We are not talking only about the flashiest, most important things, such as warriors, weapons or impressive architecture: in order to be realistic, a 3D world needs to take care of its smallest details. 3D modellers do exactly that: they work like sculptors, giving shape to their imagination to create and populate the worlds we will “live” in when we play. In this week’s blog we talk with 3D modeller Ümit Singil, who takes care of such things – but being one of the most veteran members of the TaleWorlds team, he has a history of doing a good number of different tasks for the Mount & Blade games.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/36

I am sure he is much more than "Morale Officer"!

These two screenshots are in the blog!

Is the fact that castles now appear to be constructed new information? (not dove too deep into Bannerlord posts)

Either way, that's pretty cool!

Campaign map looks great and I absolutely love the look of the new Campaign UI, which replaces one of my few gripes with the last game.

Third.

Also is it just me or does anybody else dislike the way the names are over the villages and towns now?

Same here, I don’t like the coloured bar, it’s unnecessary UI in my opinion. However, it isn’t game-breaking for me so I won’t complain if it remains like that. I’m sure modders will change it.

Castles are linked to villages, therefore a village without a castle can have one constructed for it.

Edit 2-

Will we be able to choose in any way, what the castle design is? Or is each castle predetermined for each village?

he meant the partial built castle showing the progress of the project (as in, this castle is not yet finished), which I don't recall seeing before. A nice touch if it makes to the final version of the game. Also a nice visual cue to choose what to attack next (think a village with a partial castle x one with a fully upgrade one)

I have to admit I like the world map shown on 2016 more than the current...

Not only the name of the settlements, but it seems the settlement itself is on a lower definition?

Question to the 3d modelling devs: As you grow in strength and training, will this progress show on your muscles?

I rather leave it to the player by using the character creator at any time (like in Warband), so you can control how your char looks (and even change it over time to fit your RP vision)

I personally like it. Better than warband where you literally could not read some text because of the color.

Oh I get ya.
I’m glad there is a construction phase. Much better than the castle just randomly appearing after the allotted time.
It seems village improvements appear on the map, but I hope they also appear within the village.

well that tends to happens to games in favor of costs and performance.

well they could post 4k screenshots, but they are posting low resolution (.jpg with low DPI, etc) ones instead (so it is hard to tell this kind of detail).

Maybe Callum could post a few heavy screenshots in this thread :?:

Yeah, though I imagine every upgrade for every village would be a nightmare to model. Maybe not every village can have everything this time around though? There's an interesting idea.

Great blog.
Hey Callum,
do you think we could get some information on what kind of culling you guys are using for not rendering the tris of the base body model when wearing armor? Also what kind of format are you guys using for your materials? These are the questions most pressing to me right now

It would be awesome if the body of the character changed continuously throughout gameplay. Like if you get captured for too long, your character's body could turn visibly weaker. Wouldn't have to necessarily affect actual stats though. (Maybe in some hardcore difficult.)(Permadeath???)

I would think this not too difficult to implement via script. Just track Strength or whatever every like day and if it increases set fat to a lower and muscles to a higher value.

My thoughts exactly. You become a glutonous lazy emperor? Your body gets fat and weakens. You are training daily? You get jacked. You are captive or sieged for many months? Shows as well. But unlike your perspective, imo, lifestyle should affect stats as well. As in real life.
