Today we start a series of interviews with the different team members of TaleWorlds Entertainment. Every video game is the result of the combined efforts of professionals with very different skills, and that applies to Mount & Blade too. Ours is a varied team, with people from different backgrounds: programmers, artists, musicians and writers (among others) from different parts of the world and varying cultures. Understanding their tasks and their daily struggle is a great way to learn more about games development in general – and Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord in particular! Today we start with TaleWorlds’ founder and CEO: Armagan Yavuz. Every important decision passes through his hands; he is the one that makes sure that everyone and everything stays true to the original vision of the game. But it will be much better if he tells you about it by himself!

[/parsehtml]Read more at: http://www.taleworlds.com/en/Games/Bannerlord/Blog/22

Openness and communication is so much more attractive than a release date. Smooth development doesn't even matter to me if these things exist.

I love to hear about various feelings on the project.
And props to the community team for putting up with us *****y players!
Same here, but a beta or something similar, along with those modding tools they mentioned couple of times, would greatly shorten mods creation time.
I will seriously freak out when Anno Domini or equal comes to Bannerlord !

They're neither very open nor do they communicate any meaningful information, though. I mean these kinds of blogs are usually done after a game is released or dunno, when you create something like a kickstarter campaign. If that is all you have to show after 7 years of development that is pretty... lacking. They haven't gone back to previously announced things like features that were promised to be shown 2 years ago or what the whole deal was with the 'end of 2016 hopefully, but we are doing the finishing touches right now guys'. People tend to not like it if you say something and then simply ignore what you yourself have said, especially when there's no explanation given as to why what you said isn't true anymore.

I don't know what Taleworlds is doing, but they're not doing a very good job all around. I mean, just look at how Larian Studios handles development: They have their own engine and have developed and released two mammoth-projects in the last few years. Well, almost, because Original Sin 2 comes out in september but I digress. They had a clear goal: They wanted to revitalize the CRPG genre and take their own spin with it. They never fantasized about how it will be the bestest most awesomest game ever, they even broke a promise here and there they made during their kickstarter campaign. Was anyone angry at them? No, because they explained why certain things weren't possible they thought possible at the time they made the promise. But most importantly, they make steady progress because they know what they're doing, know what they want and know how to get there in a reasonable amount of time.

Cue Taleworlds who hasn't delivered anything in the last 7 years. There were a few blogs about features that were never mentioned again as well as combat videos. The only thing that's entirely new is the Sergeant Mode which sounds like they expanded the mod Freelancer. Siege engines and sieges that might not be a horrible mess that's unpleasant all around. And a Multiplayer mode that could be straight out of Tiger Knight or any other game of that sort. Though we saw the siege engines last year and who knows maybe they're one of the things that are in the process of being scrapped and redone or were already removed entirely for the game. We don't even know if the siege engines we saw in the videos were scripted to hell and back to simply show what they want to do and to just have something they could show.

I'm just wondering about small details, if they by any chance will add or have already added some of these features:

Equipment selection before battle. Just a button in the 'Charge* screen (gods I need this. I always forget to change equipment before engaging and then in the battle I have too much to do. as a result i never have more than one set of equipment)

moving hair. (Yes it has been said but I still wanna make sand a few other stuff I can't rememberure)

support for firearms (for mods/DLC like NW to be made)

Hey callum you probably answered this already but I'd like to ask you if bannerlord on the PS4 can possibly obtain mods to the ps4 ik this might be a real stretch but Id like to ask you so you can help me settle that anxiety

Have you tried pressing the inventory key when on that screen?

Dude, there are no mods for Warband on the PS4 and Bannerlord is not even confirmed for PS4. Get a grip on reality.

Everything we saw out of gameplay implies that all 3 empire of calradia parts, western, northern and southern have same units, resembling early byzantine units, NO roman legionaires, hoplites and such. I saw there is a unit called "legionaires" in a commander mode gameplay, but they look nothing like legionaires. I like byzantine history but i also hoped for some old roman units in testudo formation ?. Hope some mods can go a long way that road.

Every post here improves if you replace "roman" with "woman".
And "byzantine" with "transgender" apparently...

Altough im glad a new blog is out, its dissapointing that it is about what we already know, about 10 or so youtubers have already uploaded and talked about commander mode videos at gamescom (includinng purzelblume and peter). Its a pretty basic concept to understand, we really needed something new out of this blog. Like if you plan on adding more voice sounds because the one and only voice that we hear constantly for hit and death screams, giving orders voice and such is just lame and annoyingly repetetive.
Just a friendly suggestion from a long time M&B gamer

Did by any chance, someone actually got thinking, that with them mentioning starting some things from scratch maybe means they rearranged the whole singleplayer adding, aside from an overview map, a possibility of choosing a witcher style open world where you walk from village to village, town to town? Nobody guesses anything positive that can bring the devs reading your comments some great ideas. (If they didnt implement that, and this comment does just that for some dev, it will add 2 more years of development, but a great feature LOL)

Oh crap that's a really good idea.... You just blew my mind. And your warband actually follows you around until you tell them not to
