Thoughts on... The Warband Native League Featuring Danate |
Q | Obviously, playing in an European tournament as a team from North America is never easy due to the ping and the timezone difference. Regardless, you have started out strong in the WNL8. What is your goal for the tournament and how do you rate your chances against your opponents Doner this week?
A | Yeah the ping differential is very difficult to adjust to, but a lot of us have competed in EU tournaments before and we have worked together well as a team to help the others struggling with the ping being high. Our goal for this tournament overall is to get 1st place in whatever division we are finalized in; We are stretching for Division B. Doner seems to have plenty of veterans and newer players to the scene alike. I believe our chances against Doner will be as good as anyone competing, we have a lot of talented, decorated players from NA and were here to give teams a run for their money.
Q | Since we have a lot of new players and teams in this tournament, who might not be as familiar with you as the EU veterans, would you mind telling us a little about the history of your team and the players in it. How did your team come together, and what is your background?
A | There are so many teams that i'm not familiar with being in the scene for years, This tournament has definitely brought my attention the livelihood of EU and Warband as a whole. People still want to compete and play the game we all love. LeBrontourage is a team of North America and Jarvis. Aporta and people such as myself still want to compete in high level tournaments because they are intense, enjoyable etc. So Aporta grabbed some of the best of NA that still plays to compete in the most prestigious tournament in Warband History.
Q | In Europe we have had a pretty lengthy debate over our tournament formats, especially regarding match size. NA has, for most if its history, played 7v7. How does it compare to 6v6 and 8v8, and which format do you personally enjoy the most and why?
A | 7v7 format is I believe a very good balance to the scrim battle system the vets implemented years ago. I feel that with 6v6 there is not as much strategy as there is good execution and individual skill, where 8v8 requires individual skill less but strategy more. I always enjoyed 7v7 a lot because it is right in the middle.
Q | How is the North American scene doing in general? We barely get to see you on the forums, do you keep in touch elsewhere? Do you think matchmaking, who have announced they plan on opening a couple of servers for NA, might spark some interesst again in NA?
A | North American competitive scene is at its lowest moment as of right now. One thing that does keep NA events moving is Rat Parties (Pickup Scrims) hosted by Roberta Baratheon. I believe that matchmaking might spark some interest in NA for a time, I would just like to see it thrive as EU matchmaking has done in the past months. |
