A few random ideas from Grimmend vol. 2

Horror's (Placeholding Name)
Spawns randomly after a large scale battle (*00 vs. *00) and lays waste to everything it can reach.  Incredibly high power, but unable to heal.  Can possibly be captured but insanely hard even with max level undead.

You

Would like to see more ways to take the path of evil, like the headless horseman, but maybe other 'dark opertunities', like a lich or a vampire (cliche, but you get the picture) each with pros and cons to them (lich could raise undead for free, but can recruit human unit anymore, and vampire opens up new troop branch, but can only operate at night.

The Cult (Placeholding Name)
Kind of took the idea from custom settlement mod, but what if you could send people to Zendar, while most are killed by the Blood Fountan, some join like you did, and work to further your dark influence in the world.

there should be an undead faction that attacks all of the native factions

I would tone down the acceleration of the undead uber-horses.  They're cool but they flick around so fast it's difficult to control them.  I went back to my Heavy Charger.  Actually, I might tone down all the necrolord set equipment.  I know it's supposed to be very powerful, but playing the mod from the start it really seems like being a Necromancer is all about commanding undead minions and using the power of death to fight for you, and not being a super-warrior yourself.

Really interesting mod, though.  I'm enjoying it so far.

Now that you've developed this cool magic system, it would be interesting to come up with a different (and possibly opposed) system.

First off, this is a huge step forward from Blood and it got me re-addicted to M&B.

I know this has been said before but... Kingdom Management... :P
Also, since you're a disciple of the Fountain, it should be able to give you quests. The tales of Calradia are kinda like quests, but I fel this needs some formal quests. Maybe you can betray the Fountain and start a career on your own?

Had some ideas, but I can't recall for now. I'll post here when they pop to mind.
The only redeeming thing about me is that I'm better than everyone else.

I think I was wrong about the horses.  Most of them are fine.  I got one of the shadowlord steeds, and that threw me off because it rotated so quickly.  I got a preserver warhorse and it seems fine though.

I think the biggest thing that can be improved is the interface with the Necronomicon.  That can be made more handy.  I might even consider spinning off the "crafting" parts (like making an Evil Eye or a Philosopher's Stone) into another book.

This mod is really fun, hadn't played M&B in a while.  Some people have mentioned adding new companions, I would like to propose the idea of making new companions as recreations/homages to famous occult personages.  Some of my suggestions:

Eliphas Levi
Aleister Crowley
MacGregor Mathers (so Crowley has somebody to bicker with)
Simon Magus ("false" miracle worker from the Bible who I understand had some kind of miracle duel with Jesus)
Cain (the Biblical one)
Lazarus
Elizabeth Bathory
maybe Edgar Allen Poe, H. P. Lovecraft...others?
Actually, I take that back.  Go about your business.

Necromantic Fallout
After a big battle there is a chance that part (or all) of the fallen reanimate as an undead horde after some time.

Demonic Fallout
After a big battle there is a chance that a portal to hell opens and a demon horde appears after some time.

Interface with the Necronomicon (or whatever book)
For now each time you use it you go back to the map. As I often do several things it might be easier to use if you return to the action selection in the book.

Two Masters
Beside the Blood Fountain that rules over the undead there is also a desecrated chapel that governs demons (resulting in two books).
This would also divide the necrolords into two factions.

Suggestions for Quests
These are mostly based on existing quests.
  • Bring me a lord - Bring an imprisoned lord to the Blood Fountain and you get... a companion death knight, a demon horde, an item, an attribute increase, money or whatever.
  • Bring me prisoners - Bring imprisoned elite troops (Knights, Huscarls...) and you get... money, elite undead or demons or whatever.
  • Escort a death priest to a city - You get nothing but the garrison and/or the peasants die off.

I would split revenants, horrors, and abominations into their own separate branches of the zombie tree, since they represent missile troops, cavalry, and infantry.  There should probably be a zombie missile troop one step more powerful than revenants, a cavalry troop one in between zombies and horrors, and two infantry levels between zombies and abominations.

The Cult (Placeholding Name)

I think this would be awesome! This is pretty much exactly what I was thinking the whole time, and have the option to be leader (Overthrow the Blood Fountain) but also have the option to be a follower (The a vein of the Fountain maybe?).
I'd like to see a joinable undead faction of any kind, maybe see if we could take calraldia?

Patchwork Soldiers:
LASTLY and almost most importantly allow Patchworked undead to be upgraded to zombies, this would be a big help and make it possible to start without the necronomicon.

I will assemble a team and make it for you.

They shall be my finest codders, these men who give themselves to me. Like clay I shall mould them and in the furnace of their parent's basement forge them. They will be of iron will and steely grip. With great computers shall I bequeath them and with the mightiest graphical chips will they be armed. They will be untouched by loss of interest or carpel tunnel syndrome, no

1. Make patchwork zombies stronger as one increases in level. Think like magic missile in D&D, how it gets somewhat less **** as one increases in level.

2. It is somewhat frustrating to be a powerful necromancer, ruler of several fiefs and still have to travel to the cities of thine enemies in order to buy.... candles. The solution? New and improved village improvements. Why can't you simply order your villagers to build you a candle factory? If they disobey, kill them. Also if one has control of a city, give an option to talk to the guild master to order shipments of whatever good at a premium over market price from several possible location depending on trade skill. Then a caravan of your faction makes the trek to your city over a period of time. Talk to the guild master to redeem your items. The balance here is that other factions might attack and kill your caravan, so keep them protected. You can also have the option to pay more money to hire more caravan guards.

3. Once a certain level of power is reached, "crusaders" begin appearing on the edge of the map. They have a sworn vow to purge lands of the undead.

4. Certain lords of the land should be secret necromancers. Find them and learn their secrets. They explain important plot points and reveal game hints in addition to being unusually strong in combat compared to other lords. Also one or two claimants to the throne should be secret necromancers.

5. Throw your enemies in a dungeon and torture them dungeon keeper style for information, to recruit them, or as a component of certain spells. This also opens the possibility of sacrifices, summonings, etc. all behind closed doors.

You should fix the lag caused by the travel map.
As the game progresses, you should get messages telling you that new Tech has become available, and each time that happens, add an option to buy a new gun(Flintlock Rifle, etc.)

He told about the Warband thingy already.
The mod is not compatible with Warband. It would have to be ported. Whether or not N0ught will do it is still a question mark. Either way, I'm happy as long as we get to play the mod.

Played a bit, quite interesting, the soil from world map makes hard to see units sometimes,
i would change that.
The armor/wep/mount sets and just fine, only thing is the ideal obviously is combining different items,
in order to get the better kit.
Wouldn't hurt to have an additional +bonus only awarded when using the whole set?
A spell or something.

Very good and original mod so far  8-)

First off, brown nosing.

This is the best mod ever made for this game.

Short n' sweet! Now to suggestions! We'll get obvious ones out of the way.

Deeper troop trees. In one battle, I managed to get stuck behind my wall of zombies on a castle. We were extremely outnumbered, but for some reason even on full difficulty, my zombies weren't dying. For one I was proud, but they weren't killing anything either. I ordered my few revenants to follow me into a tower overlooking the ladder our opponents were on, and witnessed something amazing. I zoomed in from the perspective of 1 revenant with a bow and arrow, and watched it shoot and kill over 23 soldiers in a row. Now I dont know about you guys, but zombie archers are just too damned sexy to turn into cavalry. Sure, I can give my companions all regular armor and a zombie head to make it FEEL the same, but Ill never be as excited as I was that one instance. Make tougher zombies, tougher archers, but not rigged.

I dont know about you folks, but I hate it when games make it too easy. Now, this game is NOT easy, but when I get a full army of abominations... well, it takes the challenge out of the game. This is why I suggested giving alternatives, like archers or footsoldiers or maybe some better undead cavalry, so they die but not at a rate that makes me want to throw my computer out the window.

Other Ideas!

Cities of the Macabre! A new faction of strange people who collectively have no one ethnicity but all follow strange beliefs, in their cities are demon portals, men in strange masks, ect ect, long story short, almost like a demon faction but with men. Essentially it would make recruiting demons a smidgen easier. To be honest, I think the extra troops (Homunculus, golem, demon) are just too tasking to create! I only ever have maybe 1 set of them at a time, with 100 patchworks behind them. If they were made even a little simpler, it would add so much more depth to the game. Even though demons SUCK, it would be pleasant to have the option of going full demon, or full homunculus (granted homunculi would have a much smaller party size for me..)

Kingdom Management! This has been covered PLENTY

Undead Nexus! Some ritual where you can build something similar to the key that brings you to Zendar, but it would allow you to go to any city under your controll. Now, without kingdom management, running a rebel faction SOLO is tough enough, but when two castles are thousands of in-game miles away, well ****. GG, autocalc never works in my favor. Now obviously this item or ritual would have a STEEP cost to prevent the 'rigged' feeling from coming about, but still a nice idea.

Option to make your companions/ regular troops undead! This has ALSO been covered, just a simple option to add undead helmets to regular troops so they look dead on the outside, without any real insane changes needed. Just helmets! Wouldn't even have to look different, just have different stats, like say " Superior skull cap " -da dun tshh- or "Cartilage mask" or something, just fancy names to add more options.

Now, as it stands, this mod is ALREADY the greatest mod ever to grace mount and blade, these are just suggestions. I have more, this is just a reminder of how awesome this mod is!

An option to choose new starting paths. You have them now, but they give only small changes, and really you dont want to NOT be a necromancer, lest ye spend hours finding old zendar and bulding a necronomicon.

Other than that, make summoning simpler, in some cases a little easier (Philosophers stone for a single golem? What gives! He died in the next fight!) the only other thing I could suggest are more props, stuff to make the game look more undead. Even if you didnt add cities of the macabre, Maybe spruce up some villages with dead cows, famine, crusifixes, something of that nature to give it an evil feel. And I know you dont want a necromancer faction, I would atleast suggest letting normal lords use undead soldiers, Id love to see that.

Thanks for considering if you read this!

[Edit]

I dontknow how this happens but crud, when Im on taleworlds my sentance structure and grammar go right out the window, even though I consider myself a decent writer. Alright, I just want to elaborate on the idea of different starting options. An easy one would be cultist or something, start you off with demons in your party and make summoning mor demons easier, or shadow caster making hommunculi easier or whatever it takes, maybe even an alternative summoning method. I probably will still forget something, but crud I cant type much longer, new york winters arent fun on the fingers.
