Freelancer mechanics?

I'm not gonna lie - I have really, really, uncomfortably, neurotically, gotten used to being able to start the game as a pitiful soldier in someone's army and work my way up.

Hence I wonder: Is anything like that feature (i.e. some implementation of Freelancer mod or a similar system) going to be in VC?

Yeah, please let this mechanic be in place 

In Bretynwalda you had to have a faction relation of 5+ to join as a soldier in a lords army, I hope it's the same here, I've not tested it yet but the fastest way to do this was to make a donation to the Bishop in the faction capitals throne room or to save the factions peasants from bandits if they were being attacked
