INTRODUCTION

Welcome fellow bladers to yet another Warband Summer Cup. With this second season we would like to continuate and progress with the classic 8v8 format and start the Summer with a major tournament with prizepool!
We will be using last year's format, starting with a group stage, where top 2 of each group will advance into a Knockout Stage. As is per usual, teams will be playing 1 match each week, and there will not be any breaks throughout the tournament, so build your teams accordingly! There will not be limitations team-wise for the signups, however, if a huge amount of team signups happen in a short amount of time, we will consider closing (or adding) the spots for teams into the cup, regardless of the situation we will communicate ANY changes to the format or signups with at least 3 days so that everyone has time to adapt, but the faster you sign up, the better!
We expect to have at least 16 to 20 signed teams so its likely to close ALL signups around that sweetspot.

Like last year, this tournament wouldn't be possible without the amazing help and support of the community, to all those who support this tournament in any kind of way, specially those who make this possible allowing the tournament to play on their servers, all who are gonna stream and cover the tournament and all those who will or have already donated and contributed to the prize pool, a big, big, thank you. Special thanks to Rosslington for yet again creating sick artwork and media for the tournament! Also big thanks to Kane for his amazing hype video of the tournament!

As is tradition with the WSC, we have implemented a community funding system for the prizepool, that means anyone can contribute to this year's pool by contacting the admins listed below.

Sad to see this format back, last edition barely had any (1, if i'm not mistaken) competitive matches.
Again, is there a point for lower lvl teams to sign up, get rekt in 2 matches and happily wait half a year for the next tournament?

We will be using last year's format
Does it mean 3 maps are back?

But good luck with running it. It's heartbreaking to see Warband almost dead, maybe WSC can bring some life to it.

Last WSC, we had a group stage seeded where lower seeded teams had the chance to earn a spot in a knockout stage, scrimming or setting in effort to beat a 'stronger' team in paper, like it has to happen in every competition if they wanna play all the matches. The only difference with a ladder stage, is that our tournament is shorter, so teams that get eliminated "early", get to play 3-4 matches instead of 6-7. The tournament takes less time to be hosted, there were lot of interesting competitive matches with the teams that earned their respective spots at the knockout stage and the teams that were eliminated were granted the chance to keep playing through WSC B, which was like a knockout stage for the teams that fell during group stage compensating that 'lack' of matches that you're speaking about. I don't mind criticism but at least check how we ran it last year, lot of these teams you described requested WSC B to happen as they enjoyed the first stage of the tournament and wanted to keep playing it even after being eliminated.

-Ruleset is yet to be developed, but the format's gonna be the same, and initially we plan on doing the same final/bronze match 3-maps show.

Ops, my fault, I thought u had 4 teams group with elimination after 2 loses. Then yes, sorry, most teams played 4 matches, which is more or less fine.
Considering WSC B: u started it only after the Grand Final. I don't know how teams, that participated there, felt, but noone else was interested in it. Ofc it takes time, but maybe consider running it right after group stage?

About interesting competitive matches - here you have to believe me; since I didn't play in WSC, I probably watched every stream there was, and I for sure remember spamming a lot about one-sided matches during group stage. Then I was said to wait for knockouts, **** would get intense there. But no, it unfortunately didn't.

And what's going on with all admins beeing from 1 team?

Volshen said:

Yeah, initially it wasn't in our plans to host WSC B, but as I said we got lot of requests about it once knockout stage was over, and it was already late for us to start it at that point so it was delayed until the tournament ended. This time we didn't decide over it yet, the admin team will discuss about it when the tournament gets closer to the start, but if it happens, it will be at the same time than main WSC knockout stage.

Well, that can happen it's part of the game, I remember 1 sided results between teams that were supposed to be balanced, and other match ups that were really interesting to watch, even if results may end 1 sided due the way the game is, you can't really predict that match ups that happened such as Castellan-FT or AE-Unity could end in 1 sided results. We can't do anything about that, match ups happen, and even if they look balanced one team plays super well another has a bad day and you have a huge gap of score in between them. That's  out of our hands, we invest the best we can over interesting matches with seeding + group stage.

Same as last time, we are confident in our work as it worked pretty well last time despite the doubts. We'll have again external staff which will specially take decisions when us can be involved or affected by them.
