SP - General Distinguish imperial factions by different succession mechanics

To further differentiate the three different factions of empire, I would suggest that each adopt a different method of succession to the faction leadership, to highlight the distinctions between them. The southern empire should handle succession on a hereditary basis, as Rhagaea advocates (I might also recommend adding a few more relatives to her family tree to help with this), while the north should conduct an election among its various clan leaders in accordance with senatorial principles. In the west, Garios is an enthusiast of the soldier-emperor template, and succession should be calculated based on some combination of leadership ability and the number of troops under the candidates' command.

Seconded! Especially since a lot of the lore/fluff behind the clans suggests that the clans support who they do because they believe in the method of succession that the ruler is advocating.

Also agree about adding relatives to Rhagaea's family tree -- for one thing, Ira isn't correctly set as Rhagaea's daughter for some reason. For another, dead Arenicos should be there too -- he's kind of important.

That would be really great. I also noticed Rhagaea's family has no relative. I guess they forgot.

Thankfully it's a very easy fix in heroes.xml -- Ira's entry needs to be changed to this:

Code:
<Hero id="lord_1_37" is_noble="true" mother="Hero.lord_1_14" faction="Faction.clan_empire_south_1" text="{=ZwavTRcF}Ira is the daughter of Rhagaea, one of the three claimants to the imperial throne, and the slain emperor Arenicos. At one point, her father appeared to be grooming her as his heir. But though she took well to military campaigns, she also displayed a wild side unbecoming of imperial dignity, carousing in taverns with other young aristocrats and even appearing in the arenas as a gladiator. She is Rhagaea's heir-apparent, but her mother makes no secret of wishing to find her a responsible consort to ensure the continuity of the dynasty." />

Basically adding mother="Hero.lord_1_14" is all that's needed to get Rhagaea and Ira correctly related.

Adding dead Arenicos would not only be good for Rhagaea and Ira, but then it might also correctly set Arenicos's nephew Patyr as a relation as well.
