Greetings everyone! To cut a long reply short, I have a question pertaining to the contest itself. Is there any limit placed on the scene's realism? Having seen the other submissions, I wonder how much of out-of-mind and gone-nuts ideas can be allowed into the project. For instance, would adding UFOs be deemed and considered an innovation? The screenshot was taken on my first map ever made:

You should keep in mind that it should be a castle in the end with proper siege scene and that you are only allowed to use Native scene props.

I'm told it was beautiful here once. Long ago this was an Imperial fort, watching the border with the Clans of Old Asserai. With the collapse of the Empire and the rise of our great Sultans that border vanished and my ancestors turned this place into their home; a garden villa overlooking a deep lake and lush farmland. Now it is claimed by the desert as one day all things will be, and yet it remains my home. I am honour-bound to defend it.

My grandfather built a mead hall here from which he launched raids further inland than any Nord before him. My father built the great keep and the palisade, and razed one of the greatest southern fortresses to the ground. I will build this into a castle the envy of any fat southern lord, and I will carve out a realm of my own. Even now they march on my hall and construction of the walls is yet incomplete, so steel and valour must be my walls for now. One day soon I may have children. I know not what their legacy will be, but I know tales of their deeds will be sung in halls for ages to come.

Inspired by the Dutch castle Muiderslot, I decided to make a castle with the purpose of regulating trade on the river in mind. Naturally, in return for keeping the rivers safe for trade, from river pirates and hostile factions, the castle lord was able to demand taxes from any boat passing by.

Castles were, of course, a place where nobility reside rather than just a military asset. As such, a castle garden cannot be excluded.

The once great fortress, now it is only pieces of walls and the old rickety tower, but it has an equally important place in the world. It was here that Hawk once settled with his brothers, whom a simple man would call a band of bandits, are actually a detachment in which the best fighters from all over Calradia and not only gathered. Everyone can boast of something. Each tribute brothers practice in possession of a sword and bow. Even the King of Vaegirs himself asked brothers for service, during the great war. Many years have passed since that time, but so far in the district and far away on the borders of the former empire, whether it be a tavern or hall of lords, people tell stories about the Hawks, warriors lost over the centuries...

This is completely optional and would appear on the Multiplayer showcase event with the community. If you don't have time/don't wish to do it it's fine. The scores and judging on your scenes will be done exclusively in Singleplayer as the contest rules state.

Bear in mind that in your Singleplayer scenes entry point 0 is for attackers, while 32 is unused. In Multiplayer, entry points 0-31 are for defenders, entry points 32-63 are for attackers with 66 being the flag. More on this here.

Contest Submission Period Finished

The contest submission period has finished a few hours ago. No submissions or edits are allowed anymore. With that, we have concluded that part of the contest.

The judges will now test the whooping 35 submissions made for the contest. Please understand that it will take longer this time around for the results to be published given the number of submissions. We don't want to rush or pressure the judges.

I've tested 3 of these maps on multiplayer with 60-70 players:
- Six Traitor Castle by Iceqatius: with some edits is a balanced and well made map.
- Muidestein by Arch3r: the map is very small at the point that some walls are on map invisible border and leaves few space to make the siege tower work well. The side door allows the players enter in the castle very quickly making the front gate useless.
- Tower of Eternity by Akathir: players liked its design and with a night weather it has a nice fantasy atmosphere. The single path way and long run to reach the tower makes it a bit boring.

All 3 maps didn't cause noticeable fps drops.
 
Claremont was a MP siege, so it should be somewhat balanced in MP, though IIRC it's a little too defender stacked the way we had it set up for the CC. With tweaks it could be quite balanced though. I'll probably make a version compatible with GK module at some point.

Northmarch Keep is made for single player, I don't know how well it'll run on servers anyway. I think it'd need quite a bit of work to make solid for MP but I will probably get around to converting it for a future CC at some point.
