Tweaks for Viking Conquest (one for 2.028, others for 2.021, 2.012, 2.010 etc)

First of all thanks Krag and all the other folks working on these tweaks, they have made my game much more enjoyable!

I tried using the conversations.txt file that allows you to recruit your wife into your party and it seems to have issues in 2.021, I got a wide array of indecipherable error messages and some very strange conversation responses.  Any plans to update the tweak for the newest version?  It would be greatly appreciated (and yes I backed up my conversations.txt file).

I concur with Ordo_Lyrae; all of these tweaks and manipulations of the in-game files has made VC for me a lot more enjoyable in the long-term :grin:
All of your knowledge, sharing and assistance has typified what makes a forum great for noobs and veterans alike!

All of the tweaks I've tried have worked flawlessly, so got no complaints on that score!  However, I've searched about for a few days now, on and off this forum, looking for a way to turn off the transparency behind the Tactical Menu and the Town/Fort Labels, as I frequently cannot see the text they're attempting to display.

Does anyone know how to tweak those settings?  I'd take a tutorial and investigating myself in lieu of an easy solution, just so long as I could alter the damnable things *LOL*!  The crazy thing is, every once in a while I'll have a nice colour background pop up behind the Tactical text menus, making them lovely and clear, instead of me having to tilt the camera to make sure I click the right thing.

I know I can memorise the shortcuts and use direct combination key presses to achieve what I want, but when I've brought it up to check where the enemy is, starting selecting/deselecting troops it's a lot easier to click those commands immediately.  Plus the Mouse-move and flag positioning for me, within that Tactical menu seems to bugger things up every time :smile:

Any help/pointers/assistance in this would be appreciated.

Ordo_Lyrae, I have no plans to update it myself, but there should be a link to the step-by-step guide in the tweak post.


Aelfric_Ikeasson, I believe you would have to find the correct textures for those UI elements and then edit the alpha channel (http://www.underwaterphotography.com/PhotoShop/PhotoShop/help.html go to index then alpha). Should be fairly simple if you can find it. The texture might be in the main Warband texture folder, depends if VC uses a replacement.
 
Hey, I just tried downloading the vc_hoods.brf for the Alternate Crowns tweak, but the files aren't there? Maybe it needs a re-upload?

Re-uploaded it. There's probably a more reliable hosting site I could use than sendspace and zippyshare, need to look into it at some point.

In scripts.txt, the 50 is probably base moral, the 12 is probably leadership bonus, the 15 probably leadership bonus when king. That's presuming it's the same as native, which it may not be.
In the current version of the reforged edition, the 50 is not base moral. I set it to 70, then started a new game. Base moral was still 50. (I did not test the other 2 numbers since the text in scripts.txt was quite different from line 2 and onwards than in the referred 1.04 edition.)
Anyone know where the number for base moral is retrieved from in reforged VC?
 
I want, ale,wine and mead give morale like foods how can I do it? Also if possible I want my soldiers stop stealing them from my inventory.

Change the 24 (how often they try it) to 99999.



tomoscar, I believe Kale3's submod changed the base morale successfully, you could ask him about it.
 
Manage village garrisons (2.021) originally by blacklimo

This is useful if you find yourself defending the same villages against raiders repeatedly and want to leave some troops there to help out. The troops won't do anything if the player is not involved (the AI never fights the villagers), and they will still be there if the village is burned while you're away (let's presume they won't fight without a commander).

Can be used to cheat for free troops currently. If you change the 2043 into 2056 it should mean you can only give troops (so can't take the existing farmers), but this means you can't retrieve any troops you place there. nope this didn't work

Also you won't pay wages for these troops.
 
How do I edit, numbers of my enterprizes product? I mean for example instead of 2 ales, I want them produce 5 ales, is that possible? Also is there a way to edit honor loss caused by slave markets?
Also I remember we can edit money we get from tariffs(not rents), but I forgot where did I see that, if anyone help me about this, I'd be grateful.

Im sick of this stupid 40 man enemy raids of my fiefs. I havent the fun allways reduce my 600 man to 100 just to get them catch up.

I might be wrong, but I think that tweak only affects the player, meaning the AI would still be able to loot villages with their tiny parties.
 
Ctrl+F find player_process_enterprise, after that search for "2108 2 1224979098644774922" after that number there should be 1000 after that.İf you lower it you'll gain more money from enterprises.It aplies every enterprise. Also search for "2108 2 1224979098644774926" after that again you'll see 1000, if you raise it, the automoatic raw reasource buying will be cheaper. I'm trying to figure  out, the raw resource input and finished product output.

This is for 2.012 version.If the numbers changed, I'll still try to help.
 
A couple of tweaks that might help others who, like me, are irked by the most minor things.

Thrusting Standard Bearers: This tweak basically changes the attack animation (swing) without switching the weapon class (two-handed). Now they use polearms´ thrust and overhead thrust animations. Kinda like a pikeman and more fitting to the model of the weapon, if you ask me.

First make a backup of item_kinds1.txt, then open it with a text editor and...
Find the a line starting with itm_standard then replace that one and the following one (itm_standard_dragon) with these lines

There is another tweak that also complements the previous one.

"Aimable" two-handed polearms overhead thrust: This just means that you can look up and down when your overhead thrust is at the ready, making it more effective in uneven terrain or with/against characters of different height.

Once again backups are a must, so make a copy of your actions.txt file. Then find...
the line beginning with ready_overswing_spear. You must replace the number next to it (52428:cool: with a 1678835712 and the same with the one following release_overswing_spear. So at the end it must look like this:

I've tried your tweaks but it doesn't work any more or values have changed.  :sad:
And, as Ruan has said, is it possible to tweak the enterprizes? They give too little money weekly for their buying prize, I get more from looting to maintain my troops to the point they become worthless on the longrun.

Drax, check my post above, follow the instructions, that will make enterprises much more profitable.
