Forcing the player to make conscious choices based on this creates an additional layer in the strategy aspect of the campaign and adds overall depth to the roleplay element of our games. Discerning between those who will offer support in times of need and those who are likely to cause issues is a relatively subtle part of our games, but those who pay close attention to their relationships and plan accordingly will often have an easier time when plotting their rise to power.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/43

To be honest, this blog was meh. Something I really didn't care about.. I'd rather see diplomacy improvements, kingdom management improvements, etc...

Since they didn't tell us what this blog was going to be about, maybe they wanted to show us something else, but they ended up with this.
In fact it's quite strange that it took so much time to write this and just show two gifs. But it's just speculation.

In next week’s blog we will be speaking with Graphic Artist, Özgür Saral. Özgür is the lead of our art team and oversees all of the visual aspects of the game.
I think we can expect more visual art/scenes/3d objects etc in next blog

It isn’t anything too fancy, and it doesn’t include any lip syncing or voice acting, however, we feel that it helps to make the world feel more alive.
Can we assume there will not be voice acting for certain (or all?) characters? We saw that main character has voice in battles to scream orders, and i assume that voice changes when we pick different choice in character creation screen.

But i hope at least some kings/ladies/lords to have voice acting, at some point, for certain phrases. Guards could also salute us as "My lord!" and get in ready formation when we enter room.

I got excited last week when we got told about a single player blog as I thought we'd get some decent info. The animations are interesting and all, but not really blog hype material
Well... they didnt lie, it certainly was singleplayer. I kinda wish they would either just be transparent or nothing at all. I know that sounds stupid, because thats what they did when they were silent and everyone hated it but look at this now. The community is just as frustrated as then, if not more. Every week we expect them to talk about something we care about, and then we get Yaga's jolly face smiling.

Theyre probably just stalling so they can talk about the exciting stuff closer to release.

nah, not really.
This was one of the worse blogs (imo and others), but better than nothing. Also, im sure well be getting something a little bit better next time

I have a question for next week's interview with Graphic Artist, Özgür Saral.

If the art team is currently busy working on fluffing out the game with inconsequential conversational animations for the NPCs, does this mean that the more important art-based stuff in the game is all finished?

I don't really understand the outrage. This is a weekly thing, it was bound to be about random crap every now and then. TaleWorlds used this blog to send a wink to the forum's community and I got some confirmation (for better or worse) on relations stuff that was brought up when we were discussing influence not so long ago.

Those are not devblogs of old, which would be serious bull**** if they'd be so cheap with info after few months of waiting. But that weekly thing is just some random talk with the devs.

It is relevant to diplomacy, in that discussions will feel more alive and real with these animated characters displaying their moods, and also it explained that the different personalities of lords will affect how they react to your actions. Rembering individual lords and their disposition to you in past conversations will probably be easier with this new format (as opposed to talking to the head and shoulders of a lord and him not visibly reacting no matter what course the conversation takes. In Warband, I rarely managed to remember what previous dealings I had had with which lord, and with who I might be on bad terms with).

It was a short blog compared to most recent ones but I do like the way the NPC and his retinue are displayed, it feels more alive.

Actually I quite liked the fact we will be able to edit the animations. It is amazing so much effort is being put into making it possible to customize pretty much everything, thank you for that.

But...I found the animation just too dumb and dramatic. Be like a toddler who's got/didn't get his Christmas pressies.

These animations should be way more subtle to look credible, imho.

Oblivion had those weird animations

I think it is a bit weird, people don't just let the emotion on their faces like that. But maybe they never invented poker on Calradia.

It is a nice little addition as long it doesn't get too exagerated.

I like the subject of the blog, but why couldn't we have been given more gifs or at least a video of a whole conversation. Where. Is. The. Substance?

Apart from the lack of satisfying visual examples the topic is hardly important enough to be a devblog.

I didnt even read the devblog.
I just looked at the topic and saw the gifs and while reading the comments here I learnt that we can edit them thats it.
By the way we were already informed about the facial expressions so only consider the body part of the animations as news.

Hate to say this but TW is just basically stalling us with empty stuff so they actually have no difference than the previous TW which gave some nice info once a 6 months.

Yeah...it's a nice thing to add, but it's so difficult to make it look natural. I reckon I'm a bit finicky with this stuff, so I'd even prefer to switch it off if it's bad.Same for the voice acting...unless it's really good, like good ol' Jagged Alliance.

Just think we don't need them to waste more time polishing it any further,I bet the community will come up with alternatives.

Actually felt pretty patronizing like "lets tell them that characters smile when something good happens!"... There is definitely some stalling going on here like trying to stretch out a presentation to make it meet the time requirement.
Get to the good stuff please? Like the stuff that is asked about over and over in the forums?

Yes. Thank you im not the only one. It's one thing to want to be more transparent with the community, its another thing just to want to stop everyone from complaining.

I see, in the Gif, there are 2 male and 2 female soldiers. The 2 females don't have on ridiculous bikini armor and I like that. Also, I'm curious if the characters in the background are companions of Yaga or if they are regular soldiers.
