The History
The Anglo–Zulu War was fought in 1879 between the British Empire and the Zulu Kingdom. Following a campaign by which Lord Carnarvon had successfully brought about federation in Canada, it was thought that similar combined military and political campaigns might succeed with the various African kingdoms, tribal areas and Boer republics in South Africa. In 1874, Sir Henry Bartle Frere was sent to South Africa as High Commissioner for the British Empire to bring the plans into being. Among the obstacles were the presence of the independent states of the South African Republic and the Kingdom of Zululand and its army. Frere, on his own initiative, without the approval of the British governmen and with the intent of instigating a war with the Zulu, had presented an ultimatum on 11 December 1878, to the Zulu king Cetshwayo with which the Zulu king could not comply. Cetshwayo did not comply and Bartle Frere sent Lord Chelmsford to invade Zululand. The war is notable for several particularly bloody battles, including a stunning opening victory by the Zulu at Isandlwana, and the defiant victory for the British at Rorke's drift, as well as for being a landmark in the timeline of imperialism in the region. The war eventually resulted in a British victory and the end of the Zulu nation's independence.

The Mod
The Anglo Zulu war is a modification for Mount and Blade: Napoleonic wars, which seeks to bring you back to the Anglo Zulu conflict, in true Mount & Blade style. You will be able to play as the British, fighting off hordes of Zulu warriors, or play as the Zulus to drive the British from your homeland. You will use a variety of historical weapons, such as the Martini Henry Rifle, The Beaumont Adams revolver, and Zulu weapons such as clubs, spears and axes. The mod is split between Players Vs Bots and Players Vs Players, with eventual invasion style gamemodes planned for bot gameplay.

This is what I've done so far. It's the Martini Henry Rifle, Mark 2. I need to add the bayonet, fix a few tiny things I'm unhappy with, and then obviously texture it. This is my first serious model and I'm quite proud of it.

The straps are incomplete to a historical standard but otherwise fit the model, shaders and such are not done yet.

Outside of modelling we're working on a new reload animation for the martini henry rifle, a Rorkes drift map, and more.

I've just completed the uh... naked body. Now to add their minimal clothing, weapons and shield, and attempt to give them black faces.
