Azan reduced the requirement for throwing axes.

Oh... so all infantry and cav from all factions can now pickup heavy throwing axes. Is he doing the same to Throwing Spears and Jarids? I know they aren't used too often, but still.

I dislike most of the changes listed above, for multiple reasons.
Also, serverside mods really shouldn't be the way to go.

We just want to make the fights more even, so like Nords aren't almost automatically going to win closed maps, and Rhods become actually viable on open maps. It makes it more interesting.

Yes, obviously. But having different troop-/itemstats on server and client, can cause some issues. Downloading a 5mb module really isn't much to ask...

I have tested it, the only glitch we ran into was when we tried to make Ashwood usable with shield, which we just took out of the mod all together. From playing it, it was pretty ok tbh nothing major went wrong with our test, we just need people to actually play it now.

Most of the changes have already been tested in the previous balance patch and are effectively legacy from that.

The main additions are the nerf of nord javs, slight nerf of vaegir power draw and awlpikes not being allowed on horseback.

The values that are being modified should have no impact on performance or introduce any graphical bugs. The only bug that is introduced is being unable to scroll through weapons if you have an awlpike on horseback, however this I consider to be pretty irrelevant since a) cav wont be taking awlpikes now and b) you can get round it using number key switching.

All throwing weapons have been set to throwing skill 1, I figured that most throwing weapons are so rarely seen that it honestly won't matter. Javs are pretty much the only thing in use at the moment for obvious reasons.

I agree with this. If you want equal chances, why not just play with mirrored factions? Plus, for the best effect, a mirrored map - Already have Winterburg, only need a second now. If we always play the same maps, teams should be able to prepare better tactics for them, in turn making it more interesting, aye?


Bit of a rant I guess, but I prefer the asynchronous balancing Warband currently has - and, to be honest, I don't see any issues calling for a mod to fix them - yes, awlpikes on horseback are strong. Does that make Swadia win every time? No, not really...

Factions still have advantages and disadvantages, they aren't really that similar, it just closes the gaps between the really strong ones. Nord become less dominant thus opening up for Rhods to become more so viable against them. Nord cav has more shield skill thus making it harder for xbows to shoot through, makes Nord cav better on open vs xbow factions.

Basically Rhodoks for example are now viable on an open map, they aren't a liability as before, Nords are more useful on open maps for more than the free javs. Factions still have advantages over one another, but it gives us more options to play with and use in matches.
