NATIONS CUP LOGO

kgbnn.png

Hello all,

We are very please to unveil the Nations Cup 2016 logo, designed by Chat Noir, for the competition.

Chat agreed to create the logo, at the request of the NC Admin team and developed it with the aid of our ideas and feedback.

What I like about the logo is how bright and energetic the design is, reminding me of international sporting events like the football World Cup and the Olympics. Chat's design incorporates red, blue, yellow and green, representing the Warband factions Swadia, Nords, Sarranids and Rhodoks respectively - with Vaegirs (white) represented by the neutral space.

The logo is fitted for the Mount & Blade theme, showing the N and C locked in sword combat, in the blue and red colours traditionally used across all competitive gaming and in Warband multiplayer (check the scoreboard!).

For me, the best part of the logo is how it comes together to form a smiley face . The NC, while fiercely competitive, has always been run in the spirit of inclusivity and remains one of the most significant mixer tournaments, where players break free from the clans and meet new people.

Thanks to Chat, for producing such a wonderful, professional logo and best of luck to all the teams in the Nations Cup.

WEEK 1 & 2 SCORE ADJUSTMENTS

This decision has been affected by an updated ruling.

When a player is proven to have cheated according to the rules, any resulting potential benefit to the team of that player, must not be allowed to stand. This is the reason for the rule:

§ 2 Cheating

(4) If a player is found to have broken any of the rules during a match and the admins determine that a significant advantage was gained, that player’s team will forfeit the relevant rounds.

It should be noted by all players that the term ‘significant advantage’ is intended to separate rule violations that could have no possible advantage from rule violations that do give a possible advantage.  The extent of the actual advantage in any given match is not the proper application of this term. The term ‘relevant rounds’ is taken to indicate all rounds in which the player broke a rule.

In week 1 Austria Switzerland played a banned player, Disturbed, in their match against Turkey. Regardless of the actual performance of the player, such a roster violation is a potential benefit and therefore the official match score is adjusted to: Turkey 12-0 Austria & Switzerland

In week 1 and week 2 Arys, of team NA, played with highlighted projectiles in the NA match against Finland and against Austria&Switzerland. Among the benefits of highlighted projectiles are that they enable the user to more quickly: find their range and shoot/throw more accurately; locate used projectiles; locate enemy ranged players and notice enemy projectiles. For this reason the NA official match scores are adjusted to: North America 0- 12 Finland and North America 0- 12 Austria & Switzerland.

The admins are naturally disappointed that players and teams have failed to understand the rules sufficiently for the tournament to play out fairly.  We remind all players that it is their responsibility to read, understand and comply with the rules but admins are available to answer questions if necessary.

WEEK 1 & 2 SCORE ADJUSTMENTS - UPDATE

In light of the public reaction to the decision that was made, as a result of the admin majority decision, to adjust the scores of the NA Team's week 1 & 2 matches, in light of the evidence that their leader Arys was cheating by using a modified texture that gave him an unfair advantage, I have gathered support for a re-evalutation of the ruling.

With an admin majority, we had initially agreed to delay tonight's match in order to allow for the decision to be retaken. However, after speaking to the leader of the Turkish team, Rayden, we agreed to further reach a final decision in order for tonight's matches to be played in its knowledge.

Several admins were not online on Steam and therefore were not consulted on this issue, although there is an overall majority vote.

The new decision is that Arys' tournament ban will be upheld but the original results of NA vs FIN and NA vs AUT & SWI will stand (8-8 and 10-3, respectively).

There is no excuse for cheating and it inevitably causes a fallout and a bad atmosphere like the present one in this tournament. We should be united in our condemnation of any usage of dishonest methods to gain an unfair advantage. However, as admins with experience and knowledge of the game, it is also our responsibility to make decisions which reflect the reality of the issue.

Please note, however, that those who made negative or destructive posts which are not in keeping with the tournament rules will be subject to punishment.

As one addition, the NA team will be subject to special checks during tonight's game, including the provision of screenshots from players. The details of this will be handled and made clear to those involved by the referee for the match.

NATIONS CUP B

The Nations Cup B – a KnockOut stage for the teams who did not pass through the NC2016 group stage will commence this week.
North America and Czechoslovakia have declined to join. Austria & Switzerland, Ireland, Norway & Denmark, Spain, Sweden and Yugoslavia have accepted, and are invited to take part in the Picking Night as outlined in the NCB Quarter Finals thread.
