Hear my words peasants for I bring great news: From now on there will be no server enforced troop limits during events. This does mean we will have to limit them through admining, but hopefully it fixes some concerns. Also comment on the topic of 10k money or not. I'll make a poll if the consensus isn't obvious enough.

I quite like the current money system, as it gives the people the possibility of to earning better/different equipment, and it better represents the un-uniformity of armies of the period.

Nice to hear on us being relieved from the class limits problem. What kind of limit were you thinking of implementing for the elite classes?

As for whether or not 10k gold should be introduced I don't know if I support it or not. I'm personally fine with the current amount of 1.6k as it seems pretty balanced, but if you have a certain plan to go with it than I wouldn't mind.

tl:dr: read the whole thing you lazy bums.

Looks like 1.6k has support for now, looking forwards to people voicing other opinions and giving good reasons as 1.6 is based on dozens of events of experience showing it works fine with almost all factions. The following rambling reply is aimed at the quoted, unquoted and unvoiced/assumed posts this thread might gather if players had the balls to post instead of sulking off in silence.

For general and captain (officer) classes, 1 each per clan. Elites need to go on an event attendance basis, but something like 1 in 5 per team being elites doesn't seem too bad. As for skirmishers: a few per team seems to be best as good skirmisher players can do absurd amounts of damage. Cavalry isn't allowed most of the time due to the confusing effect it usually has. It's all up to debate however and depends a lot on the number of players. What are Elite classes though... now that's a question we'll have to answer. Gallic heavy infantry for example, do they count as elites? I personally perform better as light infantry, so where's the line to be drawn?

The main issue is that we need to see who shows up (as it's never all the people who sign up) and go with that in the events. Sure it'll make things slower but we still get to fighting within 5 minutes of announcing the start of the event, and resets are 1 minute (min. round time) which should happen once per map, so out of the 3 maps, 15 rounds, a grand total of about 10 minutes should go to admining. Sure we could get that down a bit, but we're not trying to be too serious about the whole thing. It's a game after all, you're supposed to enjoy it.

We also allow pubbers (public players, not related to pubes) to join the event since the server doesn't fill up and pubbers seem to enjoy it. This does mean we need to keep an eye on those pubbers who join during the event, which may cause issues in terms of troop limits.  However anyone nazi (am I allowed to say nazi?) enough to whine about pubbers not following the rules they possibly couldn't know right after joining the server, deserve nothing but contempt in my opinion. This entire topic deserves far more attention than I can give it here, but rest assured that pubbers will forever be welcome to join the events. Everyone of us was/is once a pubber, so if we can't relate to their situation I have no wish to continue hosting. Willingly breaking the rules or ignoring the admins is obviously going to lead to punishment-

1.6k is in my experience pretty well balanced, apart from a couple of weird equipment issues. I don't have a plan and am asking just to get some opinions, though the people asking for 10k just seem quite lazy from my point of view. The main benefit of having a restricted amount of money is that we don't need equipment limits: Good players can get more expensive stuff, and usually the limiting factor is armour and not weapons. Getting a good weapon so one can kill the enemy is, in my opinion, far more important (won't comment on armour values here, there's another topic for that).

Ps: In terms of pure popularity, it seems 10k would be best, but I'm not sure if I care about that. Obviously lacking Imperial (more like Boringer) Rome is hitting the possible playerbase severely, but I hope that doesn't cause people to turn away from a mod with some fantastic (if improvable and go post suggestions in the suggestions thread) gameplay and legitimately useful formations. Pila work well when volleyed at good range, spears/pikes are godly if combined with teamwork, light infantry speed makes flanking extremely useful, skirmishers can cause havoc, 1 cavalry player can be enough to call for the nerf of the entire concept. What I'm saying is, a good combination of troops is far better than spamming just one (*cough* legions *cough*).

Legio XX and XII are on the blacklist. A single infringement and they are banned from the event. If this happens, individuals may appeal their innocense.

Edit: Legio XX and XII are currently not banned.
Edit 2: The instigators of the situation can consider themselves to be in the same category. Insulting others is barely tolerated within reasonable limits, the limits were crossed.
Edit 3: To remove any such possible fears, even after the less than proper behaviour of some pubbers (non-clan members), we are not going to stop such players from joining.
