Team Showcases (3/5)

BladeCastTV is proud to present the BladeCast Masters, our debut into tournament hosting for Mount & Blade: Warband! This may be BladeCastTV's first tournament as a team, but many of our staff members are experienced tourney admins with multiple tournaments under their belts. With our combined knowledge and expertise, and the support of our gracious sponsors, our mission is to provide the best tournament experience to you, the Mount & Blade: Warband community. Without you, this event wouldn't be possible! We want to take a moment to shine the spotlight on the teams that will be fighting it out for their chance at glory.

The tournament will be divided in two phases, starting with the qualifiers. Four top teams will fight their way to the second and more prestigious stage, the Main Event, where they will then face off against the four invited elite teams. These four teams, Frontline Tactics, KROWA, Unity and Aequalitas have already received detailed previews which you can check here. In this article, we'll be focusing on the twenty teams which have already started battling head to head in the qualifiers. Each article will focus on one team from each group, presenting them in detail and covering their current progress within the tournament.

Team Summary

Created by Sombie for the BladeCast Masters, Lost in Lidl was born after a disappointing run Sombie had leading another team of his in the Warband Summer Cup 2, Principality of Leeds. Despite gathering a roster with high potential, they couldn’t make it through the Pre-Quarter Finals stage losing heavily against Wonwokie. After the departure of many of their exceedingly high-skilled players, Lost in Lidl was built for the BCM around a friendlier and more relaxed atmosphere and was more of a way for long-time friends to enjoy the tournament experience together; going back to the basics of what Sombie’s teams are usually known for. Centred around a core of experienced native players, the team also had to welcome in some new faces to fill-in the gaps such as Rangah and Aristotel. Their ranger department was based on king_of_archers and Sombie. Aiku (Demon), Bradley and Zazu were the team’s main infantries, supported by the two new additions, Rangah and Aristotel. As for their cavalries, Lost in Lidl could count on Duck, Hagrid and Zipp0 with either Sombie or Aristotel stepping in as a fourth if required.
Unfortunately, the team had to concede three default wins out of their four matches and the only one they got to play was a rather one-sided loss against Rising Rivals which probably won’t be the most satisfying result for Sombie and his boys. However, even in the face of defeat Lost in Lidl did not give in. They continued fighting to the best of their ability and managed the secure themselves the last set with a 3-2 score.

Team Summary

After Napoleonic Native Noobs won the Minor League Warband, it opened a window of opportunity for people from the Napoleonic War community (and others) to show that not only could they have a strong interest for the Native scene but that they could also compete in it. After that tournament and despite their impressive performance, Hursty decided to remove a majority of the inactive NW players and reform as Fallen Pride which now has currently only one player from the original NNN line-up; that being Hursty himself. The original idea of Fallen Pride’s creation was to make a fun team and enjoy competing in tournaments from time to time but after a while the team, who was also present on other modules, went fully on Native and have put a lot of work into trying to practice and improve as a group since then. Placed among group II of Red Division, not many carried high hopes for Fallen Pride as they couldn’t do much against the powerful squad of Inversed Brains. The team however, showed a completely different face in their match against Polish Eagles, as they took team the group’s favourite in a convincing fashion. With such a result, everything remains open for Fallen Pride in their group even though Inversed Brains currently is in the most favourable position to qualify for the Main Event. Nevertheless, Hursty and his squad have already proven that they have the potential to make a lot of noise on the Native scene ; and as one of their most important objectives at the beginning of the tournament was to solidify their current roster for future tournament, it is to be expected to see them again pretty soon. For now, their next match against The Flaming Fist tonight will be another interesting challenge to take on for them and promise to be as exciting as possible.

Team Summary

The team lead by Gazelle is the second iteration of the Senate as the team already competed in the first edition of the Rookie Team Competitions, with most of its members going dormant however once the competition was finished. As they gathered to take another swing at competitive native, it seemed only logical for them to fly the Sheev banner once more. The team started out as just friends who knew each other but with connections, they quickly managed to regroup a wild range of European nationalities such as Romanian, French, Spanish, or Turkish. The motivation behind The Senate is mainly preparing for Bannerlord however they also aim to make their banner a household place in the warband community. They have a few players who already have a solid experience with competitive native and their new additions seem to fit just right with the team atmosphere. Gazelle, Fietta, Piotes, JackJony and Vince form a rather solid infantry team while Snacc and Sparkie will be Senate’s main shooters. Last but not least, Flav, Angola, FranzJoseph form their cavalry core.
Their only match against Highest Virtue was a one-sided loss but such result was to be expected and they still have a few matches to show what the team is up to, against more accessible opponents such as Fallen Pride 2 or Blackkingdoms. Regardless of their result in that tournament, Senate is a team with a lot of positive atmosphere surrounding them and definitely worth noting for the future as they intend to stick within the scene on a long-term basis.

Team Summary

Another group of friends participating in the BladeCast Masters is The Cacahuète  Brotherhood. Lead by The Cardboard Box, the team is a gathering of Call to Arms players who after partaking in mostly casual M&B events, have decided to try themselves with the competitive scene of Native. Their players all come from different horizons and play different modules on top of native and it is worth noting they were present at the first edition of the Javby 7 League where they achieved a deserved second place ranking. The Cacahuète  Brotherhood made its real first steps into the competitive scene by competing in the Warband Summer Cup 2 where they finished last of their group.
Some of their players are more experienced than others but all things considered, The Cacahuète  Brotherhood is a relatively new squad within the scene which certainly places friendly and fun atmosphere above results. Nevertheless, they came in the BladeCast Masters with the intention to give their best effort. So far, they didn’t manage to pick up a win but their match against Polska Sila and Friendship Ends Gardaşlık Never were rather close, showing the team may have been making a certain progress since their WSC2 adventure where they struggled to pick-up rounds. Their remaining match against Back 2 Main Menu is undoubtedly a good occasion to get their first tournament victory and end the competition on a rather positive note.
