The cold shoulder is not the problem. A lot of companies do the same for many years until they're ready to show their game. Taleworlds does not act in a way that would make their fans trust them. One of the reasons for TW's success is that a lot of people have spread the word about their games. TW never was any good at PR, their games sold themselves and word of mouth was super important for the reach that the games got. Now those people that feel like they contributed feel invested. They want Bannerlord to be a success but they are worried that it might not be one because TW's communication has been terrible.

People heard them say they wanted to have the game in the player's hands in 2016, no word about it ever since. They want to hear something more substantial about the game's release rather than "we don't know". Who is supposed to know? Do they have a release schedule?  Because after 5 years, I think people are right to feel worried about such issues. The smarter thing is to alleviate those worries and have those people continue to be a part of the community in a positive way with actual community management and proper PR work.

There is a lot of negativity surrounding this community now and it is because of TW's actions, not despite them.
I copied this and have it framed in a spot over my computer.

I've never previously been worried about Bannerlord. I always gave TW the benefit of the doubt, chose to be optimistic. "Communication just isn't part of their company culture," "they're just making sure it's a quality product" and so on. Until we heard they're now adding stances. Making what seems like a big change to a core game mechanic at this late stage. Now I'm a wee bit worried.

Hey, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe stances aren't actually a big deal to add with the way they've structured things. Maybe they've been developing stances as a core part of it all along and just never even hinted at it. Maybe they're in the videos and we just never noticed it, and maybe the reviewers who played it never happened to press that hotkey.

Maybe.

In the grand scheme of things it doesn't actually matter of BL takes an age to release. Or if the fans have an accurate picture of when that release will be. Still, would be nice for us to have some assurance .

Stances? I didn't catch that word anywhere, could you provide a quote or something? Curious exactly what they said and meant by stances. Hopefully that just means something like bracing Spears and pikes, locking shields together, things like that.

On further watching it doesn't sound so bad.

Devs just look in to it .

Well, I've tried to touch this subject a thousand times here, community doesn't seem to have enough IQ to understand this, and the Devs don't seem to care about it.
The 2016 sort of hinted what the Deadline was, but it seems that they can't manage it since there's absolutely no hint or idea of when it's going to get done even after burning it...

I've already given up on the game, I come back once in a while just to look if something's changed, but it doesn't... PR seems to be the same bs as always, no ETA, no Deadline... Since I do share the same logic behind the video you've posted, I won't buy this game, I believe this is the last time I've come back here in hopes, it's gone now...

There are people who complain when a game is released and full of bugs...
There are people who complain when a game is released and does not fullfill their expectations...
There are people who complain when a game is released and does not deliver what was promised...
There are people who complain when a game is released and is not balanced...
There are people who complain when a game is released too soon...

Though Im not experienced in complex programming, i know how much work piles up "just" fixing bugs. (Like some programmers saying: fixing 1 bug gernerates 2 new ones lol)
And i know how time consuming it can be to create 1 map since im a modder too.

An this list goes on and on!
People are just impatient.
But Taleworlds are giving them the cold shoulder. In my opinion, its the right thing to do.

BECAUSE:
I bought many hyped and not hyped games which were released too soon and were simply **** and not worth the price they cost!

So pleaseTaleworlds,
release the game when its ready and dont listen to those who dont know anything about gamemaking and sorts.

The game is ready when you say its ready!

PS:grin:own with the crying peasants!

Arrogance: The post.

You type that **** up as though everyone complaining has never made anything in their lives. I admit I have little game development experience, but that is also irrelevant. A game project is like any other, it has a list of things that need to be done, responsibilities that need to be delegated and a market/audience that is invested(monetarily or emotionally) in it. The whole point of creating a game at the end of the day is to make a product that people want to purchase and play. If you drag game development on forever while every little thing you have a problem with is addressed: the game will never be released. And you talk about people's expectations: The longer the game development goes on the more people are going to expect from the game. If you're messing around with trivialities while the consumer is expecting massive amounts of core content, then you will get a poorer player response.

It's about finding a balance between what you want and what the consumer wants. Right now TaleWorlds is busy with what they want and not what the community wants. (Anecdote) My friends and I have now had two notable conversations about Bannerlord and it always comes down to one thing: what the **** is TaleWorlds even doing? I can't speak for anyone else, but prior to my first post in this thread I haven't said a word about how long this is taking. There will always be that kid without patience asking where the game is every second day since 2014, but I am not one of them.

Perhaps the biggest mistakes TaleWorlds has made was announcing they're making the game in 2012 and have developers dropping hints about a release in 2016.

A disgruntled consumer doesn't spend money. And disgruntled is exactly what people are becoming.

Would you rather have a great game or Mass Effect: Andromeda?  How about No Man's Sky?  Or even the original release of Viking Conquest and the over-whelming bug-fest that a significant number of players complained about?

Steam is dropping about 5000 games a year now.  I'm sure there are one-or-two that might be playable by you...  I know I've got a dozen I need to complete:  Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Stellaris, Don't Starve, StarDew Valley, Civ VI,  Master of Orion, Prey,  yada, yada, yada... to go along with World of Warships, World of Tanks and two MMOs I play..,

By the time this game is released VR will be the standard.

The VR hype bubble burst in 2016.  The venture capital is drying up.  The market of High End/Early adopters has been (mostly) satiated.  Sales have dropped.  It's really more gimmick than anything.

I'd like to see a beta released as well, even if it's not available on Steam Early Access. I have a difficult time playing Warband, currently in my Steam library at 1604 hours (with probably another 400 in modding), because it constantly reminds me of my desire to play Bannerlord. I don't think there is any amount of development time that will create a game that will please everyone, but you have a deeply invested community, and with the right foundation we can (and will) build a plethora of mods that will please everyone. The sooner you put the game in our hands, the better. The fact that so many of us are still playing Warband should tell you everything you need to know - we can forego polish for game play.

A beta would be the only logical thing to give us to hang onto until release. I see comments all the time from dramatic people kicking up a huff about the fact that they've been waiting a hundred years for this game to be released and yet there's still no release date so they say they're never going to support Taleworlds ever again.

I try not to be one of those people but Jesus Christ, it's the middle of the year and we're still in the dark as to whether we're going to have wait yet another year for the game to be released.
Obviously at some point people are going to get sick of waiting and the hype for the game is going to dropout completely.
