How do you access the new storyline that came out in the reforged edition? I tried making a new character but that did not work.

No, you need to start new game with RE.

What do you mean by "start a new game with RE"? I started a new game, didn't do any of the original storyline quests and just got to level 8 and more than 150 renown. I've waited about a week in game but no messenger has appeared with any quests.

go to the world map (safe location)
hold CTRL+ SPACE
wait for 1 to 3 days (ingame :XD)

ps.: you need to install VC RE 2.0 and Warband 1.168, did you do that?
