Um, no. Not everybody uses the same wordprocessing software, not everybody likes 12-point fonts or double-spaced, and the wordprocessor I use doesn't even HAVE margins (unless you specify them when you come to print your script).

1000 words it is.

Yeah but it's FAR easier for people to remember "1000 words" than to remember:

3.5 pages
Double spaced
12 point font
And dude, I can't remember what margin size you said and I've only been gone from my PC for 3 minutes.

Follow KISS wherever possible. There's plenty of rules as it is.
