General Roleplaying Banter

Aaaah, yeah. They removed a lot of the peripheral classes in 5th edition. So nothing really like that anymore. But I might be able to homebrew it, if my DM allows it.

On the other hand, a lot of those telekinetics and stuff are now kinda covered by the monk way of the elements specialisation. Which gives stuff equivalent to force push, pull, grab etc. What I need is something to "beef up" the character's combat resilience, and allow him to use martial weapons.

It's a bit barebones, yeah. But that's kinda the charm of it. Really reminiscent of older, "cleaner" versions like AD&D. Just without all the convoluted peripheral rules for stuff like mounted combat, spellcasting and *shivers* grappling. I was sceptical too when my current group started up and everyone were on 5th since I "grew up" playing 2nd and 3.5th ed. But I really like it. And have had loads of fun with it the last couple of years. Thing is, you can do a lot of the same stuff with it, you just have to accept that there aren't specific rules for a lot of stuff anymore. Like prestige classes. You can still make an Eldritch Knight. But in reality that just means multiclassing a fighter and a sorcerer, or wizard. And so forth. In reality it gives you a lot more flexibility. And it's a lot more conducive to actual character roleplaying than rule-monsters like 3.5 were. And.... best of all. And I feel like I'm saying this every time 5th is mentioned. NO ALIGNMENT RESTRICTIONS! \o/

I know. I've read a lot of the stuff you sent me.

Even so. Playing a C/N paladin in Forgotten Realms is awesome! Pallies are also a lot of fun to play, mechanically and stuff, when you aren't forced to be a haughty ****.

I forget the order, but there's an interesting order in Ebberon centering on paladins/clerics killing both good and evil characters that threaten the balance. Essentially they are the Grey Jedi of the setting.

Had to ask Gamma:

Possibly. Don't know much about it to be honest.

It's a super simple system. The character creation is fairly easy.

Plot would probably freelancers during the early part of the Empire.

Freelance smugglers, yargh! Post Order 66 besides the Old Republic is the best timeline.

We all know how these ideas end in the Tavern.  :shifty:

I was at least 12 and at most 14, don't judge me. I am much more intelligent now I hope.

So I've been lurking.

What RP's are there still running?
Would anyone be up for a M&B: Warband RP sometime soon?
I've been out for a while, but I want back in.
Last I checked Ulf had a Warband RP going still. If a tad stagnant at the moment.

Sounds cool. Bit like a stripped down "Edge of the Empire"?

Yeah, about ish.

I will be using a few homebrew things. (I've been a GM for this system for a while.) One of them being is ignoring the Dark Side rules. (You get enough Dark Side points, you turn to the Dark Side, and the character becomes a NPC villain. The player then makes a new character.)
Cool! So I can be a total scumbag and not get booted. Nice!

It's sort of on a permanent break...

I'm not adverse to anyone else stepping in to fill the void, I'm basically traveling every weekend until mid-March (hooray research funding), so I don't think GMing is in the cards right now (although if someone has a cool idea, I'm happy to support with a character).
