Key changes to the way matches will be played:
1) 1000 starting gold.
2) Addition of new maps, including maps from the Plains Map Pack.
3) Stricter rules for re-rolling Random Plains.
4) Matches being scored by rounds
5) Only the top 8 teams in the round-robin stage will advance to the single elimination stage.
6) A mercenary pool system.
7) Teams must field at least 6 players each, although 7 players is the standard number

Now keep in mind there may be changes mid-tournament if a rule is not clarified or a system doesn't work. If this occurs, a mass-PM will be sent out to all team captains. Team captains, please keep an eye on your PMs. I recommend you tie your PMs to be sent to your e-mail in settings.

On with the rules:

- Teams will consist of a minimum of 9 players and a maximum of 12. Each team will have a 'team captain' and a 'co-captain'. These two members of the team will represent the teams, and in case of a dispute, they are responsible for representing the team. They are also the only two members of the team allowed to make map/faction choices (including the decisions to re-roll a random plains map) in the global chat, unless neither is present, in which case the team will nominate a representative.

- The tournament is designed with 7 player matches in mind. If both teams have 7 players, they are required to field 7. If both teams have more, they may choose to field more than 7 players, although this is at the team captain's discretion. Teams are discouraged from, but are allowed to, field 6 players and the other team must match their 6.

- Teams are allowed to add players to their roster, but must do this through PM to the tournament host (Eternal) and the player(s) substituted may not play for 48 hours after the PM is sent. No roster or emergency substitutions are allowed during the play-off phase.

- There will be a mercenary pool that will be both used as an 'advertising place' for prospective team members as well as a pool from which emergency substitutions can be drawn from. If a team can not field 7 players, then the team may emergency substitute a player from the mercenary pool. If a team uses an emergency substitution a note including the name of the mercenary should be made when submitting the results of the match. A mercenary in the mercenary pool may only play for any one team only once throughout the entire tournament. Teams may also only use an emergency substitute once per two matches. A team may only emergency substitute one player at a time. Teams are not forced to take a mercenary no matter their numbers, and may either play a 6v6 (if a 7th cannot be found) or may take a warning (if a 6th player cannot be found).

- Servers are highly recommended to run the modified ENL module that contains all the new maps used in the tournament. The module can be downloaded by following this link. More information about the module as well as other options for obtaining the custom maps is in this post. The following servers run the ENL/BIT module: USA_Event (official BIT server), Unis_Oval_Office. By default, the matches will be played on servers that have the new maps. A match can only be played on a server that doesn't have the new maps only if both team captains agree. If the teams elect not to use a server containing the new maps, then please include that in your score report.

- Servers must be set to the following settings:
Speed: Fastest
Starting gold: 100% (1000)
Combat gold bonus: 100%
Round gold bonus: 100%
Round time:  360 seconds (6 Minutes)
Friendly Fire to friend: 100%
Map time: 120 Minutes

- Admins of the server must not abuse the server settings in any way which would give one team an advantage.

- Camera settings will be determined by both teams. If there is a dispute, the more limiting camera view wins.

- Common courtesy regarding server selection should be followed. The server should be selected to be giving roughly equal ping to both teams, discounting European players. Europeans will be expected to deal with 90-140 ping. If there is a dispute regarding server selection, speak to an admin for arbitration.

- If severe lag (manifesting in either spiking ping values or delays in animations) is experienced mid-match, then teams may change to a different server after a finishing the current period of four rounds.

- Any spectators or observers outside of the team members and tournament admins must be approved by both team captains(or team representatives, in case the team captain is not present).

- Matches will be using what is conventionally called in the NA community the 'new NASTe' system designed by Orion. For in-depth information, consult this thread.

- See third post to see who chooses map/spawn first. After the first map, teams alternate, so the 'B' team would choose the map and spawn for the second map. The 'T' team would choose the map and spawn for the third map.

- Seeds for every match in the round-robin phase will be published along with the bracket at the beginning of the tournament. Seeds for the play-off phase will be determined by the relative rankings of the teams in the final standings of the round-robin phase: the team that ended higher on the scoreboard will have the top seed.

- Maps will be played for 8 rounds with a  faction/spawn swap in the middle. Specifically, after 4  rounds, the teams will swap factions & spawns, and the map will also  be reset. Team 1 will take team 2's faction and spawn selection, and  vice versa. Victory is determined by the total number of rounds won after 2 maps are played: the team that won the most rounds wins the match. If the score is 8-8, then the match is a tied. As the qualifiers for the top 8 of the round robin tournament and general round-robin winners are determined by total rounds won, ties do not interfere in scoring.

- Round ties are replayed.

- Maps are classified into three categories: open, mixed and closed. No two maps from the same category can be played in a single match. Please refer to the section "Map Classification" for a detailed information about the map categories

- Faction choices cannot be repeated for the first two maps, e.g. if team 1 chooses Vaegirs in the first map then Vaegirs cannot be chosen by either team in the first two maps. If a third (tie-breaker) map is played, any valid faction can be chosen as long as the factions are not mirrored, e.g. if team 1 chooses Vaegirs in the third map, team 2 cannot choose Vaegirs.

- Mirrored factions are not allowed. Neither are Khergits.

- Arena, Battle on Ice, Canyon, Forest Hideout are banned. See  section "Map Classification" for the full list of maps allowed in
  the tournament

- Random Plains can be played, but the map cannot be re-rolled unless both team captains agree. Agreement must be explicit: the team captain (or an appointed representative) must type "reroll" or a similar phrase in the global chat to express his/her agreement with re-rolling the map. Re-rolling the map without the explicit agreement of both captains will result in a warning issued to the team hosting the match.

- During the match, substitutions of players from the roster are allowed if a player unexpectedly quits the server, or between the 4-round periods for any reason. Extra players may be added to the teams between the 4-round periods upon agreement of both captains or official representatives.

- One match will be played per week. The rounds advance each Sunday, and each team is expected to have played the match by that Sunday @
11:59 PM.  If a team requires a 3 day extension, then PM'ing me is advised and it may be granted. Longer extensions will not be granted
and the team with the least effort dedicated towards successfully finding a time and place to play the match will forfeit. In order
to facilitate determining the culprit of scheduling difficulties team captains are encouraged to copy the tournament host (Eternal) on any
scheduling correspondence.

- In case of an issue with scheduling, please contact a tournament administrator.

- The top 8 of the round robin tournament will be determined by total number of rounds won/rounds lost, and then by total victories. They will participate in a single-elimination tournament that will last no longer than three weeks. No extensions will be granted, although it may be delayed if it falls on, say, a holiday week.

- Three warnings issued to a team will result in elimination of the  team from the tournament

- Teams are encouraged to document rule violations with screenshots.

- Basic courtesy is to be followed during matches. Spamming the global chat, flaming, flamebaiting and trolling are prohibited. Please, show respect to your opponents. If there is a behavior dispute, bring it to a tournament administrator. If it is determined that there was a behavior violation, a warning will be given.

- The following violations are considered very serious and might result in a disqualification irrespective of the number of warnings accumulated by a team: communication of the enemy position by the dead or spectating players to ther team ("ghosting") and usage of
third-party software to enhance player's ability ("hacking").

- If a Random Plains map is re-rolled without an explicit consent being given by the captains or official representatives of both teams, the team responsible for hosting the match is given a warning

- If a team is unable to field 6 players within 30 minutes from the agreed upon match time, a warning is issued to that team.

- Warning system for individual team member transgressions:

Breach of rules 1: Warning.
Breach of rules 2: Temporary suspension from the next game.
Breach of rules 3: Permanent removal from BIT.

Captains/co-captains of the teams must post the final score in the tournament thread within 24 hours since the end of the match. If an emergency substitute has been used, the name of the substituted mercenary is to be stated in the same post. If the match has been played on a server without the new maps, that should be mentioned in the post as well. Posting screenshots showing the scores after each 4-round period is encouraged (in case there is a dispute), but not required.

- Scoring for the round-robin phase will be based on total rounds won. In case of a tiebreaker, map win/loss ratio will be used.

Administration:
Teams should follow the directions and respond to any inquiries of an administrator present at the match. We will attempt to have an administrator present at every match if possible. If an administrator is a member of one of the teams in a match, the other team is allowed to seek an opinion of an administrator not affiliated with either of the teams. In any other cases (e.g. when the administrator is not affiliated with either team), the judgement given by a tournament administrator is final.

How to use the table. The symbol in row N and column M shows the seed for the team N in the match N vs M. T means Top, B means Bottom. So, say, TWM is playing against RAFF. We look in the TWM row (always bold) and the RAFF column and find that the seed for the TWM team is T (Top). Alternatively, we can look in RAFF row and fifth column and find that the seed for team 2 is B (Bottom).

Thanks to KissMyAxe for this system.

Although I am willing to be in the merc pool, I would rather actually be apart of a team that requires more players; so if I join an actual team then I will obviously be off the merc list.

p.s. Does that mean I get the Klondike bar?
