Capture the Flag has for a long time been neglected in the Warband competitive scene, but no more! For the next as-of-yet indefinite period of time, team sign-ups, map submissions and other aspects of tournament administration will take place. Once this indefinite period of time is over, the tournament will begin in earnest, and teams can begin playing competitive Capture the Flag.
Since there have been few attempts to make Capture the Flag a competitive Warband game-mode, the rules listed below are to some extent provisional, and likely to change; I will however try not to change the rules in the middle of the tournament, unless definitely necessary.
One aspect of this tournament is that no Native maps will be used; all of the maps in use will be custom maps, which can be seen in this thread. By the time the tournament starts, these maps (as well as the aforementioned rule-sets) will have been tested numerous times. In addition to this 'official' testing, anyone is encouraged to test the maps and rules at any point they wish, and can report their findings either in this thread or to me via private message.
Matches in this tournament will be 16-a-side, with no class restrictions. Since there are few clans which could regularly raise 16 members for a match, each team will be made up of two clans (hence 'Double-Team'). Each team's roster will be at a minimum of 16, and a maximum of 26. There must be at least 8 members of each clan in the roster (so an 8|8 split would be allowed, as would an 8|18 split, but not a 7|9 or 3|23). If a clan is a member of the European Native League and in Division A, then it may not pair up with a team of its own Division. Due to changes in Division amongst teams, the start of the ENL Spring Cycle will be taken as the basis for this. Clans outside of the European Native League are of course welcome to join, and may team up with any other clan they wish.

*All rules are subject to change, however any changes (excluding fixing minor typos etc.) will be publically announced and kept in the changelog below.*
- Each team should consist of a minimum of 16 players, and a maximum of 26 players. Matches will be 16 v.s. 16.
- Each team will be made up of two clans (hence 'Double-Team'). Each team's roster will be at a minimum of 16, and a maximum of 26. There must be at least 8 members of each clan in the roster (so an 8|8 split would be allowed, as would an 8|18 split, but not a 7|9 or 3|23).
- If a clan is a member of the European Native League and in Division A, then it may not pair up with a team of its own Division. Due to changes in Division amongst teams, the start of the ENL Spring Cycle will be taken as the basis for this. Clans outside of the European Native League are of course welcome to join, and may team up with any other clan they wish.
- A public roster will be kept for all teams. If a player who is not in a team's roster is found to have played in a game, their team will forfeit all points scored while that player was playing.
- Players may not be in two team rosters at the same time.
- Additions to and removals from a team's roster may be submitted at any point, however will only take effect at 00:00 (BST) of Monday (that is, one minute after 23:59 (BST) Monday), since this is the deadline day for each weeks' matches.
- The role of team captains is to arrange matches, make changes to a team's roster, appeal decisions, handle disputes and so forth. As such, it is advisable that an active, sensible and ideally, well-connected member.
- Combat Speed: Medium; Friendly Fire: 100% (melee and ranged); Round Duration: 900 seconds; Game type: Capture the Flag; Gold: All set to 100%; Respawn Time: 25 seconds; Spectator Settings: Locked to team members' view; No bots and no polls; No other settings enabled which might interfere with gameplay (auto-killing horses, auto-kicking for team-kills etc.)
- Matches will be one hour long (not accounting for breaks in between rounds), played over two maps. Each map will be divided into two halves. Each half will be 15 minutes of game-play. After the first 15 minutes, spawns and factions will be switched, and the second half will begin. Teams are permitted to have a break in between halves, and in between maps.
- The winner of the match will be the team with the highest number of flag captures in the match.
- Matches will be 16 v.s. 16.
- Servers outside of Europe are not allowed, although in the case of North American, European teams are expected to attempt to lessen the ping inequality in-so-far as is feasible.
- Two substitutions are allowed per half. At no point however, should teams spawn more than 16 players.
- Custom maps have been designed especially for this tournament. These are required for a tournament match, and will be available in the ENL Admin Mod.
- Players should play under the in-game name which they are signed up under. Small variations are permitted (Alex_ander instead of Alexander if you want a poor example), so long as the name is recognisable from the name the player is signed up under.
- The map must be reset at the end of a half, when the teams switch factions and spawns.
- If a team cannot make 16 players, at the agreed match time, they must play on regardless. It is up to the other team to decide if they want to postpone the match.
- Unless team captains decide otherwise, team 1 will always start at spawn 1 on the first map and and spawn 2 on the second map and vice versa for team 2.
- It is only by explicit agreement by team reps from both teams or by ruling from an event admin that a match can be rescheduled.
- After an initial group stage, the tournament will be purely single elimination, no second chances. The schedule will be posted after the sign-up phase.
- The exact size of the groups, and how many teams go through to the single elimination stage will depend on how many teams sign up, however the tournament structure will be made publically visible.
- The winning team will be the one which progresses to the Grand Final and triumphes over their opponents.
- In the group stage, teams will be awarded two (2) points for a win, one (1) point for a draw and no points for a loss.
- Teams drawing on points in the group stage will be decided first by score difference, and then by play-off matches.
- The tournament organiser (me) has the final say. Ignorance of the rules is not a valid excuse.
- Any suspected breach of the Team Regulations, Tournament or Match Rules should be met with immediate confrontation and should be reported to an event admin as soon as possible, preferably by your team rep. Any team that keeps quiet about friendly fire being set to the wrong percentage (for example), and then complains after they lose, will have their protests ignored.
- If teams want to play a match, after a deadline, for whatever reason, they must request this permission from an event admin.
- Maps and factions will be randomly generated before the start of the season.
