Bannerlord Online mod

Knight at Arms

So this got released to early access yesterday, and I'm currently in game farming and harvesting wheat with some South American dude. It's working flawlessly so far though there is only a Russian server at the moment and I'm yet to have a large battle to see how that lags.

But definitely get onto it if you want to give it a shot, it's awesome. There's no NPC parties but there are still looters and hide-outs, and custom-made quests. Very impressed by it and it should scratch the persistent world itch for anyone friending.

Some sort of witch craft. The netcode seems to be different than native MP as the effects of lag are more of delayed hit registration compared to the floaty, underwater lag effects you get with bad ping on the base game. I hope that's just because the server is based in Russia at the moment and I'm far away from there.

You can even enter the arena and have fights with other people. Step your game up TW you're being out done here lol.

If it works fine then a testament to russian reverse engineering ability and bannerlords modding potential for sure.

Similarly many games without any multiplayer functionality like subnautica, ocarina of time or morrowind have been expanded (with varying success) by painstaking work to allow for a multiplayer experience (morrowind relies entirely on essentially a remake of the game engine, openmw). Bannerlords moddability is on a completely another level compared to the base game for most of these projects. I believe we will start to see more and more proof of the potential if brlord can maintain the interest of modders (by both its versatility for modding and being an interesting base game).

I don't expect this to be perfect and development tends to be slow on these kinds of things but this is an extremely interesting project!

edit: Hopefully the possible custom netcode or deeper modifications to the base brlord game wont be a legal problem.

Yeah, I hope this doesn't run into any legal trouble like that, but surely mother Russia will protect it regardless

I find the way it all works really great, it's just pretty bare bones in terms of things to do at the moment. When they add in more jobs, quests, PvP and territory control it will be a truly amazing experience in my eyes.

How is the Morrowind multiplayer mod by the way? I've never heard of it but if it works great I'd love to play through that with some mates.

It's tes3mp. most of the base game is playable (main quest is completable afaik). expansions have script problems with many quests (they are more elaborate) so they're partly unplayable.

There's some quirks and some minor but important things like certain scripts are unsynced but it works most reliably if you stay in a single group and do the same things (in the latest version i think you can even do stuff like the rare escort quests). You can fight mobs (full sync) or pvp, complete quests, enchant items, use crafted spells and potions etc. Latest update has been a very long time coming but seems to be still in very slow active development.

When Taleworlds issues a cease and desist we will be able to joke about how Taleworlds has put more time, effort, and manpower into stopping other people from developing Bannerlords multiplayer than they have developing Bannerlords multiplayer and we won’t be wrong.

If this mod is better than what we have right now in Native - it has to be stopped!

This is all I want. Or rather almost all I want. I want to be able to create a private room for only me and my mates to play the game in the exact same sandbox we have in the original.

There is a co-op mod in the works that aims to emulate that, along with all the NPC shenanigans that goes on in the game too. It's just called 'Bannerlord Co-op' and is making progress, though it seems that they're a ways behind this mod at the moment. Of course their infrastructure must be different especially to accommodate for all the AI going on too, but hopefully the two mods can share knowledge with each other to progress both.

Yeah that Co-op mod seems to be exactly what I want lol. I will download this and play anyway, will be fun to just roam around with freinds and bash some looters togehter.

Download at your own risk, I guess. I don't know enough about tech either to make any real comment on that, but I can vouch for the mod itself working as intended. Maybe give it a shot if you have a burner PC

It sounded too good to be true, so I checked in Virustotal and got this since only one of the engines detected this it could be an error, I don't want to undermine the work that has been put into this, I don't know enough about tech stuff to tell if this is a false positive, but I thought I would leave this here
