Um no, the huns avoided rome until they took control of all the other nearby nations.
This was so that they;
A) wouldn't have an enemy at their rear and
B) could absorb their troops into their own army.
If they hadn't done that, and started raiding the Eastern Roman Empire BEFORE they attacked the western empire, then they would have had far too few troops and the Eastern Empire would have sent some of it's own troops to help the Western Empire.
