Times Are Hard: a persistent mod.

Synopsis
Times are hard is soon-to-be released persistent mod that comes with a bit of a twist. Instead of constraining our development to a single point in time, we, as a team, opted to go for a wider time in an effort to include more content and give our mod more avenues to expand. Instead of constraining ourselves to only the 1860s, we instead decided to include content that covers almost the whole of the 18th and 19th centuries.  This design choice allowed us to place more power in the hands of the map maker, and with that, the community. A huge point to this mod is letting the players choose what they want to play. With this said, we want to allow the community to guide our project. We are offering platforms for feedback in the form of our TeamSpeak server as well as our website’s forum. Feel free to make use of both these avenues and help us make the mod you want to play.

Features
Times are hard has quite a few new and unique features. I’ll outline some of our key features here, but our website, http://persistentmodding.com/, offers more details about the specifics.

1. Our improved effects bring a whole new level of immersion to the game. Don’t get lost in a haze of gun smoke!
2. An inventive jail system allows town watch to strip players of their gear and place them in jail for breaking the law of the land. Players can open the jail cell(s) by killing a Town Watch guard, they drop jail keys!
3. Advanced weaponry is more difficult to obtain. A good repeater should be something you earn. Times are hard, after all. (up to scene editor to add scene prop)
4. Persistent data. All player data (gold, armor, troop, health, weapons, position, faction, etc) is stored automatically. Because no one likes to lose their hard work.
5. Personal gold banking.
6. Reworked animations and sounds
7. Periodic faction income (faction lords periodically earn gold for every territory owned)
8. Ability for lords to pay their soldiers with the press of a button. (dubbed "faction payroll"). Allows faction lords to pay every member of their faction immediately. (by pressing "p").
9. Shotguns and blunderbusses – Decimate you enemies close range!
10. Improved accuracy – Trust your aim and trust the game. Pick enemies off at range with a deadly accuracy, or get a little closer and put down groups of men with only your repeater.
11. Pistols – Use these cheaper alternatives to defend yourself in day to day life. A settler packing a derringer is bad news for a would-be bandit.
12. New administrative functions: "Teleport player to admin". "Send player to jail" (automatically strip the player of all weapons, equip an prisoner outfit and teleport player to jail scene prop). "Refill all stockpiles" (automatically refill / restock all depleted stockpiles on the scene)
13. Ability for server owners to host their own CRUD API (web scripts).
14. Authentic 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th century firearms and clothing.
15. Unique ID (GUID) whitelisting: Server owners may use this feature to only allow "approved" players from playing on their server.
16. Cross-website chat: Players browsing our website may view and engage in global chat that is displayed in-game.
17. Heal NPC: Players may purchase an expensive heal (9,000 gold) from the healer NPC (arena_spectator_a).

And much more in the works... Feel free to provide balance suggestions and feedback once the mod goes live!
