to do is to make spearmen use their spears by default. All the phalanx/pike formation mods are being screwed right now because spearmen keep using their sidearms against enemy infantry. TW just need to fix this and I'll be happy.

Aragorn: "Hope is on a vacation"

We are forced to stay in pre-production indefinitely due to inaccesibility of the modding. I can't bother to spend my time doing bad practices, no programmer will/should do it for free.

They threw the modding tools at our face like dogmeat and expect us to do marvels with it. Lmao.

The Modder Teams should try to get into contact with some Bannerlord youtubers who are close to the community like "Resonant" for example. I am sure if he reports abouts this in one of this videos it will build some pressure on TW to actually do something.

I dont know HOW much of a CLICKBAIT such a video could or would be. You're sure his audience has the mental capacity to listen to him talking about a serious matter? A simple search on YouTube brings up a sole negative(?) video by him titled ''A FANS criticism of Bannerlord...'', likely published during the Beta with 50k views, any other positive video by him with fun or exciting content gives him easily 100k views. You'd almost think some content makers wouldn't want or dare risk annoying some of their viewers who almost certainly loves Bannerlord as it's already their ideal game nonetheless of the boring MP and lack of total overhaul mods, and aren't interested in hearing criticism.

+1, this clickbait youtuber is not really the best choice for something like that

Is it only me who tells me that an answer from Callum is nothing ? as long as nothing has been done so far I will not start to believe the words of a community manager, let alone that of Callum

He only said they would do something about documentation and discuss the rest of the demands.
Now he could have said they won't do anything about docs because they don't have time. But he didn't and they will put the most useless intern on the case.
Also they would probably cave in on exposing all those "internals" because it's trivial to do it.
The last demand about modders being treated as a privileged group with a special access to the devs is likely just a modder fantasy.
So maybe Callum is not a devil, but a professional PR specialist and we should wait for the outcomes and decisions in these secret talks anyway.

Thanks for writing this open letter. We, YiGu Studio, also agreed with your proposal.
We would like to cosign this Open Letter.
We are the team who make the `Three Kingdoms` Mod of MB2.

Definitely supporting this. Mods and modded multiplayer communities were the reason I played Warband for thousands of hours, lack of modifications and these communities is also the reason I have less than a hundred in Bannerlord and I know there's thousands just like me waiting on modded communities, like PW, PK&PF.
