Greetings warriors of Calradia!

By now, you’ve probably heard that we recently shared the first batch of modding tools. We are really excited by the initial reaction and blown away by many of the amazing creations that have already been shared on our modding forums and the community modding Discord!

To celebrate this key milestone, and to show our appreciation of the creative talent within our community that has long supported our games, we’ve decided to host an event with some pretty substantial prizes up for grabs thanks to our friends at Intel!

First up, we have a Scene Design Contest where entrants will need to create a village scene using the Scene Editor tools in the Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord - Modding Kit. Now, we know that this might sound like a bit of a daunting task, so we went ahead and prepared a Scene Design Contest FAQ detailing all of the information you need on how to access the tools all the way through to submitting your scene, including a handy checklist for ensuring your scene contains all of the relevant elements. When the contest ends, all of the submissions will then be released publicly to be used by our modding community for inclusion in various Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord modifications.

Scene Design Contest Prizes:
1st Place - BANNERLORD CUSTOM PC by Intel®
2nd Place - Intel® NUC 9 Extreme Kit
3rd Place - Intel® Core™ i7-8700K Processor

Next, we have a 2D Art Contest where entrants will need to submit an original piece of Bannerlord themed 2D art. All kinds of works will be accepted, be it a painting, a hand-drawn sketch, or digital art, so please feel free to get involved using whichever format works best for you! Details on how to enter the competition can be found in the 2D Art Contest FAQ.

2D Art Contest Prizes:
1st Place - Intel® NUC 9 Extreme Kit
2nd Place - Intel® Core™ i7-8700K Processor
3rd Place - Mount & Blade II Custom Razer Gigantus V2 Large Mouse Pad

And finally, if scening or drawing isn’t for you, we have a Screenshot Contest where entrants are challenged to share a single screenshot alongside a caption describing the event. For this contest, we want entrants to imagine themselves as a war reporter and capture an iconic moment from their adventures. Details on the rules and requirements can be found in the Screenshot Contest FAQ.

Screenshot Contest Prizes:
10x Mount & Blade II Custom Razer Gigantus V2 Large Mouse Mat

Entries for each contest are open from now up until 23.59 UTC+3 on February 26th, with the winners being announced shortly after.

We look forward to seeing what you all come up with and wish you the best of luck!

great idea, good encouragement for creativity and the results will inspire others.

One quick question - Screen shot rules say no mods allowed from what i read just checking thats correct. Bit sad for me but i understand that TW want to show of their hard work.

2nd Question - how about camera mods? Because that will give a better medieval war photographer view - but then again you may wish to capture the 1st person feel, so understandable each way.

Maybe if mods are completely banned from the screenshot comp maybe something for moded games to show off their stuff - no prizes maybe just kudos. Just as moding will be a big part of this and i think could be quiet visual feast as well.
(as u will see below my screen shots would definitely disqualify me

@Dejan

Can we use Bannerlord's logo at our 2D-work?(if yes where can i find original/hi-quality one?)
Can we take SS from our CustomBattle map which prepared at twin BannerlordLauncher's scene editor? (heightmap importing is valid so.. our custom battle can be valid too?)

As per rules, no modifications are allowed. The native game itself, however, has a console via which you can hide UI (ui.toggle_ui) and enter the "camera" mode (CTRL + K).

Sure, one is on our front page.
If you mean creating a scene in our scene editor and then taking a screenshot of it - No, that would mean a modification to the native game and that's against the contest rules.

So, screenshots from Bannerlord's custom battle runs( which has maps that made at scene editor via by players), and direct screenshots from scene editor = are not allowed. True right? I don't want to miss these oppurtunities if they are allowed.

No screenshots of a custom scene made via our scene editor are allowed.

I have a question about the scening. Sometimes half of my map in a square gets glitched and turns all of it into soil or similar, and sometimes the orientation of some objects changes on its own... will this affect the outcome of my map for the competition? Cheers

Edit: I have changed the colour and mesh of some props will this transfer over to your guys end when I submit? Everything is still native just for example I’ve switched out some parts of walls for different culture walls etc and coloured them.

Question about the 2D art contest. If we are doing it digitally, are we allowed to use 3D elements as long as the final product is a 2D image? Or does it have to be completely 2D only (like only using photoshop for example)?

We'll judge whatever we receive on our end when you upload the scene to our system. If you're running into any bugs or glitches then please report them here - https://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php?forums/bug-crash-reports.784/

If you changed, modified or added some 3D asset, material or texture that isn't already in native then that change won't come to us. If you used a colour modifier then that change should transfer to us. Feel free to contact me via the modding Discord and we can test the scene prior to you submitting it to make sure everything is getting to us.

Depends on what you mean by 3D elements, are you planning to send us a render of a textured model (made in Blender f.e.)? That's a no-go for example.

No not just a basic render of a 3D model. More like using 3d elements (character, props etc.) in the process of making a complete scene and perhaps with paintover at the end. Similar to a lot of the concept art for games and film out there. Would that be allowed?

A few examples of what I mean:

Hey
Just following up about my last question in case it was missed. I understand that a simple render of a 3D Would using 3d models and renders mixed with digital painting to create a 2d arteork be allowed. Similar to the techniques used in the artwork below:

It's ok to use a 3D model as a reference, even painting on top of it, to produce a 2D image but 3D models itself are not allowed.
