Too little, and players fail to grasp a game mechanic or are forced into making uninformed decisions. Too much, and the information becomes overbearing or confusing. And it isn’t just the volume of information that needs to be taken into consideration. A good user interface (UI) should convey information to players quickly and clearly. It should be as non-invasive as possible, so that it doesn't get in the way of immersion, while still containing all of the information that the player needs, in a way that is functional, yet aesthetically pleasing. It has to be almost transparent, helping you in the experience without reminding you constantly that you are playing a game.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/79

This was actually for some reason a really interesting dev blog that gave us lots of info and a current stage of the game.
Though I hope they learn their lessons and won't push social justice though I highly doubt that after the Rome 2 controversy.

Cool, more UI and more info.
Looking more like Clan Leaders are the only ones that own Land, with the rest of the Clan just being parties that follow the Leader's orders. That's a very neat feature - more political layers.

I have a concern, though, with the images presented: the "Wireframe"/placeholder image conveys the "Fiefs Owned" info far better than the current one. The "stacked cards" on the current one requires me to do two things
1) Identify what each card represents, which is made harder by the fact the non-top cards are 80% obscured and they're all sort of "foggy structures."
2) Count each of the cards
What it does better is it quickly "summarizes" how many more "lands" a Clan owns versus the other Clans (compare width!) but owning 2 Towns is presumably much better than owning 1 castle and 4 villages, so that info is only part of the question, and IMO worth less than easy display of individual Fief-types owned.

Strongly reconsider changing the "Fiefs Owned" column to be more like how it was in the Placeholder, with the cards presented by each other with the numbers at the bottom right of them. You don't need columns for each Town/Village/Castle, I think.

Something roughly like this, on the top line.

Although I'd order it to be Town/Castle/Village, rather than what I suspect I have at Castle/Village/Town (Although determining Village vs Town is hard - maybe Village should have a field of some kind?)The purple on top is also a bit hard to read and looks bad. It could just as easily be below the pictures, or something.

The point is, please put a number, not a stack of cards we have to identify and count.
Edit: Oh, and the same thing applies to the Members of a Clan - spread their "cards" out, so they're all fully visible at the same time. I assume right now I have to scroll my mouse over each Card to see what Lord it actually belongs to, then click it. Not at all acceptable, IMO.

For example, our current placeholder loading screen animation a butter jar moving across the screen, and our default save/load character image is Yaga.

One of the reasons I love TW, they follow the community and enjoy the memes that are made about them !

For those who didnt understand butter became a meme in M&B communtity because of King Harlaus and his obsession with feasts even during war times.
And Yaga is a forum user who is known for his obsession towards trees. He used to be more active but he still comes by at times.

Огромная просьба, пожалуйста добавьте политическую мини карту. Что то на подобии политической карты в правом нижнем углу от стратегий Total War!

I was thinking the same thing. I really hope this isn't the final iteration of this menu and that they change it before release.

Otherwise it looks great. The lack of management menus like this is one of my biggest gripes with Warband and I'm happy to see that they're improving this aspect.

if they make a animation when mouse position above the icons to this, that's will be awesome.

Hey taleworld Guys ?
Do You have a quest writer in your team? We could learn something about his/her work

You should check out the archived blogs on TW's site, they released a blog where they talked with the quest writer.

Awesome blog.

HOW MODDABLE WILL THE UI BE?
“Making the UI as moddable as possible is important to both us and to our community. Some of the great mods for Warband had to limit their efforts because they couldn’t alter the UI as their needs demanded it. This is something we took into consideration when making the decision to create our own UI framework (Gauntlet). Thanks to Gauntlet modders can modify the screen layout itself just with a simple text editor. All of the user interface we showed you in Gamescom was made with Gauntlet and a simple text editor. Modders will have access to these files and have total control of the screen layout itself.”

Thanks, Emre, for such a clear answer. Your example text for input into Gauntlet looks much friendlier than Warband’s presentations.

Interesting screens. I’m fascinated by the Expell 30i button. Can it only cost thirty influence points to expell a clan from its faction or is it just being expelled from an army?

Hopefully your playerland symbol is another joke. I’d not have a sheep as my clan emblem - other faction members will question my courage.

Wrong place dude this is Taleworlds forums not Total War forums.

Total War is developed by a different company Creative Assembly.

Taleworlds is the developer of Mount and Blade games.

Rome 2 was a Total war game.

I think that game menus are like modern business reports. They should show general state of things but with option to go to details for curious people. This could add another playstyle to the game just like in middle ages. Some people paid attention to economy details rather then warfare or other things and some just didn't gave a shot about it leaving it to their men.
I like when game UI is simple but with this option to go deeper if I want to.

P.S.
As a person that creates business intelligence reports I really know that combining simply general information that is understood by anyone and explains really complex situations can be combined with detailed view of specified situation that is understood only by experts in the field.

Very interesting blog with some juicy new information! (for the first time in ages lol)

How much polishing needs done before Beta/Early Access? Because we are not expecting a perfect game if it has Early Access on the label

Policies is an intriguing tab. I’d love to know more. It’s placement suggests each clan has its own policies. Hopefully, we can’t just look up their deepest and darkest secrets on screen, so presumably its for setting our policy towards that particular clan maybe?

Callum how about that clan blog you promised with a picture of the clan policies screen?
