This situation occured, atleast what i recognised:

1. Polanin & Jomsborg gathered up on hildileikr to have some fun together, a little "event" if you want to call it that. Over 30 people, which is quite alot on Hildi.

2. We played had fun, and then the polanin made a bit unsmart move of charging into the water, while having cavalry.

3. The admin called the polanins "Dumb ****s", through admin chat.

4. Leifr said it was wrong to insult the polanins. The admin muted Leifr.

5. I wrote this specifically to the admin: "It's the best for you if you unmute Leifr, or else you'd be viewed as assholes". Because really, mute leifr for defending the pols?

6. The admin muted me after i said that.

The admin is most likely "Eirikr Rödskägg", because he was the only admin on.

And now i think, what the heck was going through the admin's mind when doing this? A bad day? Nevertheless, this is not how a admin should act. If Leifr Eiríksson (Eirikr Rödskägg) has anything to say in his defense, please write it, and explain how you thought. But this is not acceptable.
 
I was not the only admin present but I understand that I am a bit of a boogeyman for the Jomsborg, I have a thick skin so it's cool.

The use of Hildeleikr as a large group does not grant that group group the privilege of acting as if it is their own server. You must always abide by the server rules and must always act in a manner that is most befitting to the larger audience. It is an unfortunate fact that the Polannin group are incapable of providing this service (unlike the Jomsborg whom, it must be said, have greatly increased their behaviour in recent weeks). Despite repeated pleas and bargaining attempts in team-chat, the Polannin continued to ignore all sensible suggestions of team work.

Continuing on from this; spamming the public chat with repeated imperatives for the admins to perform is not an ideal way to function about Víkingr. It is better to raise a problem on TaleWorlds here. Personally I am of the tendency to ignore folk in-game who bleat like sheep on a repeated basis, I then proceed to mute said folk. I would like to retort the 'arsehole' comment on your part. It did not reflect fairly upon both Jomsborg and Polannin when the groups left as one.  :wink:

I can't look at the log now, but I'll say this: I muted you specifically because having to deal with repeated complaints (nay, demands) in the chat at the same time as you try to police a relatively large number of players who are being disruptive (many of the Polanin, in this case) is not productive at all. Complaints should be raised here in the forum, or via PM or Steam. You know, where we can actually examine them. This isn't the first time the admins have had to tell you, and maybe you're not aware of how much harder you guys make our job.
 
Yes, the polanins acted a bit wrong, but it's very unprofessional to insult them, and when people recognise the wrong in your own act, it's even more unprofessional to mute them! Your acting has no excuse. Sure, the polanins did not act good, but you acted even worse. You should apologize the polanins, and unmute Me and Leifr. The Polanins should also apologize to you, if you want to hear one.

(Btw, a question, can you give specific situations where the pols have broken these "rules"? I mean, untactical stuff such as charging into water can for sure not be any rulebreaking, really? Or camping? Let's take this scenario, if the polanins didn't wear any clan banner, they'd just be a rabble of players without any coordination /which polanins may be/, and the same situations would occur, it wouldn't have the same effect to you, really. Am i right? Btw, how do you act as if it's your own server? Sure, they may not follow your orders like trained monkeys, but it's a public server, don't expect it either. It's just a question, this one. )

So what you’re saying is that it was alright of you to insult the Polanins? Just because you’re an admin? Still as an admin you should act like a bit more mature, instead of this childish you’re acting like right now. And when I said it was wrong of you insulting the Polanins, you simply just muted me away, what an act of matureness I see? Really if this is the way you admins behave on this community, I am done here. Keep doing what you do and you will lose even more players in this community, I’m trying to help here on your behavior.

Not just this made me feel the way I feel, two weeks ago another admin banned one of our members out of the Hildeleikr server just because he said that Haraldson was flanking? (Which he actually did, he flanked around the Shieldwall). And after that our member reported it to the higher admin who watches the battle proceed, he simply said his argument was invalid and he banned him off the server right away. Is this the way you guys act in the community? What is the matter with you? No wonder why this community isn’t bigger than it is, because you admins don’t respect your community players enough! End of discussion. Admins, I bet our Svennr’s would act like better admins than you!

The Polanin have a long history of disruptive behaviour which has been brought up to them many times, so it's not that they acted "a bit wrong" today.

If an admin used the admin chat to insult other players, that was wrong. However, I already explained why you were muted. It’s a mute, not a ban. By definition, it’s less of a punishment and more of a managing tool so that the admins don’t have to deal with certain stuff at a particular moment.

They weren't punished at all for behaviour that harmed the experience and enjoyment of non-Polanin players because there's nothing in the rules against it - they were simply criticized for their behaviour by fellow players. They only received a warning from an admin when they stalled a round as a group.
Let's take this scenario, if the polanins didn't wear any clan banner, they'd just be a rabble of players without any coordination /which polanins may be/, and the same situations would occur, it wouldn't have the same effect to you, really.

Of course recognized Víkingr clans are not the same as isolated players: they have a hierarchy and a leader who's ultimately responsible for the way they act. Being a Víkingr clan entails certain privileges, like getting a separate host during big events, so their behaviour is expected to meet certain standards.

I very much doubt this is an accurate description of what happened. Several Jómsvíkingar have been banned in the past because several Jómsvíkingar keep breaking the rules. Simple as.

I’m all for discussing admin issues openly and maturely in the forum, but I’m not going to engage in a shouting contest. Keep it civil.
 
OK, Jestservers is back up, which means I could take a look at the log. Which you should all read, because I think it paints a very different picture compared to what the Jómsvíkingar are saying.

Things to note:
1. Eiríkr insulted the Polanin as a private player, not as an admin, and after many rounds of team chat messages by several players in their team trying to get them to cooperate and not ruin the game for others. At no point did he insult the Poles as a whole.
2. Wulfstan did insult the Poles. He's not an admin.
3. Leifr wrote that as a direct response to an admin message that showed up when I kicked a Polanin for unrelated reasons. It wasn't Leif's first message about it, and the admins judged he would continue. Hence the mute.

This is what happened next:

The Jómsvíkingar spammed the chat despite being told that wasn't the way to go about it. Björn then posted those two comments so he was muted.

I had my doubts at first because my memory isn't perfect, but after reading the log (and I could post the whole thing if you want) I honestly don't think we wronged the Jómsvíkingar or the Polanin, while some have accused us of making racist comments about the Poles as a whole and muting people for daring stand up against that.
 
So.... basically a guy got butthurt over the admins enforcing the rules (which include not insulting, delaying/trollish behaviour) decided that spamming his discontent was the best course of action, then the (I apologise for the "stereotype") poor English skill owning people misunderstood almost everything, the butthurt person got muted, someone else got butthurt over the mute and decided to express his discontent by spamming the chat, then an entire clan joins in on the spamming and it spiraled from there.

I must say. I just finished watching a movie but reading this thread was much more fun :grin: I just hope there won't be many more like it :sad:

PS: Bloody hell people can make drama out of nothing, just that, why is it that every time I see a complaint it's got about 10% fact and 90% butthurt in it?
 
Just got home from work... I'm not going to comment on this.

(About the flanking in last SWE, I must admit I got bad conscience when I watched the video and saw that I actually did move around the shieldwall, or what was left of it after a long engagement, and killed Ragnarr from behind. Didn't know someone got kicked from the event for pointing it out, sorry about that. Admins make mistakes, even Haraldsson. Then again, I'm under the impression that Celtic was bombarded by complaints, insults and whatnot, and reading through this thread I really can't blame him for pulling the red card on some unlucky Jomsvíkingr.)
