I have played around with the particle_systems file and bring you more realistic smoke for NW!

My mod basically makes it so smoke lingers for longer, moves realistically (as far as the file allows) and looks more dense. I balanced gameplay and realism for these changes. The smoke lasts longer and can still be seen through in a regular battle. I particularly like charging through breaches in a siege with musket smoke all around.

List of things changed: The flash from muskets, cannons and explosions lasts for less time.
Explosion smoke lasts for less time (can increase performance and also looks better in my opinion)
Rocket smoke lasts longer, is thicker and move in the air less.
Cannon and musket smoke lasts longer.
Changes to weather particles to increase perfromance.

New performance smoke!

I would suggest backing up the default file in case my modifications causes any issues.

Atmospheric smoke mod: http://www.mediafire.com/?4o50iqn8n54snn3 Cannon, rocket and musket smoke lasts for far longer than the other two versions. Less particles are used to make sure this version doesn't blow up your PC. You will have to rename the file to particle_systems as it's default name is particle_systems(2)

Added a performance version, will not look realistic, but will have a greater performance. It is untested as I did not have time to test it.

It's really good, love it. I don't really need this to improve my performance, but I do prefer having less smoke floating around so I can actually see what I'm doing when for example doing volley-firing. Here are some screenies:

Thanks for the mod mate, as a flag bearer/recorder of the pub reg it is appreciated.

Hm... gotta post the latest footage I got using this mod(with timestamps of the same video). Also, note that I don't use the high particle effects :

Hopefully these video demonstrations can help.

I did say you should back it up. The best thing to do would be to turn high detail particles off (it's a tick box) and then you can see clearly.

I tested it and I'm very happy of it, I keep this one . What's the difference between the performance one and the basic one ?
