This will be the place for the administration to make announcements regarding the WNL.
 
Sign Up Deadline

The deadline for sign ups is Sunday, 24. February 2019 at midnight. Week 1 starts on Monday, 25. February 2019.

The deadline for sign ups has been pushed back by a week, read more here.
 
Server Donators

A big thank you (once again) to LordMetzger for providing us with 10 German servers and Cheshire Cats Clan for providing us with 3 French servers!
 
Sign Up Deadline

We've had a few requests from people setting up new teams for an extension on the signup period. We've agreed in order to give them a little longer and ensure as many can participate as possible. Therefore we have moved the deadline for sign ups forward a week.

The deadline for sign ups is Sunday, 3rd of March 2019 at midnight. Week 1 starts on Monday, 4th of March 2019.
 
Map Pool & Captain Map Vote

The map pool for this tournament has been finalised and posted here. Team captains will decide on the fifth map for each map category in a vote, the deadline for casting your teams vote is Sunday, 03.03.19. All relevant information for the captain map vote can be found here.
 
Stat Changes

The tournament administration has agreed upon the following stat changes for this tournament. Warband Matchmaking will implement these exact stat changes as well.

Nords
Cavalry +1 shield skill (2)
Cavalry -2 Power Throw (1)
Infantry -1 power strike (4)
Infantry -1 power throw (3)
1 For better protection against rangers.
2 Nerf to javelins.
3 Nerf to overwhelming strength of Nord infantry.
4 Nerf to javelins.

Rhodoks
Infantry +1 shield skill (6)
Cavalry +1 riding skill (5)
1 Buff in order to preserve the strength of Rhodok infantry compared to other factions that almost all received shield skill buffs.
2 Buff to Rhodok cavalry to make them more competitive.

Sarranids
Cavalry +1 power strike (3)
Cavalry +2 athletics (2)
Infantry +2 shield skill (4)
Archer +1 power strike (1)
1 Small buff for melee fights.
2 In order to make dismounted movement less clunky.
3 Shield skill buff against footshots.
4 Small buff for melee fights.

Swadia
Crossbow +1 power strike to (3)
1 Small buff for melee fights.

Vaegirs
Archer -1 power draw (6)
Archer +1 power strike (1)
Infantry +2 shield skill (4)

Sign Ups

We're in the process of going through all the teams that have applied applied in the signup thread. We now need to ensure that we are only accepting teams two at a time to ensure we have an even number of teams participating. Teams which haven't finished their rosters will be put onto a waiting list and reminded to finish their rosters. As always we expect a few teams to dropout over the course of the tournament so even if your roster isn't finished or you haven't applied to join in time, there will likely be space to join the tournament over the next few weeks.
 
Divisions

The divisions have been announced. Where possible we tried to put teams in the division they requested. However we were not able to fulfil all the requested divisions for all teams. Every team will have the opportunity to prove what division they belong in and gain promotion during the Mid Season Promos.
 
Drop Out

The Dauntless Bunch have dropped out of the tournament. Fallen Pride will take their spot in Division B and play against Black Eagles this weekend. Both teams have been informed, all relevant threads will be updated accordingly.

Because Fallen Pride will now play in Division B, there is one free spot in Division C. Any teams that wishes to join, now is your time. If you want to join and play your first match this weekend, please contact the tournament administration as soon as possible. We encourage everyone to spread the word and encourage teams to sign up.

Week 2 Maps & Factions Announced

Week 2's maps and factions can be seen in each division's thread. We will get the maps and factions for the rest of the tournament announced within the next few days.
 
Buchholz Score

The underlying principle of our tournament is that every team tries to be at the top of the table. In order to do that, every team tries to get the highest scores in each sorting category, for this tournament they are firstly points, secondly Buchholz-Score, thirdly round difference. Summed up as principles:

I. Every team tries to win as many matches as possible to gain more points.
II. Every team hopes their previous opponents win as many matches as possible to gain more Buchholz-Score.
III. Every team tries to win as many rounds as possible to achieve a better round difference.

Normally every team can follow these three principles behind climbing the ladder without a conflict of interessts. However, when rematches happen, these principles are opposed to each other.

Example
Week 1: AE vs. FT, FT win.
Week 2: AE vs. IG, FT vs. BE
Week 3: AE vs. FT

From FT's perspective it is impossible for them to win both points and Buchholz-Score in week 3. They theoretically have to choose between winning the match and thus gaining points (Principle I) or hoping AE win against them and thus gaining Buchholz-Score (Principle II). Because, let's remember, the Buchholz-Score in its current form is the sum of points of all previous opponents. That's unfair on FT, of course, because no matter what happens, they don't have the same chances to score well in all sorting categories as a team who doesn't have to play in a rematch.

Therefore, the possibility for rematches has been completely removed. The changes have been put into effect for Week 3, we want to apologise for recognising this mistake so late, and thank all the teams concerned for their understanding.

Sorry, Rematches!

When I made the decision last week to abort rematches, I ****ed up. Let me explain, please. The way the tournament has played out so far in Division A is as follows:

As you can see, Division A is bascially split in half. Every team in each half has played all the teams of the other half. So the next match for every team would have to be against a team from the same half.

Example
Knights of Malta vs. House of Tully/ToiBois
House of Tully vs. Knights of Malta/ToiBois
ToiBois vs. House of Tully/Knights of Malta

Obviously this is impossible, as 3 teams cannot be split into two matches of two, or in other words, 3 cannot be divided by 2. Therefore, we will have to abandon the rule change regarding rematches from last week. I'm terribly sorry I did not consider that the way the tournament had played out in the previous weeks in terms of matchups would make it mathematically impossible to not have rematches. We are going back to the old ladder rules.
