However, this year, things are a little different... For the first time ever we will be presenting the game in both the business and public areas of the event. This means that anyone with a ticket can come along to one (or both!) of our booths to play the game for themselves. This is a completely new experience for us and we are sure there will be many unforeseen challenges that crop up, but, so far, our preparations have been going well and we are really excited to be able to show the game in (somewhat) its entirety!

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/122

Shaxx, yeah you're right indeed they have started developing it before 2012, but we just want to be nice with them saying its only 7 years ^^ There is definetely a Warband 2 missing between Warband and Bannerlord...

I don't know if they deserve it, if they hit the 10 year mark without even having a release date, I doubt you could really call them a game developer anymore. A game publisher? Possibly, with them having granted the license to use the Warband engine out to a few other developers who, you know, actually made games with it.

What kind of "game development studio" can't make a single game inside of a decade? And queue people mentioning a handful of other games that took longer than 10 years to make, but in almost all of those occasions the studio released other titles under it's own power in the interim of making that specific title... it had still made games inside of a decade.

Further inspection of titles that took longer than 10 years to make, how many of them turned out successful/enjoyable and did not in some fashion spell the end of it's franchise or the studio that made it? The numbers here are not in TaleWorlds' nor Mount and Blade's favor.

I really think if they announce nothing about single player beta at Gamescom people gonna start to stop being nice !
I don’t know how the others, but I will not be good. I will not follow the game anymore, only after release.

Multiplayer.... yawn.

Yeah Taleworlds, there really has to be announcement. Open Beta that isn't restricted to Skirmish multiplayer. Custom battle maps would be good but early game Single player is preferable!

Oh what a surprise, this blog is not expected at all! Tell me more... But over here

I wonder if Taleworlds as a company, has achieved a record attendance from 2015 to 2019 consecutively with the same product... :iamamoron:

@Zabfalat, I (seriously) attest that they are polishing things and that is an example of many who attest to it.

A few things that may or may not have been answered already but seem too vague to be able to search for.

1. Are those premade characters (Brogomir, Viltis, and the other whose name eludes me) lords and lady in the actual sandbox?
1a. Brogomir’s and Viltis’ backstories were pretty incredible and deep while the female’s seemed sorely lacking. Brogomir is a soldier who needed a leader that could understand him, Viltis is a cunning man with the means to do what he needs/wants, while the female is some person who helped villages and now works for a tyrant in direct contrast to the little we know of her.

2. Will captain mode be available for sieges? Or only field battles? I’ve only ever seen the field battles and I personally feel that a siege setting would make the captain mode incredible. Conquerors Blade seems to have been doing well with it in spite of its garish uniforms and disregard to any kind of time period.

+1
I never thought about Captain Mode and sieges. All the tools are available for this to be a mode. With a touch of balancing I see this mode being successful.

Whats the Weather system like? Like are there going to be storms? Will i have to fight off a boat full of christians in pitch black, when a crack of lightning lights up the blood and carnage? Or what about tornadoes, or just really windy days?

A dynamic weather system would be a very welcome addition to the game, especially if jt affects gameplay. Now that all maps are tailored for the game, it would be really cool to see, for example, some flooded areas during and after heavy rain, and maybe some drenched ground where horses refuse to gallop at full speed, adding some interesting tactical layers to battles.

Cool. Are you ready to wait Bannerlord for another 10 years?!)))

We should do the 10 year comparison for ourselves just like we did to Brogomir, Valtis and Alijin.

Just like "me when BL was announced and 10 years later, still waiting for the game"

On a more serious note:

Did anyone notice the characters' height change? In their first appearance they looked all about the same height, just like in Warband. Now Brogomir seems to be substantially taller than the other two. I think the body build and height is finally a thing in BL!

And finally on a nitpicky note:

Regarding the second screenshot, if you look at the left portion of the scene, it looks like the map ends right there and there's this Warbandey feeling of a finite scene that belongs in a void world. Now that scenes aren't procedurally generated anymore, it's possible to tailor skylines for each location based on the overworld map, including landmarks such as towns and castles at the distance, some mountains and bodies of water.
I think this won't be so labor intensive to do, because all you need to do is use the overworld map as a scale model and generate just one angle that looks good and makes sense in the location.

I would find amazing to be able to see the sea from far away when fighting on a plateau for example.
