Morale is a key factor in warfare. An army can be greater in number, better trained and exceptionally equipped, but without the will to fight, none of that matters. Conversely, high morale can see people through extreme hardships, giving them the determination to press on and continue the fight long after all hope is lost, only to grasp victory from the jaws of defeat.

I can't wait anymore to get my hands on Bannerlord. Haven't got the beta yet I wonder if I will get one ever  :cry:

Can you get semi permanent boosts or decreases to morale If you are honourable or deceitful? Like soldiers will like fighting under a commander with a good reputation more than under one who is known to cut and run?

What happens to your party on the campaign map after a battle when your force have fled the field? Do you get them back, or do they desert?

Can you round up deserters or scattered parts of your army and force them back in to your party?

Do soldiers ever surrender, or do they just run away and wait to be cut down by pursuing cavalry?

Looks like soldiers routing won't be more complicated than Warband, it's a shame. Would be great to be able to rally the troops. Oh well, I'm at least hoping that the morale system works better than what we've seen in gameplays so far and AI is much less inclined to fight till the last man. I assume that armies retreating orderly from visibly lost fight won't be a thing either.

Interesting, in the first pic, to see the falling foot soldier has an arrow in the back of his head; friendly fire?

The moral system described adds a great aspect to the battles. Wondering if it is possible to show a simulation battle, e.g., a larger force with very low moral fights another with very high moral. It might be even better to provide a top view of each soldier colored by their moral level and we can how the moral changes over time as they fight and eventually see a chain effect happening and soldiers flee.

In fact, this already sounds very interesting to me I might just work on a visualization tool of this myself when TW releases early access:)

As with siege AIs, the description sounds cool and all, but I am yet to see a battle video, that shows reasonable morale or AI in Bannerlord. Granted, I've not watched plenty of them (I get tired easily watching someone else play), so if anyone has anything showing the content of today's blog in practice, please feel free to share.
