Redwall Mod

Welcome to the thread for the Redwall mod. When I first started playing Mount and Blade some years ago, I thought, "I hope there is a Redwall mod for this." Unfortunately, there wasn't. I decided to take it into my own hands and at the very least attempt to introduce a Redwall mod.

What is Redwall? It is an awesome series of children oriented novels written by the English author Brian Jacques. It is a medieval themed world where people are replaced by animals. It centers around the great red sandstone abbey called Redwall in which live all manner of peaceful creatures. There is a great amount of spectacular places and characters. There are great warriors and evil villains which follow in great battles.

Goals for the mod:
-replace people with animal species from the series
-give attribute/skill bonuses based on species (for example: badgers get +2 ironflesh/powerstrike etc)
-replace Calradia with the world/map of Redwall
-replace cities/villages/castles with Redwall locations
-remove horses
-new heroes from Redwall series
-new factions from Redwall series
-new troop trees based on Redwall series
-some water transportation (either sailing or transport through conversations)
-new items (especially food :mrgreen: )
-various new gameplay enhancing modifications (to be discussed, expanded upon)

Who is needed? EVERYTHING
I can do scene editing decently well, create quests and characters etc, writing, and very basic coding
So coders, modelers, texturers, and etc are all needed. We defintely need someone who knows (or can readily figure out) how to "add" new species (as was done in the Star Wars mod for example). Also someone to model the new species.

A full overview of the island. Most of the island will be an accessible and playable area. Sailing towards the island will also be possible in the future.

I'd love to have some help. What can you do?

As a side note: besides working on the scene(s), I'm currently going to be working on characters and troop trees.
 
Sweet. Books were great. Didn't think someone would make a mod can't wait till this is done. Did a report on his one of his books for school.

Well, my strongest side is working with the module system, such as troops, items, little scripting etc.. My modelling is very poor and so is my texturing. Scene building can be called 'decent'. But recently I made my first model with wings and so I am picking it up a bit.

I don't know if I can help you with my limited skills and since I have another mod where I am working on, I do not have a very large amount of time. But still, I would like to help if you would let me to.

note: it seems people are leaning towards the whole Redwall map. I might start making scenes for other notable locations fairly soon (like Marshank, Floret, St. Ninian's, Noonvale and etc. (Salamandastron must be in, but it will be difficult)

Well, making the main map is a very important part. If you could do that, it would be awesome. It seems the poll is leaning towards the entire Redwall series map, so if you start anything, keep that in mind. I personally think we should give it a few more days for the poll to add up. But the map will be a big part. I can find some screens of the maps as well.

You don't need to be a modeler. Once we get the species successfully integrated, then there won't be a whole lot of modeling work to do.

I will do my best :smile:. I'll look too for some more info on this serie to know where I am up to :razz:.
 
The books are awesome, good luck, you're going to need it for this project. When will this be set? The time when Martin the Warrior still lived?

I recommend starting with "Redwall" the first book written.

My personal favorites are:
Taggerung, Outcast of Redwall, Legends of Luke, Martin the Warrior, Rackety Tam, Mossflower, Mattimeo (also Eulalia was pretty good compared to some of the other new books. I have yet to read the latest two in the series though)

We haven't decided yet. I'll probably put a poll asking that very question soon. I'm thinking either: when Martin was still alive after "Legends of Luke", Some time either before or after the short Mariel series, after Mattimeo when Matthias was still the Warrior of Redwall, or Some uncertain time well after the latest book.
 
I think the best was the first book where Martin the warrior arrived to Redwall and the building of Redwall.

Maybe you should set it in the period of the Mattimeo books, when the crows infest Redwall whilst Mattimeo is on his way to save the young ones from the pit.
 
I always thought something like this would be fun. Granted, it might take a while to make the creature models and skeletons, but well worth it! LOL @ squirrel archers.

That was "Mossflower", definitely one of the best

I personally don't want the time period to be during one of the books because the books usually cover such small periods of time.
 
hey guys, list the "factions" you want represented in the mod. (note that not all may make it in and some might be integrated together for practical reasons)
