first of all i finded another topic about it, but it was old, so i do not think i am getting an answer there. the ploblem is this: in the campaign, when i have to go find atli erickson in the cave, i kill everyone in there, but i can not kill atli. i can not talk to him either, so i got stuck in this mission. it happened twice. i started a new game but the same thing happened. in the older topic i read that someone needs to check the rgl_log and rgl_config files so ill post them under this. thanks.

I later discovered the source of the bug while working with a player, and posted how to solve it (together with a request for someone who has experienced it to make an official bug report):

Since athletics skill determines "sneaking" ability in Viking Conquest, he tried reducing his athletics temporailly using import/export, so more enemies would be quickly alerted to his presence.

This solved the issue, and some hidden enemies came rushing out at him when he tried the mission again, and the quest was completed as normal.

A player who runs into the issue should consider following Kalarhan's advice above and officially reporting it with a saved game in support forum, so it can potentially be fixed in an update. The Steam User I linked can not officially report it as he states he is using VC Balance Mod 4.1, and testing with a vanilla installation is required to report bugs.

But for a personal workaround, you should be able to also solve the issue for yourself and continue playing by using import/export and trying the mission with lower athletics skill.

VC Balance Mod 5.0 or later fixes the bug by capping sneaking skill for the mission, but it is is simple enough for a player to use import/export to workaround for vanilla VC.
