Does this just mean that an individual can only win once? Or is there some advantage for submitting first?

Yes and yes :wink: Maximum unmodded battle size (150) is ~75 per side in an even battle. We will test with the native siege mission template, so reinforcements will happen.

There's certainly some grey area. This is why we made this rule
The scene should still feature the whole castle, so not just a small section of the walls.
in order to rule out "city siege" scenes like in native. It's still possible to make a huge castle/city if it fits in the scene and anybody would want to undergo that effort.

This means that if you submit multiple works only your best rated is taken into account when distributing the rewards. In short, you can’t win 2 or all 3 prizes, just one.
There is no advantage to submitting first.
 
People creating accounts just to participate in the contest, haha awesome! Seems those rewards really got it going.

hm how do we test the map? :p do we just spawn in 150 bots or do we have to replace some singleplayer castle or..
never realy done anything with bots i only made MP maps
 
Here's what I put together the past couple days. Pretty much non-stop AI meshing yesterday. Too finicky for my first time ;_;
But since the main keep is complete, i'm posting. Beware floating objects~
Due to the single player nature of this scene, i'm trying to keep it.... less vertical and tunnel-y than i typically would.

FINNICKYYYYY. But i've tested with 150 bots and i can generally manage to get them where i want them to go within the castle.

If spawning in 150 bots works then I guess that´s the way for you to test it! The siege has to be fluent for the AI in terms of moving around. If you can't test that properly with just spawning in 150 bots then I guess there's another option left..

Only one way to find out..  :wink:

Since you will also want to test your spawn point placements and reinforcements, it's probably best to test your castle in SP, too. Best way to do so (without coding) is wait for a siege to happen (or force one with cheats) and replace the respective castle scene with yours.

yep I think this is how I'm going to do it. Just make a new game, replace a native castle scene with mine, and cheat myself an army to lay siege.

Easier to just use the custom battle siege. It's called quick battle 4 or 5.

Btw when checking the visual stuff, do you walk around the whole map looking at every detail or do you just follow the "main" path? if thats the case then there is not much point detailing the entire map  :razz:
 
I get more and more excited for the contest every time someone submits a WIP screenshot. Stuff's looking really good!

I think we'll definitely work to organise a more expansive and public fun/playtest session of the submissions to promote your awesome work.

Just for clarification, the scene will be tested with the battle size setting on 150. It will start with 75-75 after which reinforcements will still come in on both sides.

So the total sizes of the armies won't be 75 and 75 but rather a larger number that will enable both sides to receive waves of reinforcements.
