Please note:

Table not fully up to date yet with rounds as a few matches needing confirmed/couple of outstanding issues. Wins and losses though are known and only 2 cases involved round difference, Mob vs DoF (who play each other anyway) and the positioning of Battle Brothers and Bad Name Studios, where I couldn't remember if we give default wins 12 rounds or not (help Scar!) but the difference between these two means it doesn't make a difference.

Note also at the top of the league, ** originally would have played GWB and GP would have played FT. However since we don't allow rematches 2 weeks in a row, ** matching vs GWB would have created an error, so they were matched with their closest opponent GP, leaving GWB and FT to fight at the top of the league. Hope that's clear!

Alright, I've never complained about the system, but this is dumb as rock.

It's 6th week and seems like 3 of our matches will be against one team. It kills the balance completely. I guess the rules didn't pass their exam.

Not a fan of playing the same team twice either. Would've liked another team in the top side for balance, and proof of skill.

I guess we hit a worst case scenario, in some sense.

Alright, I am joining the “Complain” team. I don’t feel like playing Unity 3 times out of 6 matches is fair or even balanced.

Biased  :fruity:

It clearly shows how bad this format can be if “allowed”.

So. AE lose very early on in the tournament, this means we have a much larger climb to make against the bad teams to get back up to the top, once we're up there we'll be fighting all the hard teams the same as everyone else. The fact reunited and unity are playing again just shows they're both on the same high skill level.

So shut the **** up and accept this gracious praise the tournament is showing  the community. Or we can request the admins to make you play **** teams for the rest of the tournament ../.

lol mitchell go ez

The rules were up and you all had your chance to comment and suggest, this is what we're using for fixtures currently. The only bias would be to change them now. I agree the number of rematches is unfortunate but it's actually relatively unlikely, just shows how many teams are on a similar level.

As for accusations of bias I'm not sure what you mean since it follows a set system laid out in the rules. Unless you mean I wrote the rules purposefully so it would be exactly like this, in which case yes, I did, and yes, I'm a genius.

I mean, it's impossible to please everybody so, what's done, is done, it's too late to change anything and if admins had decided to use the pool system, some people who would have ended up against stronger teams than others would have complained too, if people want to complain they'll find a way to. But you have to understand the people who are tired to play against the same teams again and again. Personaly I don't give a **** but still some people do and I mean, it's not a big deal so there's no need to tell them to shut the **** up.

Well I guess all of this could have been avoided by adding a little "teams can only play the same team twice/thrice during ladder stage"?

Sorry if there already was a suggestion like this but I haven't been up to date recently

Maybe you are a genius :iamamoron: and I didn't really mean it when I said "biased", hence the retarded smiles.

Anyway. What is the point in playing the same team 3 times? I get it, it's unlucky and the chance of this happening is very small, either way, when you guys will be making a tournament format in the future, just minimize or totally remove the risk of this happening. Playing a team twice is alright, happens, it can even boost a morale when you get a second chance. But having to play the team 3 times doesn't really make sense, it's repetitive and not fun, not to say that if there's a skill gap, it's also unfair... It shouldn't be allowed, that's what I am saying.

Oh boii... you lost week 2 match... oh wow, you need to climb Mount Everest now... :ohdear:

EDIT: I am not sure if keeping it as it is right now is the right way to go.

Anyway, don't blame the admin team, when we have to organize a training match it's already a mess sometimes, so I can't imagine how hard it can be to have to manage a tournament and to try to find a system that please everybody, and if you look back at the previous tournaments, it's always the case. OGL couldn't predict the fact teams would have to play against the same opponents two or three times, as Unity didn't expect to lose against Aequalitas, still we did because they played better. So if we have to play against Reunited again, it's mostly our fault. I didn't think that much about the system but if you have to talk about it, talk about it constructively and try to find solutions for the future tournaments rather than fighting upon each other.

Changing something that can determine who qualifies for knockout stage on week 6 would be awful. I think there are 5 matches only until the tournament ends so just focus on ending it and learn from this for the next one. I'm sure most people dislike the rematches and don't like the way the match ups are determined on the current rules but just gotta adapt to it and not make a big deal out of it. There's no bias possible as the rules were written, you could've had the same luck and you wouldn't be complaining on forums about it, same way you don't need to pretend you had a huge climb or anything like that because for this week what affected the match ups were the no-rematching condition and overall match up rules, you had the same points than other teams like GWB and GP.

You're hosting a great tournament even if the match ups and the rules weren't optimal, hope it meets a good end and this doesn't stop you hosting more events in the future.

I am pretty sure that admin team will learn a bit from this situation so I am fine with it.

Welp, here we go Unity, I can already see the headshots coming.

I think most alternatives have been tried in teh past and all have their advantages and disadvanatges. Do you have a suggestion for what would be better? The more rematches are limited the more we get unequal matches.

Personally I think Bucholz is not helping, when Harman introduced Bucholz (WNL5) to Warband we had not fully appreciated that it was designed for a single player game where teh match conditions do not vary. It is not very suited to Warband where the team composition and match conditions (map and factions) vary a lot. Team dropouts cause a big distortion also.
