Their hilltop fortresses have born witness to countless wars fought to resist outside invaders: first the Empire's legions, and more recently the rising Sturgian and Vlandian kingdoms. They are masters of the longbow, the night raid, the sudden wild charge out of the woods. They idolise valour, but especially like it when mixed with a bit of mischief - the cattle thief who can whisk an entire herd into the fog; the champion who dines with a rival tribe, and, regaling his hosts with an anecdote of battle, produces from his bag the skull of one of their kinsmen that he took as a souvenir.

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/30

The battanian artwork doesn't look like the in game battanians, is that normal ?

The artwork indeed looks more alive than the screenshots. That's partly because Mound&Blade animations are a bit clunky to say the least, so you're not likely to see those natural relaxed poses in game.
It would be really cool to see different walking and running animations to add more character to the scenes. Yes it will affect hitbox placing so the guy who walks looking at his feet will be harder to hit than others, but I think this is okay for SP mode.

Best review so far! I love, love and love it and all you guys at TaleWorlds!

This is just the kind of thing I've been looking forward to and I think its great. I love to know about the factions we'll get to play and the Battanians looks freaking great! I am already looking forward to more reviews like this.

looks fantastic

Celtic peak was around 400 BCE, around 500 AD were they that successful ? ..maybe if they formed up into knife phalanxs, they could have been ?

BTW, I would LOVE to follow these blogs .. BUT i don't have a Twitter or FB accounts, they bann anyone who follows right-wing politics. Could you send out Email reminders when a new Blogs are released ? .. please

Did anyone notice the crows on the top of the sign and stable?

At first I thought them to be woodwork only, but I guess they might have included some animals, which is awesome...crows in the battlefield...hmmm...reminds me of Menelaus and Paris

Actually, that could be my question for next week's blog...will there be some farm/wild animals in the game, and what type of interaction with the player can we expect?

A pig was spotted far away in the background of a recent screenshot... so yes, we're going to get more animals than just horses!

I wonder if there will be any interaction with these animals.

First, greatly appreciate this blog and the development team's patience in developing a great successor to Warband-- I may be in the minority, but as a longtime M&B fan, I feel Bannerlord has the potential to be a truly epic game, and this should not be sacrificed for an earlier release. I was wondering how unique the units, weapons and tactics are planned to be for the various cultures. I would like to see stronger differences and disparities, and unique tactics amongst the cultures yet still mostly balanced. For example, the true early medieval Welsh/Picts/Irish did not have stirrups, in fact VERY few had horses at all, and there was no true cavalry or cavalry based tactics. They also tended to fight with little armor, relying on cover, terrain and agility, as well as decentralized hit and run tactics employing ranged weapons and concealed infantry in extremely restricted terrain. Under the right conditions (broken, rough, hilly, wooded terrain, streams, etc.) they could defeat even a well formed shieldwall by surrounding them and rapidly striking from all sides and withdrawing to cover, shifting, and repeating. Having cultures that use disciplined infantry and cavalry as flankers, or Roman style infantry line/skirmish lines, etc. could make for some very interesting tactical match ups if the right AI was in place to make each side respond dynamically.

I detected the pig as well WOW !!!(after reading your post I spend 2 minutes to detect it)
Athough it can be a really fat dog too(unlikely).
If there were dogs in Bannerlord Battanians could have tamed them and use them in ambush battles it would be great but it is a very hard thing to do so maybe for the third game WHO knows ?

Maybe Khuzaits can use raccoons or wild pigs to hunt or practice horse archery or maybe we can already do it with crows(I hope so).

The thing is adding various animals can contribute a lot to the gameplay(missions from village elders like killing the wild pig in the swamp who wounds villagers, hunts, military practices or using dogs in battles etc.)

If there will be elephants in the third game(15 years later at best lol) I cant think how intense will be the campaign.

What beautiful capes those men are wearing. Hmmmm... Capes.
Capes are good but that hoodie on the first picture is completely unrealistic and should be ditched for something that has side vision. Horses wear blinders to stop them from being distracted by things to the side. Men in combat want to see those things that are on the side.

Oh ...... and a great blog. Thanks.

Great blog entry,
Regarding the possibility of having wildlife...
Wouldn't it be great if there was a sort of "mini-game" you would access on the camp menu, where you could go hunting, or fishing... (this coud be a timesink, i know... but you could read books while waiting fo the fish to bite  )

IMPORTANT:grin:ont you guys think the blades are getting a bit too boring? i mean every blade has a different shape as we saw but wouldnt it be cool as **** if the blades had some kind of art on them? it would make them less boring and it would make the game more beautiful overall.OPTIONAL it would also be cool if you could type something on the blades for extra coins at the blacksmith i think thats very hard to make but it would be cool if you could write something like:Slay or Killer on the blades.(everything i mentioned should cost extra coins, for example the better the artstyle on the sword the bigger the price you're going to pay at the blacksmith,if you want to make it more realistic it could also take a few days for the blacksmith to finish the artstyle, like 1-2 days, but i guess that would end up being boring or idk..anyways thanks for reading the post i hope Callum sees this).

Wow, that's a nice idea, but would slow down even more the game development
