Joined just to say how frustrated I am by the comments. I've been following closely since the teaser in 2012 and have refrained from commenting so far, but I don't want the devs to be discouraged by a community who can't see that a seemingly simple addition like this requires a decent amount of time throughout a work week. It's obvious that those who are frustrated are not software developers, or have never read a scientific journal to understand and implement a technology. Any feature like this takes longer than anticipated, but is entirely worthwhile. I understand the community who are frustrated, but reading this blog demonstrates how much effort and time goes into making every small feature possible. The research, the discussion, the development, the testing and the bugs.
IMO DayZ's realism was affected by the poor lighting engine which allowed you to see clearly in a room from a great distance.
I applaud Taleworlds for not cashing out like so many studios these days, who release a game in an eternal 'beta'. For instance Bohemia Interactive realised they would not make any more money even if they released a heavily improved DayZ, as everyone has already bought the beta. Instead they released the same half finished game on consoles to rake in more money, but still never make small improvements like this GI. Rushing can only result in wasted potential.
tl;dr /rant Devs keep it up and don't be discouraged by a noisy impatient few.
