Maybe try to make the game more of a challenge? recruit from your culture only.

hi,
i've been playing a lot. but in the latest builds i found out that it is possible
to make it difficult, and it's also the style i like to play.
so what i do is f.e if i'm playing sturgia, only sturgian recruits plus mercenaries and searaiders.
if i'm playing aserai only recruits from aserai.
simply if i'm playing a culture, i get an army only from the faction i play, the bandits that develop
to a troop from my culture.

it gives me more of a chalenge, and it obliges me do city-village quests.

This is how I play actually. My culture only and the culture of any Fief I own. Also... try playing with "no markers" above your soldiers heads.. no "kill feedback" etc... And if you want even more challenge... install Custom Banners and Uniforms Color Pack with KingdomColor. The only way you know who to attack is by looking at their shield banner.. and knowing your troops are your culture.

That´s what I've done and so my friends as well. I mean we choose a culture and want to play it. Problem is that we have either has to join as vassal and hope that we loose a city and then retake it, or from the start , play as another faction and then take over. And to make matter worse, if you play non empire kingdom you usually end up with granted some empire culture. And empire is the only culture i dont like

Lots of good inspiration we can take from Total War as far as this concept goes. Recruiting Mercs is okay but the best upgrades come from troops from our own culture. Would require building cultural barracks and a smithy in each castle or city we capture in order to train and equip troops.

yes that's a nice idea. i think that some of those were in viking conquest. my only
idea in this that i could add, is maybe exchange of populations. like in history turkish
who lived in greece were exchanged by greeks living in turkey. or indian's and pakistanians.

Another way to to make the game harder is to play with your eyes closed. i find this really creates a challenge.

lol, there could be a method even more difficult, having bannerlord playing while watching pornhub

if there was customization of troop equipment, then there would be no problems.

personally i'd like to customize f.e sturgian troops conquered by f.e empire with a system of auxillia.
something like what the romans did, where they'd have their legions from rome, and on the other
hand the auxillian legions/cohorts. at some point the auxilia where equal in numbers to regular legions.
but with some penalties on their equipment.

It should be a late-mid or early-high level perk to unlock the ability to hire troops from other cultures.

Been there, done that. Done 600 days Imperial mercenary campaign without any non-imperial units. As result I was playing without any heavy cavalry most of time. Not hard, but not fun also,

This suggestion reminds me of a lad around here, who wanted TW to implement that player should manually buy armour and weapons for his troops.

Thank you, but no, there's a fine line between challenge and masochism

Though, I don't mind if that would've been an optional feature)

This is something what already in full player control, so option already there.

Off topic I guess, but cavalry annoy me. Always getting in the way or spending most of their time just riding to and from the point where they can attack. Horse archers are ok until the run out of arrows.

But I always choose Khuzait background because of better stat options from 1st choice and best heritage ability. I only want Khuzaits anyways so this is opposite day.

After my initial 40 man warband I just take their best city and recruit by force from the rest, so much better then trying to play nice.

I don't understand the whole "please take away our options" mindset, I usually play by this rule but only in my head the whole concept of making it a rule for everyone just seems like the "hardcore" gang trying to force their way of playing. People seriously need to learn more restrictions is bad, more options is good.

An example of why this shouldn't be a thing IMHO:
I currently have a Vlandian play-through as a wannabe king of Rohan (so everyone is on a horse) I recruit Vlandian, Sturgian, Battanian & a couple of Imperial units plus rarely the Khuzait & Aserai prisoners but if this was made a hard rule my playthrough would be ruined without me grinding my way up to get a perk which would negatively affect my enjoyment, all because someone wants a "hard" rule in place that is a perfectly fine "soft" rule.

Wait for a LOTR mod.

That's nice for you but it shouldn't be a forced restriction just because it's too easy for you

Even VC became too easy with its restrictions.

are you just 1337 gamer trolling?

Viking conquest was insanely hard on the easiest settings, even after using the tweak tool to make certain things easier and more financially rewarding and making food last much longer and improving morale much more, and modding the siege mechanic to make sure none of my guys died during the random events and more of the AI troops died during those events the game was still very difficult. The only truly beautiful thing about Viking Conquest was the fortified siege camp and shieldwall fighting at at the gates of a settlement. But the constant wheeling around of your formation made those things suck in the end as well and after watching a cool shieldwall battle for a while you eventually had to ctrl + alt +f4 the battle because your entire formation decided to turn around and expose it's flank because of 1enemy cavalry unit straying to the side, I really wish we had the fortified siege camp and the current bannerlord formations mechanics, it would be glorious to place your shieldwall at the entrance and watch the shieldwall battle knowing your troops can't be outflanked and it finally comes down to quality of men and the formation instead of numbres

This!

Everyone can just play like that if they really want to. But I would be annoyed if this option would be forced for me.

This is a singleplayer game so let everyone just play like they want. If I have fun to recruit the best troops of all factions and haved a mixed army just let me do this. If you want to recruit only troops from one faction then just do this.

It´s not a competetive game at all.
