The administration team (Rey) decided the match would be played with the Home/Away system as it is stated in the rules. Upon hearing this Turkey refused to play today and wanted to reschedule. We are only playing for fun and did not want to go through the effort of waiting till next week to have to play two matches so like every other NC we agreed to play Turkey on a server that only helps them. Turkey continues to win in typical sketchy fashion against teams that don't even care they are playing. Big win.

Timeline
Earlier In The Week: We are told we have to play Turkey in a German server because no Turkish or American servers exist by the Turkish captain.
18:10 Today: Rey has both teams check servers for ping. (We try NL, DE, FR, CH) Turkey already begins showing they are upset with ping numbers.
18:30 Today: After discussion Rey concludes that the match will be played Home/Away with Chicago and Germany. Turkey agrees.
19:25 Today: Five minutes before the match Turkey tells admin team they will not honor the scheduled match time, forcing us to just agree to play them only in Europe.

In the end we showed up to play and were ready to play on the servers that the administration team had picked for the match. Turkey showed up and refused to do so. Apparently all you have to do in NC is threaten the administration team and it does not matter if you inconvenience the other team. If a team refuses to play at their scheduled time it is a forfeit. You cannot cancel a match five minutes ahead of time.

I think this is what American people think about, when they talk of a home-away system.

We are 7,000km from the server you are 3,000km. I can't believe you just tried to use distance as an argument for this situation.

We were going into today expecting to play on Chicago and Turkey. We were unaware that there are no Turkish servers. You complain about having to play from Turkey to Germany but for Americans living in the Southern part of American it is actually farther to Chicago for us than it is for you to Germany. So being from Turkey and playing in Germany is the exact same as being from more distant parts of America and playing in Chicago. Except we agreed to play and you refused.

We could have done Home-Away on TR and NA, then we would have had the same distance, and had you waited for an additional 15 more minutes, we were going to do that.
Also, we learnt about the rule-change on home-away system -in other words when we discussed on steam about arranging a server, we believed we would play on an EU server of your choosing- in the last possible moment.

We were informed by Rey that you were rescheduling the match which is the only reason we agreed to play on France because a reschedule would have been impossible for us. Also again clarifying you have the same ping in Germany as we do in America.

Firstly, get the servers in both regions, and after that offer the "Home-Away system". Or just find a Spanish server.
We need servers in New York, İstanbul, Moscow. As for me, I would up the Moscow's server for the match for my team, if it could be necessary.
I also can up the server in Ekaterinburg, where we all will have 0-30 ping, and Europeans 120+ and Americans 200+, that will be really unfair.

Oh will you look at that... I'm STILL further away... let's not begin the 'extremes' argument.

If you were looking for the fairest match-up on a single server, you should have tried to set up a UK server. USA pings would have been around the same and Turkish pings would (I believe) have been a little bit higher (but still lower than USA pings) to even it up as much as possible. (I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's how that would work out.) Or Turkey could just respect the fact that they are supposed to play with the home-away system outlined by Rey.

Preferably though, the administration should manually change some teams around so that the teams furthest away from each other don't end up in the same initial groups. Let the teams at least start the tournament off with somewhat legitimate matches. Hopefully that way, one of the teams gets eliminated before they even have to face each other in the tournament, and if somehow both teams meet at a latter stage in the tournament, at least they had a more decent path leading to that inevitable moment.

Personally I think this USA team is really bad and doesn't have a chance of winning anything, but at least TRY to set up some fair matches for them  Why even let them sign up if you're just going to screw them in a "nations" cup with horrible match-ups?

NC2017 - Team NA gets a fair way into the tournament because they don't get insta-screwed by an impractical match-up.
NC2016 - Team NA in a group-stage with Turkey
NC2015 - Team NA has it's first knockout stage match against Turkey, lose the same way because the whole match was also played on an EU server.
NC2014 - Team Canada in a group-stage with Russia
NC2013 - Team Canada in a group-stage with Russia

I feel like you could take 5 seconds to look at the groups you've randomized and say... "maybe some of these matches aren't practical, we can make some minor tweaks to make it better for the participants"

Just something to consider now or in the future for NC 2019 whether it be here or in Bannerlord.
